Well hopefully the Modders will one day have the time and energy to go back and add these features. Till then I will just make early and late models. Thanks for all your replys. I realised when I bought WOV2 that there would be a bit of fiddling around, am trying to work out as much as possible myself. I just hope my questions are not to stupid. Cheers Snapper 21

No don't think they are, didn't know they had to be part of the plane. Oh well plan B, create early and late versions of the Voodoo. Thanks for the reply Gr.Viper

Well I tried, but just can't get this to work, so if anybody does have colur matched Voodoo tanks could the post there data files. Cheers Snapper21

Okay I wanted to try and use the new feature where you put the tank skin in the aircraft skin folder, so you get the tank for the right skin. Am trying to do this on the brilliant RF-101C. Now the plane comes with three skins, and each drop tank has its own lod ie F101_450Tank_Green.LOD. metal and grey etc. So I created a generic tank called Tank450_F101. I know this works because the plane loads everytime with drop tanks. The thing I cant get it to do is look for the tank skin in the aircraft skin folder. The other thing I was going to do was, as the Green.Lod when I open it in notepad has the line F101_450Tank_Green.BMP at the bottom I was going to copy the metal and grey tank skins to there respective skin folders and rename them Green. Thinking that the Lod looks for that bmp name, is that right? Anyway have included the weapon data and aircraft data, if anybody can see where I am going wrong. Has anybody got a unmodified WOV2 install? If so in your *:\Documents and Settings\*****\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\Objects folder do you have a decals folder? Reason I ask, is that have been reading the readme with with the 509FIS skin for the F102 by 331KillerBee and it explains how decals work, I've been doing it wrong and need to start again. Thing is I can't remember if I copied that folder in there and can I delete the contents! Cheers Snapper 21

For the Mirage Factory A-7 C,D and E versions Extract the following files from WOV ObjectData.CAT and copy into the A-7 cockpit folder in WOV 2. F-4E_ATTITUDE2.BMP F-4E_GAU3.BMP F-4E_HUDGLASS.TGA F-4E_HUDREFLECTION.TGA F-4E_PANEL.BMP If people find this helpful I will continue to add to this post as I transfer planes over. Otherwise if the non modders like me have got the basic idea will let you all get on with it. Cheers Snapper21
-
Well I feel on a roll now So for the RF-101C you need to extract the following files from WOV ObjectData.CAT into the RF-101C cockpit folder in WOV 2. F-4E_GAU3.BMP A-4BGAU1.BMP A-4E_GAU5.BMP Cheers Snapper 21

Well, good grief I think I have fixed it, just shows you can teach and old dog new tricks . With bpao help, I found the missing image. I now get this. The images I extracted from WOV ObjectData.CAT into the RF-4C Cockpit folder in WOV 2 are F-4E_ATTITUDE2.BMP F-4E_ATTITUDE.BMP F-4E_COWL.BMP F-4E_GAU1.BMP F-4E_GAU2.BMP F-4E_GAU3.BMP F-4E_GAU4.BMP F-4E_GAU6.BMP F-4E_MIRROR.BMP F-4E_PANEL2.BMP F-4E_PIT1.BMP F-4E_radarPPI.bmp F-4E_REFLEC1.TGA F-4E_REFLEC2.TGA F-4E_RWR.BMP I think thats fixed it, off to check. Cheers Snapper 21

Well I had an idea, I copied the Cockpit.lod to my desktop, opened it in notepad. Most of it I couldn't read but if I scrolled down to the bottom I started to find image names. So copied these to the cockpit folder. Doing it this way meant I only copied 13 files across as against 39 when I created the picture in my first post. But getting the read outs for the true speed and fuel quantity etc seem to be beyond me at the moment. Cheers Snapper21

Hi guys and girls Am trying to get the Mirage Factory RF-4C into WOV2, am having a little problem with the cockpit. So my theory here is, that some items in the original WOV.cat are not in the new version, or not in the same place in WOV2. So started to extract files from original WOV and place them in the cockpit folder in WOV2. And this is what I have so far. So my questions are, has any one got the time to give me a list of images and files needed ? Or better still, could tell me what file calls for these images? I have looked in the cockpit.ini but can't find any link between the file and the images needed. Unless I am being blind Thanks for your help Snapper21

