Reichenberg II

Recommended Posts

The Reichenberg was the first and last plane I created in 2010, but with some recently acquired knowledge I felt the model should benefit from it, hence II. The initial model had it's cockpit more integrated into the fuselage but pictures show it was more of a small cubicle on top of the body. The old version also only used 6 sides and now 10. It may be further improved someday but for now this is where it stands. Weapons wil be added later too.

As usual a rock solid R/S, new skin, semi 3D pilot (as in the Ohka) and dashboard (not visible yet in this picture but it's already there).

Yes it is. There were plans for suicide attacks and a squadron for this was created but Adolf was against using it as such. I believe it's in SWOTL, however most of those planes were too late to make a difference. It was created because all planes are flyable in EAWPRO, including the V1 and I want it to behave as a normal flyable plane online. By doing this the ramjet can be used later and/or adapted for something else. The Americans later adapted their own version of this plane but it was probably more important for rocket technology then a war plane, after all jets became the preferred choice of weapon.

I believe that “theoretically” it wasn’t a suicide bomb, the official idea was that the pilot would set the thing on course to the target, release the canopy, then clamber out (no bang seat), and parachute down to safety (captivity?). However. Consider that it would be doing 350kt or more, look at that great big pulse jet right above and behind the cockpit, and imagine the chances of a successful bale out.

Not perhaps a job for a chap seeking a long and successful career in the Luftwaffe.

An alternative color scheme for this plane. I hope people are noticing that these models are not suffering from flaws like for instance horizontal stabilisers not sitting behind the vertical stabiliser or shining through it, or disappearing polygons or parts at certain viewing angles. That's what a proper Rendering Sequence implies, a rock solid plane, no matter at which angle it's viewed.

Told ya it can be any shape. This is what the 100% 3D models are all about. Call it a super tweak, but one that's really working. It's about fixing other 3D models which have R/S issues, which is about 99% of what's out there. You have to take my word for it that it's 100 working and when finished I'll proof it too. But I guess those who're working with 3D models don't really need that proof, right?

Derived from my Reichenberg and still carrying some of it's details but with a fully working Rendering Sequence. There is a pilot inside too but I couldn't use the Reichenberg's tranparency file but he's in there. The skin is largely from the Reichenberg with a white overlay and all colors removed from the plane and a quick Nippon dot replacing the German insignia. Later a proper skin with proper shading will be added but first the model needs to be tweaked so all V1 details are properly adapted to get the model as it should be. Notice that the model has 8 sides, like my Reichenberg, giving it a rounder shape then the stock V1. Couldn't squeeze more out of it due to the model's small size which limits the circumference of a circle polygon. However large planes can use this technique too and may be able to use 10 or 12 sides.

In line with the latest weapons loadout expansion, which adds some 7 or 8 new selectable weapons to EAWPRO the FritzX guided bomb was created. The bomb with an 800 KG warhead was used in anti shipping raids and carried by the JU 88 amongst others. The plan is to use every available weapon slot and hopefully make em work too. The FritzX for now is a selfpropelled weapon with a high drop ratio since human control of guided missiles or bombs is not yet programmed in EAW, so it'll have to do for now.

Using a very old texture design which used to be UHR (= 512 x 256) redesigned for standard texture size 256 x 256 in 8 bit. 3D model may still change as it was selected from my base library of models. Another one may be more impressive, you never know.
