tflash Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 15 december was the last flight of the Harrier GR.7. In my view quite a (sad) historic moment, that I would dare to compare to the demise of the Tomcat. The Harrier sure exits at its pinnacle: adding a sniper pod proved incredibly transformational, and almost compensated in one stroke all the inherent limitations of the design; I guess anyone would recognize the Harrier became a damn good CAS aircraft. The Harrier community deserves a salute, I would say!
Nesher Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 the entire Harrier fleet is retired? already? damn..
Derk Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Hope they will find a good home for them...... Houdoe, Derk
Slartibartfast Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 They had a good home... and now like everyone else they are getting kicked out on the street... Stupid waste!
+JediMaster Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 What was that, 2 months tops since the announcement? They are trying to cut their costs FAST.
+Sundowner Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Cutting costs, more like cutting the RAFs throat. We used to have the Royal Air Force, soon it will be the Royal Air Farce.
+allenjb42 Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 If they're going cheap maybe we could buy some, build a hangar in the basement of the Combatace Tower and a lift to the helipad on the roof?
Freiwillige Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Lets not forget that the USMC will have there AV8B's well into the future!
+JediMaster Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 They're hoping to get the F-35B ASAP to replace those 8Bs.
+ST0RM Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 There has been some talk of the USMC procuring the Harrier T.10/T.12s to supplement the TAV-8s. While they're at it, they might as well snatch up the GR.7s at a low price. -Storm
