Rambler 1-1 Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 I can't get the F-14's 330 gallon tanks to show up in-game! I have tried following the instructions as in the download and I have tried adding them in manually from both the wapons pack and from a seperate install of the plane, but to no avail. I am using the latest weapon editor and the stock WEAPONDATA.ini file. I do not have any weapon packs intalled. The Phoenixes that came with the plane will not show either. The only logical thing I can think of for why the tanks won't work is because the information in the downloaded "F-14Weapons.ini" is not compatibale with the new mods of the game engine, despite the fact that information provided is identical to that of the other fuel tanks in the WEAPONDATA.ini. Help? BTW, I am running SFP1 patched up to october '08, pretty much a fresh install with only 2 planes and 3 weapons added on. Quote
+EricJ Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Use the Weapon Editor in the downloads section. That's why, because you need to open the Weapondata.ini with the Editor, and verify your weapons are there, and then save it, and viola! fuel tanks and Pheonixes galore.. Quote
macelena Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 If you get the .exe from column5 you will get the tanks, but not the AIM-54s. Try and tell Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 well, I am using the editor that's in the downloads section. I replaced it a couple times just to make sure. Still no tanks. and what good would an exacutable file be? Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 Well, I tried it again, but still no luck. I did the replacing of th e.dat file, I made sure my editor is the newest one, I checked the data.ini entries and everything, but still no tanks in game. The only things I can load out on the cat are sparrows and 'winders. Anybody? Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Come on people! I've reinstalled the cat a couple times now, and still nothing! no useable weapons except for sparrows and 'winders! Somebody else must have found this problem! HELP! Quote
+Fubar512 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Try removing the station code entry for the tanks (if they have one), using the weapon editor. Quote
kct Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I don't think the F-14 tanks ever had specific station codes. I think fuel tanks in general, they are already defined by the tank type entries in the aircraft_data.ini file. Quote

I think fuel tanks in general, they are already defined by the tank type entries in the aircraft_data.ini file. Yes , you're right. Evidently, he is doing something wrong, either a tank designation mismatch between what's in the weapondata and the tank model's .ini, or folder name. Rambler, you are placing the tank model .lod(s) and any associated texture files in its own folder, and using a proper .ini file, right? Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 I have the .lods and the .bmps in the weapons folder, if that's what you mean. There is no tank.ini file, it's all through the weapondata, I believe. Quote
+drdoyo Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Rambler, can you post or pm the entries from the weapondata.ini for the tanks and Phoenix's, and the entries for the weapon stations from the F-14, and one entry from the loadout.ini? I'm curious if this is something that I've run into with the cat in the past. Quote

Rambler 1-1 Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 That's not what I was referring to. Is there some sort of new procedure for adding tanks with the patch? Quote
+Fubar512 Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Is there some sort of new procedure for adding tanks with the patch? Extract, and drop the TANK330_F14 folder into your weapons folder. Use this until the Mirage Factory releases their new F-14 models, with new tanks, etc. Also, carefully examine the folder and .ini structure, and you'll understand the process. tank330_f14.rar Quote
+drdoyo Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) Ok, my next question is what years are you trying to fly in. For the Phoenix if you are trying to fly after 1984 the game won't load the Phoenix because the loadout.ini specifies the "A" version (service 1974-1984). Change AIM-54A to AIM-54C in the loadout.ini see if that helps the Phoenix issue. for the tanks, get rid of the NATO entry in the F-14A_data.ini for the fuel stations, leave them USN only. I've had problems with multiple "AttachmentType=" entries. Also make export values no less than "rare" Hope this helps. Edited December 20, 2008 by drdoyo Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 Nope. Nothing. Niet. Nada. I tried everything you guys suggested. Fubar, I followed your instructions word for word and tried it three times, to no avail. Still no tanks. dr, I'm flying in 1976 but I'm not bothering with the phoenixes right now, I'm just trying to get tanks. I switched the F-14A data.ini so that the fuel pylons were USN only, but that didn't work either. It seems that the gremlins are working against me. This is even more strange because I managed to successfully add Maverics from the old bunyap pack, and they work fine. THen only things it does not work on are fuel tanks and the phoenixes. Quote
+Fubar512 Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Nope. Nothing. Niet. Nada. I don't know what to tell, but using the tank folder I sent in conjunction with your weapondata.ini entries, yielded these results...not that I mean to rub your nose in it... And for your benefit KCT, before you even ask, the answer is, as always, "Two Weeks!!!!" Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 I'll download a recently released plane that has tanks, perhaps the skyray, and maybe that will work. THanks for the help, though. And I can't wait to try out the new cat! Quote
kct Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) Goodness. STOP torturing me with all these pics, I felt a little empty on the inside . /me headbangs. Thank goodness I got my F-15SG to play with. Edited December 20, 2008 by kct Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 This is depressing. It seems that I can't add any fuel tanks. I tried to add the alternate F-4 tanks found in the downloads section here, but they didn't work either. I also tried to add AIM-120s, and they didn't show up, but I'm pretty sure that was because of my hasty .ini mod of the F-4J to see if they would show up. Anyway, the only thing I can think of is to wait untill I get a better computer and system. For now I will make due with tanks that come with the game. Thanks for the help anyway, guys. Quote
kct Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 ...Have you tried a complete reinstall? Plus using the latest Weapons Editor. Quote
+drdoyo Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 The only other things I can think of on this are 1) Nation=USN in the weapondata.ini for the tanks 2) for the AIM-54 in the weaponeditor Export Availability = "rare" or "common" NOT "very rare" And (important troubleshooting info) 3) upon entering the loadout screen before changing anything is there a black dot on the grid where the tanks and phoenixes are to be loaded but the weapon selection pulldown menu is reading as "empty"? If the dot is there, don't change anything just back out of the loadout screen and hit fly and see if the weaps are on the jet. Black dot means the loadout ini is trying to do it's function but the problem is either with the lod/file path, or "local" availability of the weapon within the mission. Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 I considered a fresh install, but I just did that last month and I really don't have time for that now. And I am using the latest weapons editor, I made that mistake a month or so ago and corrected it. dr, I tried all the weapondata tricks I could think of, but to no avail. And when I open the loadout screen, it just shows that there are no weapons on the fuel pylons (no black dot; I've seen that before anyway), and when I go to the scroll-down list for those pylons, there are no tanks. THey're not in the inventory screen on the right side either. Only Sparrows and 'winders. Quote
+Fubar512 Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Other than errata with the station code IDs used in the newer patches and typos in the naming of tanks or weapons, I have not experienced any issues. Quote
