Hi

I'm lousy on hitting without a gunsight, but it would be interesting to see how good you are at hitting!

Cheers

29% so far in my Triplane Campaign, but then you can get pretty close in the ol' Tripe.

Also, as I have tracers off - it might be that I try to get closer before I open fire, rather than firing at long range and using tracers to guide my fire - so I might hit more, but not necessarily in the right place.

Don't know; where can I look it up?

But however my accuracy is - the Albatros is mounted with 1.000 rounds (the D.Va with 1.100 even),

and I have shot down 7 Pups in one flight with that ammo.

Now the question is: am I so good, or is the Pup just so fragile?

I dunno if it was cos I was filming it...but the OFF video I did, my shooting was pretty good...though I have never managed to do it again before or since!

(maybe I should always video it)

 mmmmmmmmm How do U figure the Varibles in accuarcy ? My Personal Best :

Albatross 2 a/c some rds left over

N-17 1 dest and 1 smokeing

N-24 1 dest Very little ammo left

N-17 Bis 3 possible no ammo

These were at normal ranges to close.:help: Useing a Twisty stick :pioneer:

I'd imagine the problem with these sorts of stats would be if you do a lot of ground attack strafing, as if they register the bullets fired on that as well then it's likely to lower your accuracy.

How to check your hit %, in today's OFF

Go into Workshop, second row from the left . . Player Stats . . ON

Upon your mission completion, you'll get a Squadron Debriefing

That page will state Rounds Fired, Rounds Hit, and Hit %

Thanks, UncleAl - you always know where what is. good.gif

What I meant was, you could be ordered to do a Scramble and down 3 craft with 100% accuracy (like that would ever happen. ) then the next mission you could be ordered to attack a railway station and start strafing stuff, then when you looked at your overall Dossier stats it'd show 50% accuracy, as it would put the stats of both sorties together.

And I don't think the ground attack Squadrons would much agree with it being about Air Combat.

I don't do much long range shooting at all and rarely try for those tricky deflection shots. I'm just not that good at them and I know it all too well. I'll only fire long range if I need to make the guy bank, climb or dive so I can get a better target and close in more. And even then I fire very few rounds. The fewest possible to get the effect I need. So by the time I really open fire with the intent to kill, as most of my videos show, I'm almost close enough to spit on the guy. In fact my problem isn't so much hitting the guy with my rounds, it's more about NOT hitting the guy with my plane. For that reason my % is usually between 39% and 52%. Most often in the mid 40's. It's not skill though. It's just being ballsy enough to decide I'm not going to open fire until my chances of missing are really, really slim. I'm depending on my plane being nimble enough to peel off the target at the last possible second in order to survive.

I should point out also that that is what I get flying my favorite plane, the Sopwith Tripe. Put me in a Fokker DVII and it drops a little. Put in a damn Nieuport XX where I can't see anything out the front window and my % drops so slow I miss the inside of a barn 80% of the time. The view is just too narrow for me. The plane type makes a BIG difference for me.

I average about 30%

The name of the game is to get so close you can't miss

But I find shooting accuracy varies a lot with the opponent

I fly Fokker DVII and I can't get close enough to Se5's and Spad's so accuracy falls

Camels are slower than me so shooting 40% is doable

I utilize a Force Feedback Stick, therefore my hit % will always be lower than if I used an X52

Al, I had an X52 and had a lot of trouble with hunting back and forth over the target

The thing was like a limp noodle and accuracy suffered (greaat stick in every other aspect though)

MG FFB does hurt accuracy but I find flight control FFB helps

I've seen your videos Widow

Amazing shooting indeed

Hellshade, you can lower the window on the earlier Nieups

IIRC, it's CTRL+C (Open Cockpit Command)

Single gun machines about 6-8%.

Twin gun machines about 10-12%.

My piloting skills have dropped since I only get to play about once a week now - and I am supposed to be retired! scenic.gif

I usually average 8-10% against fighters, as in hale fellows well met where most of the time I'm getting non-optimal snapshots. When I fly as German in Bloody April or thereabouts, I shoot considerably better because I can sit back behind helpless, unescorted Quirks, take careful aim, and make every shot count. Such pilots typically average 15-20% overall, brought down by trying to hit those pesky Nupes and Pups.

Playing DID campaign the guns are also set to less accurate. That does take some time to get use to with a FFB stick.

Is there really significance difference to control the rudders by pedals instead using the twist joystick function?

It's a night and day difference?

Well, I think partially it depends on what you are used to.

But, for flight controls the less 'blending' you have to do yourself per control, the more precise you can be in each axis.

As an example, say you're trying to fly in a slip...so you have put the stick to the left, while twisting it to the right. Imagine how unnatural that would feel on your wrist, vs using a rudder pedal.

I think rudder pedals are absolutely necessary when "slipping", especially when trying to establish a good lead angle when banking by "walking" your fire onto the target. But that's my opinion.

:tease: Well I am getting closer. hits are up by 1 percent A 13 % overall from 1000 rds However, Ive almost had 2 midairs for the 1 % gain. Needless to say, I am returning to 12 % because I cant handel the Mid airs.:suicide2:

The Bordeaux-Red Baron says:

Good hit percentage iss only necessary for zose who can only hav a singel gunn vizz 500 roundz.

Fly der "Dark Side" - get two Spandaus - feel free to vaste some ammunishonn!

You vill still shredder plenty off der enemies!

What is so bad about almost having a midair collision? It keeps you on your toes while you are flying and intimidates the hell out of your opponents! Even if you don't get any extra kills, you send the other guy home needing to change his shorts and afraid as hell of getting back into that cockpit again to face you tomorrow. If you can't kill them, I say the next best thing is to make them too afraid to fight ever again! :salute:

Heck, my goal is to be so close when I open fire that by the time I fly over his plane my ejected shell casings from the first 10 rounds are falling on his head.

Hi

Thanks for voting!

Nice to see that I’m not the only one in with 10-20% hit accuracy.

Cheers
