Venting and Ranting
JonathanRL replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I seem to remember TK saying he would add one popular and one less popular aircraft from the vote per DLC If true, we will be getting Mirage and Ouragegon / Super Mystere -
Venting and Ranting

For me, this topic have two sides. The first is that it seems flight games in general are on the rise again, and SF and in most respects SF2 are products of a generation where Flight Games and Simulators was pretty much absent from the market, especially after Microsoft declared they would no longer work on Flight Simulator titles and shut down the studio. That does not mean TW will meet a demise soon, as I think the current model works out decent. I say decent, because he will probably have to open his arms more to the community, or make a drastic increase the value of the product (and with that probably also the price). If he indeed starts with tablet games and such, as he has hinted at, I doubt their income would go towards the SF series. The funny thing is, I cannot make up my mind if a publisher would be good or bad for TK. He obviously needs a little push off his cushion and get back into the running. I doubt DCS and Jet Thunder will wake him up enough for this. This all said, I doubt we will ever see a SF3. -
I both agree and do not agree with Stary here. Some DLC I like, some I find not worth the time. The Mirage IIIC DLC for example is a good idea about a well done DLC. It fits, its flyable in Campaigns, reasonably priced and a thing that was lacking, but easily fixed. By contrast, I find most of the Hunters (The Sultan of Omar AF excluded) to be what Stary describes above. The fact that Paulopanz J 34 Hunter is better then the DLC one is actually a bit worthy of cringe.

I can recommend the "Bloody Foreigners" Series as well; esp the one about the Polish pilots. -

PT BOATS: Knights of the sea
JonathanRL replied to FalconC45's topic in Naval Combat Information Center
WBS: Try Naval Warfare Arctic Circle. Little more Simple then Fleet Command, but pretty much the same thing. I do not know about modding for the game, but you can be a gunner while AI Does the rest on your ship as long as you have ordered the driver to put a course. I prefer manual driving and the AI to use the guns. When I say "Strike Fighters"; I mean its goes in depth without being inaccessible. :) -

I find it enjoyable. Its pretty niched, but it is a Strike Figthers for Naval Sims; more or less. if you liked Battlestations game, you will prob like this, but is a little more advanced. -

Just fair warning. This does at times turn into a point and click adventure game. I had really fun the five minutes I tried to arm the Guns. I should just be happy nobody was actually depending on me shooting something during that time. -
