Cockpit Fixes for SF2

Recommended Posts

Hi guys and girls

Am trying to get the Mirage Factory RF-4C into WOV2, am having a little problem with the cockpit.

So my theory here is, that some items in the original WOV.cat are not in the new version, or not in the same place in WOV2. So started to extract files from original WOV and place them in the cockpit folder in WOV2. And this is what I have so far.

So my questions are, has any one got the time to give me a list of images and files needed ? Or better still, could tell me what file calls for these images? I have looked in the cockpit.ini but can't find any link between the file and the images needed. Unless I am being blind

Thanks for your help

Well I had an idea, I copied the Cockpit.lod to my desktop, opened it in notepad. Most of it I couldn't read but if I scrolled down to the bottom I started to find image names. So copied these to the cockpit folder. Doing it this way meant I only copied 13 files across as against 39 when I created the picture in my first post.

But getting the read outs for the true speed and fuel quantity etc seem to be beyond me at the moment.

Cheers

OK, I'm going to let this one out of the Bag.........

This came to Me when a Member here was posting Russian Cameras with Weapon Information. I said to Myself, Why couldn't the Camera Positions of say, The RF-4 or U-2, RF-8...ect. Be Weapons Stations? Controlled by Attachment Points in the XYZ Axis. Thus making different Angles also. The Weapon? The Cameras with proper Nomeclature and set up as "Dead" Mavericks.( No Propulsion) Taking advantage of the Mavericks G&C's (Seeker Heads...TV Cameras) and can be selectible through Weapons Slection at the various Stations........

I did a ARBS Study, and I know this works........Just haven't found Time to get around to it.......

Well I feel on a roll now

So for the RF-101C you need to extract the following files from WOV ObjectData.CAT into the RF-101C cockpit folder in WOV 2.

F-4E_GAU3.BMP

A-4BGAU1.BMP

A-4E_GAU5.BMP

For the Mirage Factory A-7 C,D and E versions

Extract the following files from WOV ObjectData.CAT and copy into the A-7 cockpit folder in WOV 2.

F-4E_ATTITUDE2.BMP

F-4E_GAU3.BMP

F-4E_HUDGLASS.TGA

F-4E_HUDREFLECTION.TGA

F-4E_PANEL.BMP

If people find this helpful I will continue to add to this post as I transfer planes over. Otherwise if the non modders like me have got the basic idea will let you all get on with it.

Cheers

If an aircraft has a canopy tga (or something that is used to represent the canopy) it needs to go into the skins folder instead of the aircraft folder in order for the canopy to how up. If there is 5 skins folder the the file must go in each one.

B-57G Canberra cockpit

if you are using the upgrade by Tannethal you will need to copy the F-4B_Cockpit.LOD from the WOV objects.CAT.

To use the original cockpit copy the image F-4E_ATTITUDE.bmp from the WOV objects.CAT

RB-57E Canberra cockpit

This also needs the F-4E_ATTITUDE.bmp from the WOV objects.CAT

This is what I like to see...someone with a problem not only solving it, but taking it upon themselves to help others solve theirs.

For those that may not have noticed, Ordway's Early MiG Pits (15,17,19) have been rebuilt and are now available in the /Cockpits Downloads section.

http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=9178

Rebuild especially for the SF2 "NextGen" series, they also work quite well in the SF/Wo* "Classic Series" too.

Congratulations to snapper_21!!! This is how it's supposed to work, brothers and sisters!!!

To get the cockpit textures for the F-4E ARN-101 (Late), you'll need the following textures (plus F-4E LODs) from the WoE or WoV Objectdata.cat. The F-4E ARN-101 (Early) doesnt seem to need anything more than the LOD files brought over (aircraft and cockpit).

-- Discovered by Snapper21 for the RF-4 --

F-4E_ATTITUDE2.BMP

F-4E_ATTITUDE.BMP

F-4E_COWL.BMP

F-4E_GAU1.BMP

F-4E_GAU2.BMP

F-4E_GAU3.BMP

F-4E_GAU4.BMP

F-4E_GAU6.BMP

F-4E_MIRROR.BMP

F-4E_PANEL2.BMP

F-4E_PIT1.BMP

F-4E_radarPPI.bmp

F-4E_REFLEC1.TGA

F-4E_REFLEC2.TGA

F-4E_RWR.BMP

And these that I found:

F-4E_HUDGLASS

F-4E_HUDGLASSTOP

F-4E_HUDREFLECTION

F-4E_PANEL

F-5 Freedom Fighters by the Mirage Factory

For the A and C versions, I cheated. I copied all the files except the LODS from FastCargos excellent F-5B cockpit folder into the A and C cockpit folders.

For the F-5E I extracted the following files from the original WOV objects.cat

F-4E_COWL.BMP

F-4E_RWR.BMP

f-4e_HUDGlassTop.tga

f-4e_HUDReflection.tga

f-4e_panel.bmp

f-4e_attitude.bmp

F-4D_MIRROR.BMP

F-4E_REFLEC2.TGA

F-4E_REFLEC1.TGA

F-100D_ATTITUDE.BMP

F-4E_GAU4.BMP

While I am here for those wanting these aircraft for there WOV specific installs, the F-5A and C already have Vietnam era skins in the download , but you may want to try the following as well.

With Skypats Cat Extractor Tool, located in the Utilities/Tools in the SF/etc downloads section.

to answer the next question "How Do I Use It??", see here:

http://forum.combatace.com/topic/32706-using-skypats-cat-extraction-tool/

REMEMBER: this tool ONLY works on First Generation Sims (which you MUST have to extract the needed bist from).

Gerwin's Extractor works on ALL them, 1st Gen and NextGens.
