Hi all, I can't get the linear bomb bay to carry the nuclear store train. I see the latest RA-5C uses fake pilot for the fuel tank option but I really want the nuke option. Anyone know how to get this working in SF-2 ?

RA-5C's don't carry any weapons. So, it wouldn't be using a 'fake pilot' for anything. (I take it you not using the most recently uploaded Recce Vigi??)

perhaps in my Nam skin pack, there is fake pilot -'fuel tank tail cone gizmo' so the cone is always present on aircraft ...

from research on nukes, the store train on the Vigi wasnt too reliable in tests, and the Navy lost its manned bomber strategic mission when Kennedy took office (the President preferring ballistic missiles to bombers)

if ya gotta have nukes, i'd mount underwing and use the internal tanks for gas. is this for the FA-5C by chance

My original release of the A-5 and RA-5C came with storetrains for the Mk-27 and Mk-43 nukes and were set up to use them. I think the latest version of the A-5A definitely has them. On the RA-5C I guess whoever did the latest repackaging of it disabled them just because.

I have the A5A v 3.0 loaded which wont give me an option to load anything in the linear bay on the loadout screen and appears with the "empty tube" bomb bay when flown (the pack does contain the original Weapons)

Also,I was using Julhelm's RA-5C Block 10 and another A5B both of which were ported from SF-1 ?

Maybe you need to use the weapon editor to add the weapons to the dat file? I haven't modded the game in years so can't remember well. It would be nice if some of the knowledgeable people here could help you out instead of telling you not to use them because historical accuracy.

I don't believe that a weapons editor is required for SF-2 ? In all honesty the guy's 'n gals on this site have always been supportive and helpful . The  RA-5C Block 10 model uses the "Fake pilot" method to have a tail cone permanently in place.

this is from my skin pack.

I've made this way because I always do things my way - like it or not. Generally, there is always a good explanation of 'flight path'

if I want to have a specific, certain solution. Because that pack is dedicated to Nam and obviously RA-5C in Nam did not carry Nukes. And, RA-5C generally did not carry nukes.

Simply - delete fake pilot lines from data ini. It will not use fake pilot. Fake pilot - in fact is , Julhelm 'weapon' that I put in RA-5C ass. To represent ...as I said before.

Correct lines in data ini files at weapon stations make sure that it can carry weapon type NUC and BOMB...and all will be well. Make sure you have nukes from Julhem pack.

Yes, weapon editor is not required in SF2 but believe me, it is more convenient. I would say it is required to have easy weapon mod solutions.

basically what you need to do is a basic simplest modding - editing  of ini files. No witchcraft required.

blasphemy! heresy! ini editing is the purest form of witchcraft in SF2, with flight models being mastery of the darkest arts:lol:

All weapons in the A-5A v3.0 pack are lack of [WeaponData]

For example you should add these words to the 'A-5A_Mk27.ini'

[WeaponData]
ObjectFullName=Mk.27 Nuclear Storetrainb
ObjectDataFile=A-5A_Mk27_DATA.INI

(Sorry if my English is not good)

      Hi folks,this is my quick 'n dirty conversion of the RA-5C to a fleet defence / attack platform. A/G loadouts in progress and some skinning work needed !

      One of the most extensive videos I have found on the Vigilante. The A-5 and A-3 always seemed to be those big "mysterious" background aircraft you would see in naval aviation photos from the 60s-80s.
