Shit happens, or never repair an air mattress yourself!

A 41 years old guy from Germany tried to repair his damaged air mattress by himself. He put a sealer liquide from tire repair set in the mattress, an idea, which semed to be good at the first view.
Then he took the electrical compressor to inflate the air mattress, and then he forgott it.
The result was an heavy BOOM after a while. The windows and doors were blown out of his house, the roof  and the statical importend walls were damaged. Result: 150.000 Euro damage.
For that money you can easily buy some new air mattresses!!!

My guess is the sealer reinforced the mattress to the extent that it was allowed to inflate to a previously unattainable psi. When it finally burst it was a catastrophic failure and the overpressure was intense. A simple patch designed for the repair would've failed much earlier, and just the mattress and possibly some nearby objects like lights or other fragile objects would've been damaged.

Has little to do with the pressure and everything to do with the chemical he used to repair it:

You have to inform a shop if you use instant tire repair foam, or it might explode  :blackeye:
