+MigBuster Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Things not going so well...... On Jun. 10, Russia’s 5th generation stealth fighter plane Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA – Perspektivny Aviatsionny Kompleks Frontovoy Aviatsii—Future Tactical Air System) which since February has been a subject of state test programme in Zhukovski, caught fire on landing. The landing was succesful and Sergey Bogdan, the Russian test pilot who flew the T-50 during the test flight, was unharmed. Sukhoi officials claim that the fire was local, and was quickly extinguished. The fighter is to be repaired. Two remaining examples of T-50 are undergoing ground tests and static tests. According to the official stance of the Sukhoi company, the incident will not have an impact on the test program, and the proceedings are to be continued in accordance with the planned schedule. http://theaviationist.com/2014/06/10/t-50-catches-fire/ Just imagine the frenzy if this happened to the F-35!! 2 Quote
+Coupi Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) Go from these T-50 prototypes to... an operationnal Su-? is a long way! For example our Rafale "Discret" project, the first flights began around 1991. IOC for "Marine" standard F1 only began in 2004 and for standard F2 IOC spent in 2006. Today, mid 2014, our full standard F3.3' is operational and the F3.4+ will be introduced in 2015... and F3-R standard only in 2018-19! Many thanks for the news! Coupi. +SayethWhaaaa Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Just imagine the frenzy if this happened to the F-35!! Couldn't hurt it. It might burn enough layers of fat off the plane to improve it's performance to begin resembling that of a fighter... Quote
macelena Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I bet uncle Vlad put that fire down by peeing into it. Waiting for RT to show the clip Quote
+JediMaster Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I guess no one remembers the loss of the YF-22 prototype on landing? 1 Quote
