Return the civilian mod to life?

Recommended Posts

actually, it is/was a fairly simple matter to change over to GCE tiles -- one simply tosses the TFD out the airlock, and generate a new one from the Germany Texture list (or in this case, my ww2 Norway -- almost the same thing--) Then, "autotile", and "add transitions".

The problem is, the GCE texture list give precedence to all the flipping road tile ... and misreads the height field, so all the "steps" down to the sea are either "jungle" (ok, forest) or sea.

The hand retilling is to remove all the extraneaous BS road tiles, and relocate the cities and airbases

see below, the easy part is done (well, sort of!)

I think I can give it a go. Just upload the map and send me a PM.

here's a base skin for the Catalna, Hemet Valley Flying services. have to find the registration numbers (N****), and the modex (they had had least 6, one numbered 54)

as you can see in the background, some tile adjustments are still needed to remove the tsunami issues on some of the land/sea (fjord?) interface

I'm also looking at Gepard's Zlin, going to give it a better cockpit and fiddle the FM a bit. It's a nice little bird!

now...if someone could make a model of Minas Tirith, I've got a superb cliff to hang it from... !!! LOL!!!

So, no need help with the terrain? The Catalina looks cool..

Spillone told me he will search for the water spray effect, and I got the fire enemy working too.

I'll keep working at the terrain until I can't!! I may still pass it along, or have you tell me what you'd like to add. I won't know how usable the eye will be until Sept 4, on the 1 day post-op exam.

(personally, I'd like a 3d guy to build us Piston Peak!!)

for the stand alone mods folder, so I can "know for certain which game I'm playing", I made a new main screen.

Just for fun, ya know?!!

And de-militarized!! Cool.

Wrench can we see some pics of the terrain please?

You know what will be cool?

A couple of hospitals with helipad for MedEvac, some small forest cabins for landing in small "runways", maybe a police car model...

I hope to be sending the terrain over to you at the beginning of the week for your examination. There's some basic cities placed, but no real targets -- the main problem is that anything with point values can and will be attacked by (whatever!) in STRIKE missions. That's an easy fix in the types ini., though

but..

every terrain needs a friendly and enemy side ... even if only one target area is Red.  This is main issue, in how to limit aircraft (like removing ALL fighters and bombers and whatnots that aren't fire fighters). But that can be figured out later

Looking forward to try that terrain.

As a enemy aircraft, what If we use a civilian drone went rogue? We can shoot it down with water. About Enemy area, maybe is a freaking idea, but why not to create a area of damncommie evil CROPS. Yes, CROPS. Some tiny enemy targets (maybe a really small 3d box) hidden in the TOD crops, maize or wheat. A target that can be killed (without resulting smoke) by a cluster bomb like a crop dusting plane, this way we will have the enemy area AND we will be able to add another Civilian aircraft mission. Crop Dusting.

index.php?app=gallery&module=images&sect

In Stary Germany the crops are there, but we will need to add some kind of 3d plant to hide the enemy target and make the crop dusting more realistic.

one still needs an enemy airbase (of which there are 2 at present)

one can make a target item with "nolod" as the model

as to mission types, we're limited to what's in the game engine

SWEEP, CAP, ESCORT, STRIKE, SEAD, CAS, ARMED_RECON, RECON, INTERCEPT, ANTI_SHIP, NAVAL_SEARCH, NAVAL_STRIKE

these can be limited to certain types, by statements in the terrains' main ini

But the ENEMY airbase can be "ENEMY" only in the name If we don't place any AAA or SAM there, right? We will still be able to land and take off there. Or we can build a tiny strip for smugglers flights. lol

for missions, we can STRIKE those crops and make CAS on those fires threatening the wild life and our valiant firefighter brigade. Right?

Indeed, I've already removed ALL the AAA and SAM batteries (just one Red SAM). Having a single enemy base gives them (aircraft) a spawning point.

---

as requested, here's a few shots. To borrow from Ursula K. LeGuinn, "The Word for World Is Forest"

(those escarpments are about 9500-10000 feet high)

The forest tgas still have the "pop into view", even though my horizon is set to normal. Can't remember what the fix was, and will have to find it

Will also have to redo all the river tiles, changing them to blue instead of polluted green. This is a pure and uncompromised environment -- polluters are punished severely (fed to bears and Sasquatch and the like)

Looks great, will be possible to use the Stary Germany terrain so we can use his crop fields?

as long as they are direct replacements, there should be no issue. It'll also allow for summer/fall/spring seasons. Again, something I"ll have to check

ok .... go the link below (Warbird Information Exchange)

the thread linked is for fire fighting aircraft. You'll see what I'm up against!! I think I might be needing help in skinning and decaling!! Finding the registration numbers is a bit of a nightmare!

Now, mind you 98% of these are "local" -- meaning southern California! Some very cool stuff I missed out on!!

also, got the 4 season tiles working. shot below is "autumn"

Kevin the link is just amazing! So many different tankers! Will really love one of those twin engined onew, the Tracker, the P61 or the Tigercat will be just amazing.

The terrain looks really beautiful, cannot wait.

And I got the fire working, thanks to Gepard. No idea of why but I can only see a fire at the moment. Will be better If one can find several fires at a certain location.

Hemet also had TBMs

which we don't.

even if the majority of users had access, they're the wrong "shape".

we (meaning I) am planning to ONLY use aircraft here at CA, which are freely available to all. With no restrictions or complications

oth, that decal set is jus what a needed for the HVFS logo! Great find!!
