Hi, is there a way to get antiship missions to work with WOV? I mean what ini file do you edit so antiship is under mission type? Is this feasible? thx.

Yes, there´s the Tonkin Gulf Incident, but you can´t select them when creating missions.

I really want to sink some boats, is there a way to get them working? :dntknw:

I forget which one, but if you copy one of the single mission files out of the menu folder from WOE, you get the mission selection list from WOE that includes anti-ship.

So look around in the menu folder, but back up the original folder first...

Get Cat extractor if you don't have it from CombatAce downloads section.

Extract :WOVCAMPL1_DATA.ini,WOVCAMPRT_DATA.ini,WOVCAMPL2_DATA.ini from MissionData.Cat.

Open the .ini's using wordpad.

Scroll down to whatever squadron you want to fly.

Example:

[AirUnit001]

AircraftType=F-4E

Squadron=4TFS

ForceID=1

Nation=USAF

DefaultTexture=USAFtng1

BaseArea=Da Nang Air Base

BaseMoveChance=0

RandomChance=100

MaxAircraft=16

StartAircraft=16

MaxPilots=16

StartPilots=16

Experience=100

Morale=100

Supply=50

MissionChance[sWEEP]=90

MissionChance[CAP]=0

MissionChance[iNTERCEPT]=0

MissionChance[ESCORT]=70

MissionChance=25

MissionChance[CAS]=50

MissionChance[sEAD]=50

MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=25

MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=(0) Change this to 50 or higher (you should get some anti-ship missions)

MissionChance[RECON]=0

UpgradeType=NEVER

Rebase[01].Date=6/1972

Rebase[01].BaseArea=Takhli RTAFB

Rebase[02].Date=10/1972

Rebase[02].BaseArea=Udorn RTAFB

OR:

Open Aircraft data.ini folder using wordpad.

Example:

From F-4b_data.ini

[MissionData]

NationName=USN

ServiceStartYear=1962

ServiceEndYear=1974

AircraftRole=FIGHTER

AircraftCapability=DAY_AND_NIGHT

Availability=COMMON

Exported=TRUE

ExportStartYear=1963

ExportAvailability=RARE

PrimaryRoles=SWEEP,CAP,INTERCEPT,ESCORT

SecondaryRoles=STRIKE,CAS,ARMED_RECON,RECON,ANTI_SHIP (Make sure you have ANTI_SHIP here. Then you can select single mission- ANTI_SHIP)

NormalMissionRadius=579

MaxMissionRadius=989

Ceiling=16764.0

MinBaseSize=MEDIUM

CarrierBased=TRUE

Good Luck!

Nope. First of all, anti-ship missions don't work in campaigns. So messing with campaign files isn't going to fix it.

Second of all, I'm pretty sure that what I said in my previous post is what needs to happen. A stock WOV install doens't have anti ship missions listed in the single mission type menu. You have to copy one of the menu files over from WOE. I'm still can't remember which one though. Someone will have to check...

I beg to differ. The "Tonkin Gulf Incident" is a single mission, and it's certainly anti-ship. I also uploaded a misson, "The Higbee Incident", where the player flies a VPAF MiG-17F in an anti-ship mission against an American DD (the USS Higbee).

I've also seen screenies of sampan-busting missions, in YAP.

Ok, I think you mis-understood me or maybe I wasn't clear. Yes, there are "scripted" anti-ship missions. But as far as randomly generated single anti-ship missions from the create mission menu, it can't be done because "anti_ship" is missing from the drop down list in WOV. You have to copy one of the menu files over from WOE so it shows up. Then you can select anti ship.

If you have both MOV and WOE and they are fused, you can get anti-ship missions by starting out in WOE and go to single mission antiship and use the Vietnam Map. Thats what I do. Quick and easy no messing w/time consuming ini scripts.

Beg to disagree on the campaign part. Seems to have changed with last patch but i get once in a while tasked to sink a ship. Once it was a stock freighter crusing the coast, the other time a assembly of patrolboats, that was added in the VietnamSEA_targets.ini.

Well, patrol boats in the targets.ini is actually a strike mission, not anti-ship.

Has anyone seen anti ship missions in campaigns since the new patches came out?

I'm sorry for bumping an old thread but I found the menu file that needs to be replaced, it's SingleMissionScreen.dll . I don't know if changing this dll will have any secondary efects (like flying intercept in the WOV campaigns) so be cautious.

not that hard. You have to make sure that anti-ship missions are available for the aircraft you want to fly - in the mission section of the aircraft data.ini, and that the sea lanes as noted above are included in the terrain.

that's it.

I fly those all the time and did not have to migrate anything over from woe or play with data extractor files
