Wrench Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) since when did the ROC forces use Centurions??, or Isreali Pattons? I'd suggest start checking userlist inis from the object cats .. there are several items listed that are Middle East only use (M-113 ZPU for one --Egypt only, not exported) Don't forget the Type 59 and Type 69 PRC tanks, they're arond here somewheres.... Also, make triple damn sure ANYTHING that's DAT in NOT in the mod ... those are 'locked' permission only items, and their inclusion will only cause problems. (Brooklyn, for instance) Don't forget the 'targets/airbases' fix I uploaded a few months ago for Taiwan. And DO try to make the install instructions easier!! (as discussed in another thread). A seperate, standalone mods folder would be best for something like this. Pairs down what you have to upload, and what folks have to download. wrench kevin stein Edited November 24, 2010 by Wrench 1 Quote
+Spectre8750 Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) You're right Wrench, hehe, i will clean the Ground Objects up before i post it. And the Mods install? maybe i'll include an options.ini with instructions how to paste a path. Is it really that hard? Spectre8750 Edited November 24, 2010 by Spectre8750 Quote
Wrench Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 got any questions, or need some advice/help, pm me! Anything to get outta the damn Zagaros mountains... wrench kevin stein Quote
SayethWhaaaa Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 If you're doing a contemporary setting, you won't need any of those Mig-21s, Mig-15/17 or early model J-7s (C/D)s, J-6, Il-28s or even the F-86s for starters. And if you're adding USMC platforms, the F-35B and C would be nice additions. Now the E-2C is a nice piece of kit to use because several AFs in the region (JASDF, RSAF, RoCAF) all use or have used them, but any addition of it would be an end user decision, yeah, because you'd need DAT permissions to use it...? Guest rscsjsuso5 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 this screen might be useful, as i found it at insky Quote
eraser_tr Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 One suggestion: Instead of packing it all in a CAT file like Korea and it being entirely meant as a seperate entity, allow us to just drop it into an existing install. Quote
+Spectre8750 Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 One suggestion: Instead of packing it all in a CAT file like Korea and it being entirely meant as a seperate entity, allow us to just drop it into an existing install. You can do that as it is. And the .Cat file only contains Menu items. It needs to be packed to work properly and make for a clean setup. Spectre8750 Quote
Wrench Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Not true; not true at all. We've been running KAW and Indo-Pak with all the menu bits placed in the /Menu folder, and haven't encountered a SINGLE issue. wrench kevin stein Quote

Makes for an easier install and for intructions too. Thanks Spectre8750 Quote
+Spectre8750 Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 That's true as i just figuired out what your'e talking about. Makes for an easier install and for intructions too. Thanks Spectre8750 I take that back, I was right in the first place. If you browse from the Main Menu thru the single Missions or Campaigns and go back to th Main Menu it defaults to Stock Menus. So .cat'ing it and placing it in the Main Menu dir as the stock Menu's are placed, is as Stock like and full proof as it gets and wastes no more space. And if people would learn to read and fallow intructions and not assume i must mean something i didn't say, they could get the mods installed fine. Spectre8750 Quote
Wrench Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 And if people would learn to read and follow intructions Something I've been bitching about for years!!! ==================================== Again, not true .. if it's a stand alone mod, having the /Menu subfolder in the Mods folder take precesdence over anything in a cat file... Remember HOW these game work ... since Day 1, the engine ALWAYS looks for folders and files in the (old style) main game install, and (new style) in the mods folder (see screenies below -- one is the /Menu folder contents, and other the main menu screen in-game Of course, you can do it however you want too ... I'm just saying what works the easiest and simplest for DEUs wrench kevin stein Quote
+eburger68 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Wrench: I've seen the exact behavior that Spectre8750 is describing -- dropped custom menu screens. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen on some occasions, and the result is jarring. One minute you're in a themed XYZ mod; next minute you're suddenly looking at the default SF2 screens. The screens I've seen it happen with are the Main screen and the Campaign screen. You're right that the \Menu folder in the Mod folder SHOULD take precedence over what's in the .CATs, but there are occasions when the \Menu folder gets ignored for some reason -- undoubtedly a bug.
