ZEPPELINS OVER PARIS !

 

 

 

 

 

 

Greetings All,

 

I spent some time this weekend trying my hand at creating a custom mission for our favorite sim, and I have just placed it in our download section for you folks to try if you like. Here is the scenario:

 

A pair of zeppelins are staging a daring dusk raid on Paris. You must scramble your Camels, which are stationed on the northern edge of the city, and climb to intercept the airships before they can reach the Eiffel Tower. But beware, they have waves of escorting Hun fighters tagging along, and despite the help you will receive from the Spad VII's of ESC15 you will still have your hands full. Remember, your primary objective is to destroy the brace of zeppelins before they can reach the Tower. And one more warning, a certain ace from Jasta 37 and his wingman have been reported in the area as well, so watch out. Don't forget to use the Camel's outstanding climbing abilities to stay above the enemy fighters as best you can, and to reach the airships as quickly as possible. And if you are skillful enough to down your targets you will still have to fight your way back home and land safely.

 

 

I have flown it several times as a "DiD" mission with no TAC screen and no warp, and it was a BLAST! Very challenging and a lot of fun, and even more so when you can actually knock down the Zeps. The two screenies I've posted are of me getting my tail salted by an Alb that snuck up on me whilst I was snapping the pics.

I didnt even notice your attacking plane there for a while. Best example of making sure to attack out of the sun I've ever seen i a sim!

Yes I did..

 

And with the Hannover shot, I wanted to try and replicate a painting I saw called 'Out of the Sun'

Wasting time with Paint Shop Pro....

 

I know nothing of art, so is this what you call "impressionism", or is it "post-impressionism", or is it just crap?

 

Anyway, everybody's getting all these beautiful, dramatic shots that I never seem able to catch, so I decided today to go in a different direction. Behold! PSP ain't just for making skins; I can also screw up perfectly good screenshots with it . I've attached both the before and after versions.

 

I set out to try to make something that looked like one of those old pen-and-ink drawings in old newspapers, but I discovered how to make this sort of "art" instead so just went with it. I'll get back to the newpaper drawing later.

 

Here's a couple of techniques you might like BH.

 

1. Take your image Promote background to a Layer and convert it to Greyscale.

2. Duplicate the layer twice and turn off the visibility on the second duplicate (top layer).

3. Select the first duplicate (second layer) and make it a Negative Image. Change the Layer Blend to Dodge... you should be left looking at an almost white canvas.

4. Apply a Gaussian blur at Radius 10. Voila! Pencil Sketch... you can add a texture for extra 'paperiness' if you want but not if you want to do the next step.

5. Select the second duplicate (top layer). Make visible. Apply a Hot Wax Coating. Change the Layer Blend to Burn. Adjust Opacity to 75% Now it's an Ink Print.

6. Apply the Spheres Texture at Size 25% Smoothing 1 Depth 1. Newspaper Print.

 

Here's the end results... apologies to Olham for making free with his screenie, it was a particularly good one for illustrating the above... skyscapes work best.

Oh schweet! Thanks for the tips. I'll have to get that a try. When I made my watercolor, I was just applying things at random because I didn't know what any of them did, which is why I was doing them all on 1 layer, too.

I must admit, that my contributions here are easy on Photoshop. You go to "Filters" > "Artistic Filters"

(or however they are called in English) > "Water colour". Adjust the various settings as you like them,

and this is what you get.

The other is just "Pastels" filter.

Oh, I'd recommend Photoshop anytime... it's much more powerful. But not everybody has it and with a bit more work Paintshop can produce effects of equal quality.

yeah i fly them, as far as flight models i fidn one fo the ones from the game that i think is close and then useing a program called air edit, form mudpond i tweck it till im happy wiht it
