Eric,

This thread relates to the issue.

http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...mp;#entry239565

It affects aircraft like the Skyray and the F-106.

In effect, I can get away with things like ATFLIR and buddy pod on the SH skins because they are part of the model. The downside is that you can't jettision the tanks. Not a big deal for the ATFLIR and buddy pod...however, not being able to drop a basic fuel tank...

So that means the tanks have to be seperate LODs with separate skins. I have an idea to force the tanks off...but it's more problematic and I don't suspect it would work properly.

Also, you don't need to keep the skins at 2048 by 2048...I only do that for skinners to work in as great a resolution as they want. I don't expect a skin for a tank to ever need that resolution...

Ahhh yeah, now that you mention it... no problem, just gonna have to suffer with one tank lod lol. On the serious note, I'll resize it to 512 x 512 and see the results. I wasn't sure about the resizing down, but will do.

Heres a little something to wet your appetites. Our EA-18G HARM shoot from the other day. Note the lack of a smoke plume. Enjoy!

Just to throw some moderator strength behind this, but don't degenerate this topic into a Super Hornet vs. Tomcat thread, or no holds barred post deleting. This is why we have a Military Aviation forum here on CA, so know your place, not in a thread for a mod. Understood?

I have never seen a Superbug in real life and probably never will but I'm sure yours will look exactly the same

Which is a simple ini edit, so thanks for the heads up and now will go test it out.

And the way FC is doing stuff... Yes I am confident it will.

More progress. The HARM is strictly a weapon ini edit, apart from the SH. However got you a shot Vampyre :good: Additionally, gear well, and more buddy pod, as well as wing, tailfin, and tailplane work.

One thing that was bugging the crap out of me was it's "clean". Also more gear detail. Looking for contributors for gear bay textures if anybody is feeling generous.

do those edges works like the one on the f-117,raptor and 35... to make it more stealthy? Those are the most detailed baydoors I`ve ever seen in a game ;-)

So does that mean the EA-18G is now active? Wiki says its still in testing. If so someone needs to change that.

They do fire off weapons in testing you know. I'm not sure what XE, is, but that's probably a VX-30 aircraft.

Homeboy, the first operational Growler was delivered to the RAG (VAQ-129) nearly TWO YEARS ago... :ok:

FC managed to get the slimers working. Tried my hand at gear compression with some tips from Fubar512, and well.... I'd rather play with an eel in a bathtub, it's more relieving, and quite shocking..... So FC made it clear it wasn't the greatest thing to do, and he was right, it wasn't. JAT81500 submitted one, but it's not the right version, so I'll wait for that. And it is an animation, not linked to the lights.

Actually, XE is the tail code for my squadron, VX-9. We are currently in the middle of the Op-eval of the EA-18G's. VAQ-129 is the RAG (Training Squadron) for the Prowler/Growlers so it has not yet reached full operational service yet.

Very nice pic with the HARM shoot EricJ. :good:

I was going to say VX-9 myself, but as said, was contemplating eels..... And no problem, and thank you!

No worries. As far as testing and evaluation is concerned, the codes go as follows:

VX-1 is JA

VX-4's was XF

VX-9 is XE

VX-20 has the word Force on the tail

VX-23's is SD

VX-30's code is BH

VX-31's is DD

Could you do an ambient occlusion pass as well? That'd look ace I think.
