Wrench 9,848 Posted October 16, 2015 I get this (down at the bottom of the screen capture) on every page I open, even if I don't mouse over anything! If I ignore it, instead of canceling or just closing it, is turns yellow and kind of blinks a bit Any idea what it is?? TIA
claw 17 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) Some googling reveiled this (seems to be rather harmless but only annoying): "Based on some digging I've done, moatads.com is a website that seems to specialize in web analytics. It's difficult to tell who owns it, although the nameservers point to Amazon Web Service, so whoever owns it is using Amazon's servers to operate the service. It can show up as v4.moatads.com or js.moatads.com, depending on whether it is using cookies or Javascript to monitor your behavior on the Internet. It's adware or a potentially unwanted program. It's appearing in your temporary Internet files because that's where things like cookies get stored. You can delete them. Go to Control Panel>Internet options. On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files, and select the Delete all offline content checkbox, then click OK, and click OK again. Then delete all the cookies." Hope this helps. Edited October 16, 2015 by claw

+Erik 1,812 Posted October 16, 2015 Yeah this is a javascript you've collected somewhere. Clear your browser cache and also clear your java cache. Control panel > java > find the flush cache option

+Erik 1,812 Posted October 17, 2015 It's not a complicated thing. It's a simple if statement in the code, if friends equals zero don't show the icon. This is working as intended.

+Erik 1,812 Posted October 18, 2015 Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php AdwCleaner:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Removal-Tools/AdwCleaner.shtml SuperAntispyware:http://www.superantispyware.com/ Microsoft Safety Scanner:http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx Windows Defender:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-defender Spybot Search & Destroy:http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Kasperky Free Security Scan:http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller. +Erik 1,812 Posted October 18, 2015 I don't know if you cleared your java cache or not, I mentioned it yesterday but this is where it's coming from not your browser cache. To clear it you have to go into the control panel > java console > clear browser cache ALSO Set your java cache size in the java console to 0kb or turn off caching. This will prevent java from storing on your machine at all which is beneficial for a lot of reasons especially if you like windows explorer. You don't need the cache (storing java on your machine) usually they are so small and with today's internet speeds downloading scripts each time you visit a page takes milliseconds. Save yourself the hassle and disable java caching.
Wrench 9,848 Posted October 19, 2015 the only thing that's even close to caching is the check box "Keep temporary files on my computer" would that be it? It's now turned off I'd lowered the allowed space, but it wouldn't go below 1 MB. Now, as you can see, it's all greyed out

Wrench 9,848 Posted October 19, 2015 and still getting it, boss. Did Malwarebytes scan, ESET hasn't caught anything nor has window's defender.
+Erik 1,812 Posted October 19, 2015 Okay you're going to have make a safemode disk which will run your antivirus without the operating system being loaded. To do this you'll want to research how either through Kasperky's or AVG support. They'll teach you the process and get you everything you need. Of course your could always remove the drive and slave it to another machine and do the same thing by scanning that drive. There are also manual removal steps but I recommend trying the above first. The thing you've got is called JS/WORM, any search should give you more support. Erik http://free.avg.com/us-en/226386- How to http://www.avg.com/us-en/free-antivirus-protection- Free AVG antivirus, get it. Personally recommend this, never had a problem or cost me a cent. Has an upgrade nag to switch to the pro version (costs $$$) at first install and when it upgrades but it's nothing and it's not annoying. Good luck!
