Spinners Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Wright Aeronautical F4W-1 Hurricane - VF-3, USS Lexington, US Navy, 1942 4
KJakker Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Where is that Lexington from? I would not mind seeing a version of that model updated to represent USS Saratoga, CV-3 in her post January 1944 configuration with 16 5inch/38's in four two gun and eight single mount, 23 quad 40mm and 2 twin 40mm mounts, and 16 20mm Oerlikon's.
Viggen Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 The Sea Hurricane wears US Navy colors very well! May I ask that you release this one?
+Wrench Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Lex and Sara, DAT models (there's 2 - one with the 8 inchers, on without)
Spinners Posted August 10, 2013 Author Posted August 10, 2013 The Sea Hurricane wears US Navy colors very well! May I ask that you release this one? Yes. I'll need to package it up first but I'll get around to it.
+Wrench Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 may I suggest you repaint the spinner ... use black. the red is FAR to visible, and could cause blue-on-blue incidents. those few USN birds that used a spinner/spinner cap were usually black (early sbds for example) also might want to create a 'standard" NS blue/NS gray, and have a start date of 05/1942, without the tail stripes and meatballs

ShrikeHawk Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Love it. The Sea Hurry (IIc?) looks good in USN uniform. 4x20mm vs. Zekes would've been very interesting!
Spinners Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Raven has very kindly given the F4W-1 some authentic US style antennae wires. I'll update the upload. 1
