What I'm Working On 1956 Add on to the Add on

Recommended Posts

that's from the Warpaint book!!

Crusader: actually, I fixed that too!! AND they still work as designed! I did, however, cheat a little. When you see the data ini, you'll see how. IIRC, it was Oliver's original idea, but used off something else that I just copied.

Fellas

What era specfic bombs should we add from the weps pack?

for the brits, the stock in-game UK500 and UK1000 should be just fine. The Expansion Pak also added the 60 lb rockets, so that's taken care of.

Other than the WW2 era 100, 250, 500 and 1000 pounders ..... those would be needed for the Mossi and Corsair. The Bad Guys ™ just get their usual Soviet stuff (excepting the Sea Fury -- brit bombs and rockets)

I just can't wait to see what Paulo has done with the Seahawks!!!

Paulo I got this from a good reliable Latvian connection.

This is from Warpaint book and it's the only picture (249°Sq.) I have found.

Some model kits have black stripes on the booms so I made a full Suez stripes version for 8° Squadron.

That's all.

NB lovely Corsairs, Kevin!

Paul, from experience with the RF-84F, most model kits are dead wrong...

In the case of the RF-84F most used the theoretical scheme of solid Yellow/Black/Yellow/Black/Yellow for both fuselage and wings when I found no photographic evidence for this scheme (the closest I got is for fuselage only, wings apparently "clean", on a plane I couldn't identify by number), especially for the planes depicted (they usually had a Yellow/Grey/White/Black/Yellow or Null/Black/Null/Black/Yellow scheme).

In the end I did all three schemes, applied those backed up by photography or several sources to the right planes and randomly assigned a scheme to the other planes.

The situation was complicated by the fact that depending on where (on Akrotiri or in France before shipping) and when the bands where applied the scheme was different (depending on available paint at the time).

In the end only 3 of my planes have a paint scheme I'm sure is right, the rest is mostly extrapolation for verisimilitude.

I have ordered a new source for Mousquetaire which should help clear things a bit (at least I hope so) but I still have no sure delay, I'll scan and post whatever we can use once I get my hands on it (if it's not too late).

It's actually funny that the more sources you get on the topic, the more confusing and contradictory the informations are.

Never truer words spoken. So I just compile the data and make an educated guess. Then when some one says its wrong, I bury them with information.

Thats make sense even in the moddeling world. You guys made me decide to buy both WOI2 and the expansion, I love the Seahawk too much too lose this opportunity.

In fact what we need sould be photos, but

there are few and not yet in colour photos about Suez ...

The bad news are that my home PC don't start up, so I'll be out of action for (I hope) a few days ...

Very sorry about that .... :fu2:

No problem Paul. I have Suez skins for the Seahawks already. So no rush.

What's left:

Skins for Hunter5, Venom, Sea Fury and F4U-7

Sea Fury is coming along. Lines re-drawn and adding detail now. White is hard to work with, there's little contrast to it so it's probably not going to look fantastic. Wasted a while on getting the decals to work - no, making them SF2 compatible wasn't the problem, seems the decal level was wrong. Looking at a day or two at most.

No worries about the decals JB. I got them covered and working. Just need the skin itself.

Venom and Sea Hawks will need time ...

My home/game PC don't starts (an A/C issue I think ...)

The "doctor" will take care of the "baby" this afternoon ...

So I'm out of action.

Sorry. :spiteful:

Paul

Hey Dave what about Sea Venoms?

The only one I know (and test) is in Capun's factory, but it need works ...

I'm not worried about the Sea Venoms. As it stands right now I have close to 27 flyable units. So if we do not have everything that was there I wont be too upset.

The skins Buny did for the Seahawk are quite fine. The Venom is the one that needs help then I would call it good.

To Wrench:

Looks like all addons are exact or close to real so to be precise - Akrotiri airfield has only one asphalt runway, dimensions: 8999 × 200 ft (2743 × 61 m). Satelite screenshots:

Dave: did I ever send you my new SF2 menu pak psds??? SOme day soon, I must write the readme and upload them. They have all the 'stock hot spots', but multiple layers so you can change the background pics to whatever you want (screenies, photos, generic sky, etc).

I chose to use the Large Runway4 for Akrotiri, as you can 'base' 6 squadrons there; it's large enough for the BIGGEST bombers, and looks cool besides. Paphos is a standard or garden variety runway 6, that 'bases' 3 squadrons. It's not just adding objects to terrains, but HOW said objects effect campaings and all the rest. The nearby cities, even though tiled and named, do not have any 'value added targets'. Too close to The Wall, and well out of range of anything but Egyptian Badgers (and maybe Beagles on 1-way missions), so the 'nothing to bomb here, move along' rule applies.

Wrench, you wrote that all done (on screenshot thread) - did you mean flattened airfield too? If yes, tell what to do (for my own work).

in the data ini, in the /Engine section:

SlowPropRPM=1000

FastPropRPM=2700

MaxPropRPM=3060

IdlePropRPM=1000

that's what bpao used; and knowing his work, I'd say they right on the money. Redline on the engine was around 3000-3200 rpm or thereabouts

Mabye change FastPropRPM= to 3000??? :dntknw: worth a shot! still keeps it below the redline.
