I still use Olham's TIR profile with one minor change: I added just a bit more dead zone to the X and Y axes. Very nice.

Can any of you tell me if the profiles posted work on both TIR 5 and 4?

Thanks

Yes, they should Sir. I am running a TIR4 set-up with TIR5 software and they work well for me.

I believe all my values are the default settings. How do these custom values make for a better experience?

Shiloh, they alter the pan speeds and rates and can make for a more realistic 'feel' when moving your head about in the sim. Most of it boils down to personal taste more than anything.

TrackIR profiles are a science as well as an art. For true simulation viewing, set up manually or with my field-of-view manager OFFfov, the goal is to render the scene so objects appear at their true size and distance in the gameworld. To achieve this, TrackIR's Z-Axis should be disabled. Thus if you move an inch closer to the screen, your gages and guns in front of you should also appear to come an inch closer.

The Olham and elephant profiles linked above are set up for an arcade view. Move your head an inch closer to the screen, and your gages appear to move two or more inches toward you, distorting the scale of the scene. Enemy planes may be closer or farther away than they appear!

If you sit close to a big screen or multiple monitors and use OFFfov to configure a simulation view, you can disable the Z-Axis, for these profiles or your own, by just unchecking it on the Motion Adjustment section of the TrackIR profile:

Haha Lou, you forgot OFFramp, OFFput, and OFFset! :big_boss: Though I think OFFworld will be the most fun... but that's a secret for now.
