  1. One of my new scripts is failing to pull members into the group set, give me a little bit to work out why.
  2. One of the two subscriptions listed below is required to download files from our site. PAID SUBSCRIPTIONS You can help us support the site by purchasing a paid subscription here: https://combatace.com/subscriptions/ Paid subscriptions not only help us support what we do here but they also provide account perks. No waiting for downloads, no caps on download speed, increased account storage space for attachments, messages, and much more. If you can afford to chip in we'd appreciate your support and say thank you in advance. Paid memberships will function independently and exclusively as they always have. FREE SUBSCRIPTION A free subscription is provided to accounts that meet the requirements below. A free subscription will allow you to download 2 files per day or within a 24-hour period. Download counter explained: You download a file at 14:30 hours on Thursday it fills one download slot until 14:30:01 Friday. Once this record is removed you can download another file in it's place. You have two of these free slots, each can be used once per 24-hours. This provides 2 free files per day. You need to have a free subscription or paid subscription to download files. Free subscriptions are placed automatically by our system on your account when you meet the following. REQUIREMENTS 1. Your account is 15 days old or older. 2. You've made a minimum of 2 forum posts. Interact in the forums, introduce yourself here, or post about something you're interested in. 3. Log out and log in. Top Right Corner > Click your user image > Sign Out > Close your browser > Open browser > Sign in to reset our user salt.
  3. New program implemented. FREE Memberships are now automatic and provide 1 file per day. If the system isn't abused we can discuss increasing the number of downloads the membership provides. The FREE Membership is now automatic and it's issued when you meet these guidelines. 1. Your account is 30 days or older. 2. Your account has made a post in the forums in the last 45 days. If you meet these two requirements NEW accounts AKA the now AIRMAN BASIC accounts will promote to AIRMAN accounts and provide the FREE Membership automatically. Existing members, if you make a post in the forums your account will upgrade automatically. Why is a post in the forums needed, so we can add more details to your account profile. Those details can be matched against other accounts, even those with no posts, and we'll go back to quietly suspending accounts that abuse the system by creating duplicate accounts. The 30 day delay is the pause built in to stop people from creating multi accounts. If this works we can expand on the idea. Paid memberships will function independently and exclusively as they always have.
  4. Place holders while I implement some of this.
  5. Mue I really don't have time for this right now. It's over a $1000 a month to host high availability live data like ours. I research it every month in hopes the prices come down. It's not like using cloud storage like you'd buy for one-drive or from amazon, those prices are dirt cheap because it's low access content.
  6. Ive reached out multiple times with no answer. I will also add our traffic is skewed really heavily with Europe, South America, and Africa being primary aggressors, the US is in the mix with China and Malaysia right behind them.
  7. I am sleep deprived and working on caffeine only. I fix, no worries.
  8. So the problem is you lost your modder status not that the forum is jenky. I fix, no worries.
  9. It's intended space for the download system to post to that category but not members. Members should be able to reply in that space but not post new topics. Admins, and modders should have access to post there as well but I'll have to check the settings. That's what I remember anyway.

