+ST0RM 145 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Each active-duty/AFRes wing has a few MPRS (Multi-Point Refueling System) jets assigned to them. The ANG do not. The pods dont come off unless they are removed for maintenance reasons. Here is a good picture I found on the net of it in action. "An Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker from the 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron refuels a Royal Air Force GR-4 Tornado over Iraq Feb. 25 using the multipoint refueling system. With MPRS, Air Force tankers have the versatility to refuel Air Force, Navy and coalition aircraft all in the same mission. Here are some photos and specs from a slideshow presentation that I created for my instructor upgrade. Each pod weighs 1442lb, and allows for a 400gpm offload rate.
