JediMaster Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 So does the 9-41 let you update your Facebook page from the cockpit? Is there a jack for your iPod? What plane is that that looks like an E-2D? Quote

Canadair Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 May I suggest to treat the dorsal fairing as "pilot seat" and not "fake pilot", so that it will show when aircratfs are parked on airports? There is thread form FastCargo, about this Quote

Signum Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Looks great Lindr2, thanks for help, and good luck with this projects... Quote
JediMaster Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Ah, ok, yet another plane-that-never-was. They stuck a little too close to the E-2's layout, really. Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Ok but what do you want to change in the design?! Quote
JediMaster Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I don't know, but why does it look like an E-2 and not an E-1, say? They even have the heat exchanger in the same place, over the cabin at the wing leading edge! I mean, no one can accuse them of being copycats for any of the fighters or bombers in the last 50 years. Even the Forger only barely looks like a Harrier, and the Mi-28 is only superficially like any other attack helo. The Il-76 is even quite distinct from the contemporary C-141. The An-126 might be hard to tell from a C-5 if they had the same paint scheme, but this one would be very hard to tell from an E-2 aside from the winglets and the contra-rotating props that are far more common in Russian designs than they ever were in the West. I bet if it was flight tested they'd even have wound up having to add dihedral to the tail like the E-2 has, and maybe even more tailfins! In short, it just looks like Yakovlev was lazy and took the E-2 design as a baseline and went from there instead of making a scratch design from a set of requirements. Quote
+Viggen Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Then there is the Il-38...which looks like an exact P-3 clone. Quote
Gunrunner Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Mostly because the Il-18 looked much like an Electra, and when both sides chose an airliner as a basis for a coastal patrol plane, they chose from the same class of airframe. Quote