    Modders

That's hilarious .. the name of our Apache machine is Dozer and MySQL runs on Trinity.
  11. The two mods you uploaded, thank you I'll get those removed right away. I have been more transparent about this topic, more than anyone I know, that statement alone is offensive. I have churned through countless posts in the past and disclosed our situation many times, your questions are not new. Our current port 80 accessible files reside on just over 2G of physical space, db and system files currently hovering around 1G. We are housed in a Class I data center in North America that sits on global fiber giving us access to push 1 gigabyte of data every second. We are a clustered running on Linux supported metal and current AMP distributions depending on the machine. Our MDU consists of Tier I and Tier II backbones so we don't use a provider we use many at the same time based on traffic peering and routes. Our bandwidth monthly aggregate average is 2.3 to 2.4 TB, peaks are 5TB and higher. The quick math is that's 1000GB = 1TB. Spikes and use don't translate very well into useful information. What about a reverse proxy setup? That's the most out of left field question ever. A reverse proxy would conceal our machines behind a network layer so they become invisible. That layer would destroy throughput and normal access to the site by users and is the absolute opposite of what we'd want. As I mentioned earlier you are not connecting to a Slackware box sitting in my basement. We have a fully established network of gear sitting on the edge of some of the world's most powerful ports directly connected to the global internet. Our cost's consist of three primary vectors when it relates to what we do. 1. Cabinet Space: we rent space in a hardware cabinet that is the physical space where our servers reside, they are sold in 1U units and we occupy 4 of them. 2. Bandwidth: we don't have a "plan" like a home user. We buy our bandwidth by the GB bucket which again doesn't relate well to use or throughput, it's a total aggregate of overhead, inbound, and outbound traffic. 3. Administrative Costs: This would include everything from software licensing fees, domain related fees, taxes and accounting, IP related fees, insurance, and the list goes on. What does it cost to run this place? Our base cost to sit idle is $30 per day add connectivity $40-$45 per day and those are averaged days, we often spike way above those numbers with daily costs getting into the $70 range. What are you going to optimize? Put this same setup on the cloud and you're looking at doubling our costs. On the cloud bandwidth is cheap but the disk space costs are not. Things are not getting cheaper anywhere, especially here America. We aren't buying a Telstra Unlimited Data Plan for $129 AUD per month mate, I hope that's apparent. This was a time sink, and it likely won't happen again. Be well.
  12. As EricJ mentioned and as the other posts have mentioned that project is under review for retooling due to abuse.
  13. Click your member icon top right corner, under your name it should show your current rank and progress to the next rank using the new system which is not personalized. It's the one showing those funny badges over our images to the left, like I have a red circle with what look a large lady bending over to put on skirt. It's really humorous but I think we can improve it.
  14. You guys are looking at all the wrong things. This is what CA really looks like to me, this IS the pretty stuff.

    Modders

@Wrench is probably the place to start, he's got all the Modders on speed dial in his 1995 Motorola flip phone. I just keep the rubbish bins empty around here. Photo of the real moneymaker below.
  16. Fawk'in a right, and the best kind of people on the g'dang planet.
  17. Ask an intelligent question and I might feel compelled to answer. I have no idea what you mean by "hosting arrangements". We are a not a guest in someone's house we own the house from top to bottom, soup to nuts.
  18. Wait, you're British?! Who was going to tell me?
  19. It's to be announced and dependent on when I have time to mess with all the new ranks and promotion settings. Right now, it's a low item on the fix list. It does need to be re-tooled but I'm still dealing with machine related stuff that takes priority. The pretty front end stuff is the window dressing, what's under the hood and getting that on strong footing is the foundation that builds everything else. If you want to help I'll gladly take your new badge ideas and images.
  20. There's genius in this statement. The great part is that it folds into what I was thinking. The only sticky part is how many accounts exist that would automatically defeat that rule do we have and how do you weed them out? We'd almost have to dump the entire user base which would destroy our content and dis-associate it. So, making everyone sign up again can't be the solution. However, if we used this in conjunction with some of the things I was thinking it could have the impact we need. I'm not going to get everyone that abuses the system but I gotta get the lion's share. There are good people that just want to download files, I get that and I understand. But there are others that are on a mission. It's the typical one kid in class ruins it for everyone else. We'll survive.
  21. Its not dead, it's a premature roll out that ended horribly. I'll retool and get something out. I've got too much to do at the moment to devote time there so it'll have to wait. Sad that I was too naive, won't happen again. I agree with giving to the community just not at the rate they want to take it.
  22. I implemented a free subscription plan for everyone to use but in a matter of two days it's already been abused. Giving the public a free file and they create multiple free accounts to get more free things. Program ended today, thanks for playing. I will create a better way to do this and until then the subscriptions are back to non-free only. Sorry about that, I really did have the best intentions, unfortunately some people think differently. ::deep sigh::
  23. You might have to clear your browser cache. I got it load and dropped a CA icon on my phone so using that loads the site without a browser, pretty neat. I'll play around with it more to see what's up, another thought is maybe there's an allow web app setting in browsers.
  24. Use the Samsung Browser to open the site, it takes a second or two to grab but it will ask you.
  25. On an Apple device open Safari and then open our site and it should ask you. On Android open Chrome and then open our site and it should ask you. If you're on Apple using Chrome that won't work or so the docs say. I loaded it using a Samsung phone and the Samsung Browser. The WebApp is for smaller devices so it won't work on laptops or desktops just phones and tablet devices. Good to know what works thought, so thanks.
