I have been having this issue with the runway number marking if I look at it from a left angle, for example, it looks good but the minute I change the camera angle to right it looks underground. overall they are all at 0 levels in max.  the texture is jpg for all my files and I have tried the tag and BMP but is the same.  Please someone tell me what I am not seeing.

in Max

is the runway region (the terrain) completly flat?? As in the "flatten airfield" function of the terrain editor.

What little I know of MAX (and it's VERY little), is if it shows correctly in your view, it should (the operative word!) be ok in game

I've seen that "floating" number thing even on stock runways when the terrain is not flattened

Try xform reset on it...recentre pivot and re-export...as you know pivot set to base of object ;)

I have done that before and I just redid it just in case but no luck. I ever shorten the runway with no luck too :stars:

The terrain may be flat, but that does not suffice. You need to make sure that the tag value of the tiles is set to 0, you can see it via TFDtool. If tiles' tags are not set to 0, you can easily tweak the values with the latest version of TFDtool.

Yes you are correct, all 4 titles are set to 0

Perhaps a TAG issue. Check in TFD Tool if TAG is =0.

I already mentioned this, please do not repeat things. It is not a tag issue, gkabs confirmed it.
