+Geezer Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) With gterl's blessing, I intend to make a hi-res version of his excellent mod, just to see how far the old FE2 game engine can be pushed. It will include new ground objects as well as aircraft. Shots below of German and French ground object progress. Edited December 30, 2016 by Geezer 3 Quote
+Geezer Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 After a little cheese and wine, Gaspard buzzes some French grunts... 2 Quote
+Geezer Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 (edited) After schnapps und schnitzel, Helmut decides to buzz some German grunts. If time, motivation, and the game engine permit, I hope to add LOTS of rear area targets - such as supply depots - because modern armies usually have more guys in the rear than trigger pullers at the front. If properly defended by fighters and flak, this should make for lots of interesting missions. Edited December 31, 2016 by Geezer 3 Quote

LeGrandC Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 (edited) Thanks a lot Gterl, this reworked terrain is great. It works fine for me in FE2, although in the Data.INI file I have changed the effects references to the FE2 versions, for example EffectShaderName=terTerrainEffect.fx instead of EffectShaderName=TerrainEffect2.fx One small problem I notice is that the cows and telephone poles look a bit odd, as if the TGA file for them is not working. I see that they are on the file Venkov.TGA, and this is present and seems to be a proper TGA file, but the cows show up as a white rectangle with a cow painted on it, as if the TGA file is not working. Same thing happens with the telephone poles. Maybe this is a problem with FE2, I don't know. Apart from this minor problem, great job! Edited January 2, 2017 by LeGrandC Quote
+gterl Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 Hi - just double-checked everything and ... 1. It's not only the cows and tel-pole, but also the fence (if you look closely on your print-screen you'll see it) 2. Double-checked the 'offending' TGA, but could not find any issues. The corresponding alpha-channel map exists and works on my copy (sorry only have FE-Gold) Possible solutions a) Try to change back your effects within Data-INI b) The exactly same TGA is used within Jan Tumas original files. So if you've these make a search for 'Venkov.tga' a copy that into the Vosges folder (altough it has to be exactly the same) I'll check again once I'm back at home... rgds gt Quote
+gterl Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 ok, checked, sorry nothing on my installation ...again I've FE-GOLD checked cows, buildings, fences, trees, should everything be ok ..but just in case...attached is the venkov.tga from my installation Venkov.rar 3 Quote
Crawford Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I was very surprised when I met here these strange guys. Of course, this does not diminish the importance of the work done by you. Thank you! Quote

Thank you! Mine were purple too. I think that was the color included in the original file (Heck Mitchell's WWI Poor Bloody Infantry, from 2006.) I did some Photoshop work quite some time ago to make them more blue. Not perfect, but better. NewFrenchSkins.zip 1 Quote

I would have acted in that way. Quote
