+daddyairplanes Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 well, have come into a decal problem thats baffling me. trying to put numbers on the nose gear doors on the FB-111A, and it shows up in Mues LODviewer, but not in game. have made sure names match, numbers are in range for the mesh, and tried every variant of DecalMaxLOD= from 1 to 4 and even completely removed. any ideas? these are the entries in the decal.ini [Decal012] MeshName=RightNoseGearDoor DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=FB-111A/SAC/D/noNumR Position=5.95,-1.075 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.20 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal013] MeshName=LeftNoseGearDoor DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=FB-111A/SAC/D/noNumL Position=5.95,-1.075 Rotation=0.0 Scale=2.20 DecalMaxLOD=4 Quote
amariani Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 Try DecalFacing=BOTTOM, it always works for me. You might need to play with the 'Rotation=xxx' entry too. Quote
amariani Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 [Decal012] MeshName=Main_Gear_Door_2_L DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=P-51D_PTO/21FG/531FS/LGDoor Position=-1.33,0.38 Rotation=270.00 Reverse=FALSE Scale=0.90 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal013] MeshName=Main_Gear_Door_1_R DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=P-51D_PTO/21FG/531FS/LGDoorR Position=1.33,0.38 Rotation=90.00 Reverse=FALSE Scale=0.90 DecalMaxLOD=3 1 Quote
+daddyairplanes Posted October 19, 2019 Author Posted October 19, 2019 will play some but changed only the right side to BOTTOM and adjusted numbers, and both disappeared in LODviewer! Quote
+Cliff7600 Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 it's from my own decals addition so the filenameformat and scale should be adjusted : [Decal010] MeshName=LeftNoseGearDoor DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=FB-111A/380BW/D/BFB111N Position=-0.25,5.8 Rotation=-90.0 Scale=1.0 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal011] MeshName=RightNoseGearDoor DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=FB-111A/380BW/D/BFB111N Position=0.25,5.8 Rotation=90.0 Scale=1.0 DecalMaxLOD=3 It seems it's the same 3D model. 2 Quote
amariani Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 Try these coordinates: 0.25,5.75 for right side -0.25,5.75 for left side 1 Quote
+daddyairplanes Posted October 19, 2019 Author Posted October 19, 2019 ok got it fixed. i had tried to do bottom as well, but forgot that the right side is positive not negative, so my coordinate of -0.32,5.95 was tryin to put it on the wrong door! still gotta dial in but problem solved it would have been really bad if i couldnt get that workin right, as the 509th BW put their nose arts on the doors! and nice gear doors amariani, but how long til the brass says to cover them up? 2 Quote

I have spent hours trying to figure some mistakes out and in the end with some issues I had to give up. 1 Quote

mue Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Note: The LODViewer has a bug. If you reload textures while an animation is "shown" (like in the first post, where the gear is extended and the gear doors are open) then the decals are (erroneously) applied to the current (animated) position of the mesh and not the original one. 2 Quote
+Veltro2k Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 (edited) yep , cant tell you how many times I was stumped with that same overlook... as I would say " so simple a 5th grader could have figured it out". Unfortunately there is never one around when you need him LOL Edited October 20, 2019 by Veltro2k 1 2 Quote
