I don't suppose it is even possible to make them into auto aiming turrets that track your ground targets?

I wish this was possible. Unfortunately the sim only supports air to air trainable guns at this stage so unfortunately you will have to go crazy trying to blow up a tank.

I considered the option of having the 25mm an air to air self defence trainable gun (like in Fighters Anthology) but then you couldn't use it for air to ground.

 

Besides, if a Flanker jumps you without a CAP, you're screwed anyway!

It would take pure genius to figure out a way to get the AI to rip a wet one out the left side and tear up some real estate!

 

I imagine it would be the coolest thing I ever saw in this series if it was possible, though...

Yeah you can forget about the Ai using it. However, you can hit targets yourself with some practice.

I scored several hits with it, but none on my intended targets. I don't think I should be using this when there are friendlies on the ground just yet.

For AC-130A Gunshpis,

 

There is PASKOS mod available,

 

then there is my mod of paskos for the Surprise package config

 

and there is a Mod of Paskos with the 105mm Howitzer available too.

Although if memory serves me correctly the 105mm was only mounted on the AC-130E and up.