Thanks for the info allenjb42. I was reading about the Australian 77th fighter squadron in my World Air Forces book, apparently they specialise in close air support while 3rd squadrons main role is air defence. May have to include the 77th but using the 3rd skin. Cheers Snapper 21 -

A little update of the Allied air units that will be included. Am using Modern Korea from scrappers Push To Far at the moment. If a newer version of the Korean map comes out before I finish, I will use that map. Have tried to use units that there are skins for and that were not involved in Desert Storm. Cannot find any USMC units at the moment. Am open to ideas of what other nations that would send help to South Korea. So if you have any ideas please post away. I did consider some Tornado F-3s but think the RAF was a bit stretched with DS. Thanks for your reply Wrench, will not go down that route, will use another airfield. Cheers Snapper 21

In the targets.INI there is a line, NumSquadrons=3. Which I take as, in a campaign the maximun number of squadrons I can have flying from that airfield is 3. Is there any reason why I can't edit that line to 5? Or does it reference to another file and changing it will give me problems? Thanks for your help Snapper 21

So I have had an idea of adding pesky commie intruders into a campaign. Took Column5s An-2 Colt, made it NIGHT_ONLY and made strike,CAS and Armed recon its main missions. I also reduced its ceiling to 762 for low level. It uses a loadout of 4 FAB50s. I was going to use Paratroopers with an explosive value of a 500 pounder but could not get past the gigantic soldier. Have only tried this in single missions at the mo because I am still trying to put the campaign together. It looks quite good, but in strike missons you do get 12 planes flying in formation at low level, which does not look that realistic. The only way I can think to get round this is to limit the max aircraft in the campaign data to 4 or less and have multiple units. Anyway thought I would share the intruder idea, think it could be used in a European WW2 scenario etc. Cheers Snapper 21

A Last Desperate Act
snapper 21 replied to snapper 21's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Hi PACMAN Yes had thought about F-4EJ and F-15CJ, will have them doing CAP and Intercept missions from Japan. Don't think they would deploy to Korea or escort or strike missions. Cheers Snapper 21 -
I remember seeing a post somewhere about a problem with paratroopers from the weaponspack coming out gigantic. I have searched but can't find the fix, can anybody help? Cheers Snapper21 Reason for edit, You Can't add 1.3 tons of paratroopers to a AN-12 and expect it to fly right!!

A Last Desperate Act

Yeah I used to have Red Phoenix, wish I hadn't got rid of it. If I remember correctly F-16As against MiG23 and Russian MiG 29s -
This is going to be my first campaign, so I haven’t a clue when it will be ready. Also I don’t skin or model so I will only use what is out there. It will be for WOE. The Campaign will be called “A Last Desperate Act” The Timeline is this 2nd of August 1990 Iraq invades Kuwait 17th January 1991 after the world has watched in awe at the build up of the Coalition forces the air war begins. And now my campaign starts. Early morning 18th January 1991. In a last desperate act, while the eyes of the world are focused on the skies over the Persian Gulf, Kim II-sung unleashes the might of his North Korean armed forces in one last attempt to unify Korea. Unit List (So Far) ROKAF 102 TFS (F-5E) 103 TFS (F-5E) 111 TFS (F-5E) http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...oad&id=2874 131 TRS (RF-4C) 110 TFS (F-4D) 151 TFS (F-4D) 152 TFS (F-4E) 153 TFS (F-4E) http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...oad&id=7319 161 TFS (F-16C) 162 TFS (F-16C) http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...oad&id=4907 USAF 35 FS (F-16C) 86 FS (F-16C) 80 FS (F-16C) 12 FS (F-15C) 44 FS (F-15C) 67 FS (F-15C) 13 FS (F-16C) 14 FS (F-16C) RAAF 1 Squadron (F-111C) 3 Squadron (F/A-18A) As I said, I have only just started. So I am a long way from getting it finished. There will be no self installer; you may have to download the files needed yourself. But if you’re interested I will post the campaign files when I am eventually finished. Any thoughts or ideas, greatly appreciated. Cheers Snapper 21 (Cut N Shut Modder)
