+DWCAce Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 When viewed from the top, it reminds me of a letter opener. Quote
+allenjb42 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I like the sports area at the stern for shipboard recreational activities during the cruise. Good for tennis, basketball or five-a-side football (soccer to you yanks), but they need some nets! Quote
+SUICIDAL Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 We can play a little game there. allenjb42, I'm messi and you Beckham. And enjoy it. Although I do not understand who say the ship's garbage. It fulfills the purpose for which it was built? Marcos Quote

Jug Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Some pics of the USS Independence (LCS-2) LCS= Littoral combat ship Enjoy Does anyone know what the mission tasking is for this beauty? I would withhold judgement on the looks of a modern ship until we see how she fights. The Thud wasn't pretty, but, as I recall, she fought well........... Quote
TX3RN0BILL Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 It's unconventional and therefore I like it - although the "90's cheesy slab-stealth look" would definitely look meaner if it were painted black... Quote
+MigBuster Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Looks mean and menacing - shame its only literally a combat ship....oh sorry a littoral combat ship....whatever :) Quote
+Typhoid Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Does anyone know what the mission tasking is for this beauty? I would withhold judgement on the looks of a modern ship until we see how she fights. The Thud wasn't pretty, but, as I recall, she fought well........... basically its just a new name for a Frigate or Corvette operating in close to the shoreline. I suspect that its a way over-priced, gold-plated high tech replacement for what we really need; a simple basic FFG hull that can fielded with various mission specific modules. Kind of like the FFG-7 class........ Quote
+JediMaster Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 On the plus side, if Godzilla or some other sea monster is in the water it can ram them at high speed like a knife!!! Quote
