+MigBuster Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Test pilot Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Brigadier John Selak, announced on his Facebook page first photographs Croatian MiG-21 in Ukraine with which these days are doing test flights before final acceptance. According to unofficial information, the maintenance and modernization of all three aircraft will be in Croatia during the celebrations of the Day of the Air Force and Air Defence in December.
+Gepard Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 As far as i can see, there are some new antennas (yellow markings). I guess, new communication system.
Stipe Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) Yes the only known upgrades are tho the navigation and comunication, no "abillity" upgrades... (BTW, the middle antena is there from the 2003 upgrade) Edited November 29, 2013 by Stipe
Stipe Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 (edited) http://www.defender.hr/republika-hrvatska/oruzane-snage/ekskluzivno-hrvatski-migovi-u-akciji-nad-ukrajinom.php Translation:Defender.hr published exclusive photos of flight test of the third consecutive MiG-21 of Odessa, which has not yet received the distinctive colors Croatian dice on the wings and tail planes. Also, it is evident that no airplane serial numbers 133 that belong to him. Unofficially, we learn that the third aircraft will begin painting early next week. Edited November 30, 2013 by Stipe
Derk Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Great, can we have one on the KLu Open Days next year ?
+Stratos Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 What kind of weaponry this "new" birds can carry? Modern A-A and or A-G missiles?
Stipe Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 There is no information, but brobably nothing new
+Stratos Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 New nav systems it seems. Wondering what are the capabilities of this birds right now, both in weapons and systems.
Stipe Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Only the navigation and comunication systems are upgraded (probably) and we will stick to the R-60 (also probably).
+Brain32 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Pure air policing, no significant upgrades, love the paint btw.
+Stratos Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The Bison update is expensive? I think it gives a very nice lift to the Fishbed!
+Brain32 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Bison update is not expensive but our airframes are dangerously nearing the end of resources...
+JediMaster Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Last thing you want or need is to spend millions on better cockpits and radars to have them falling out of the sky due to wing cracks or something. 1
Stipe Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 One Croatian MiG-21 UMD had an emergency landing because of the glass falling off...
+Gepard Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Shit happens. A german MiG-29 lost the canopy some years ago. No problem at all.
Stipe Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 Bird strikes are also a problem for our MiGs
+JediMaster Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I think bird strikes are a problem for every plane, that's more a geographic concern than anything else.
