Swedish Campaign (The Scandinavian Front)

So you wanted to attack an harbour ? Defences are laid out in three layers. This applies to the navy. 1: Berkut Battery (if avalible. I think there is just six of them on the entire map !) 2: Flack Batteries. 3: AAA Fire. And you got bombs and rockets. And maybe even Fighters. Ouch. -
After serious consideration, heavy mathematics and alot other calculations, I have but one answer! In short: The Euro will be getting cheaper.

*sighs* When I say "Done", I never seem to mean it. I am by no means a perfectionist - quite the opposite considering some of the shortcuts I have taken but... Having dug myself into Swedish military tactics of the era, I found out that the role of the Strike Aircrafts was to target soviet navy assets. This was due to the simple fact that if there was nothing to escort the convoy ships, the navy could easily finish off any task forces. As such, I have made some changes in the latest build. Most of the stationary, inactive destroyers have been turned into active, point defence patrol boats. They defend Riga Class Frigates and Cargo Ships. And that is the primary target of the Strike Packages. Conventional Anti-Ship missions have - however - been scrapped alltogether. I always tough deep strikes into the soviet union was not really something the Swedish Air Force should do - nor have capacity to do even based out of Finland. The finer points can be debated, but the Navy is the primary target. This also means that when you destroyed a Soviet Naval Asset, its gone for good (if I understood the lines in the target types correctly). It means that the campaign will be more challenging for strike missions at first, and easier as you blow yourself trough the Soviet Navy. I have also taken myself some liberties. There will be SAMs (Berkuts), but theese will be carried by a surfaced Whiskey Class Submarine. While not the best decision avalible, I felt it was a mix of James Bond and the kind of Jury Rig solutions a war sometimes creates. I would like your opinion on this matter. -
Could it be a hardpoint glitch? Ground Object sometimes have "misfires", making their weapons backfire on them. Its a glitch casued when the missile hits the object its launched from.

*teases* A 21R is the A-Team model, so if you have that one, you can fly with it. It is however - sadly - not included in the package. J 28 Vampire requires Expansion Pack 1 for SF1 as you know. But that is the final airplane list if you have everything. -

I hope its more like Raven Shield and less like Vegas. However, judging from the trailer, id say its a new GRAW. And that might not be all bad... -

...and after half a night of trying-to-sleep, I have finished the latest batches of adjustments for Isbjörn, calling it "done" once again. Last time I called it done to await the Riga, I did however seem to leave a few number of Bugs. At any rate, a few of the things I made: Seperated F 17 Kallinge into two detachments, one of them a Lansen wing, the second a A-29B / Pauls Suprise squadron. Made sure every damn city did not have a missile battery attached. They are rare, and very, very scary without proper countermeasures. Finally fixed the bloody rockets bug on the Lansen. -

Hmm. About a 48 campaign, do we have enought enemy aircraft? Or is it just MiG-9, Yak-23, Yak 9 Tu-4? Oh well. A later question. Without a public 21, I admit I feel the campaign would feel kinda hollow. We shall see about a 48 campaign after the 60:ies one - whenever I get to work on that one. It should not take that long tough. Most of the pieces are already set. I just need to place them on a map, and adjust the ground war. -
Terrific work as always! :)

I will endeavour to include the MiG-21 for the Finns, but no, no Soviet Side from my part. This is in part in keeping with the Thirdwire tradition of Blue Side only, but also because a Campaign for Soviet would have to be adjusted to be fun. As it is right now, the Soviets with the players help would win rather quickly, and balancing it all would ruin the realisim of the Soviet Advance. -
I must admit that my flight jockey genes are still with me in Battlefield 3. There are few things as fun as to take a jet up and show a keyboard turning pilot the moves of a proper Joystick :) Esp as people tend to overuse the Missiles. Never understood why, the guns are far more effective, and they allow you to carry AG Ordinance. Its a arcade style flight mode ofc, but since everybody and their mothers got Stingers and Iglas... Best moment yet? When I was accused of cheating because I flew so well, and my keyboardbound opponent was unable to keep up with the manouvers.

@Viggen: Long answer: I have been tweaking that one. Friendly AA is more active now, but enemy AA is a trifle unsteady. When you are engaging the ships, you will encounter a barrage of it, but for the land based targets, most are defended by one or two guns (And SEAD is very much active...). I would expect the Soviets not to think their foes would strike so much as you get to do onto their soil, and just attribute it to lazyness and wishful thinking on the Soviets part ;-) Short answer: I am doing my best. I will hope I have done better :D Oh, and if anybody else then paul wishes to Beta test the thing, feel free to drop me a line. However - I do expect you to come up with a list of things you think I have done right, wrong or other notes. Beta testing is not "Demo" for me, its what it says :) -

Flying for the VVS would hardly be fun - seeing how you actually have an advantage, but go right ahead. Drop a PM if you want the latest files. Everythings done, save for the Riga. -
Looking awesome. Almost makes me want to add a RN Carrier group into the Baltic :D

I am a old BF Veteran and here are the major changes: - Commander position is removed, and the order system mostly scrapped. The latter is my least favorite change. I dont care if nobody used it properly, I did and I liked it. - Jets have been nerfed. All abilities for vehicles have to be unlocked. This is far less painful then the unlocks for the infantry classes. Jets in particular suffer until players have reached 400 points (about 2 enemy aircrafts shot down) and they can unlock flares. Also, Engineers can choose to carry Stinger / Igla missiles, even futher making the air a unhealthy place to be unless you know what you are doing. - The artillery system is no longer bound to automatic drop upon choice of location. Instead, the support class can unlock a mortar, that is placed down and have limited range whereupon he chooses on the minimap where the round will hit. During this time, the shooter is vulnerable and the mortar have limited range. Futhermore, without spotting, the mortarman does not know where to drop the rounds. - All weapons suffer from bullet drop. - All players can supress and be supressed. Points are awarded for this. - The housing, terrain and more are fully destructable (even more so then Bad Company 2). Sniper hiding in a house? Pick up the grenade launcher and blow the entire section of the house to smithereens. - Weapons have unlockable features and can be customized at will. - Classes have more variation. Just the support class fills the role of Machinegunner, Mortarman and Heavy Spec Ops for me - all with designated loadouts. Too bad the loadouts cannot be saved... This is what I can think of on the top of my head.

EA is not a developer. They are a publisher. Please know the difference. And are you sure you do not confuse them with Activision? After all, they release the Call of Duty franchise, who for the past four games have been pretty much the same thing. The developer behind Battlefield is Swedish "DICE". I also do not see how people can claim its the same stuff every time nor that it is just a pretty package. Battlefield 3 is a very solid game. Yes, the Single Player is mostly looks and a run of the mill story, but the multiplayer - and that is what I bought it for - is awesome with tactics implemented, calling for mortar and air strikes where the assets are controlled by other players, firing a few semi auto rounds to supress the enemy...
-
Tbf, you dont buy Battlefield 3 for the SP. You get it for the awesome MP :)

Dont worry. Due to reasons of Battlefield 3, I got all the waiting time I can endure ;-) And yes, its looks terrific! -
Loving it, but stuck to the Multiplayer. The Mortar is amazingly alot of fun. You have to be a crack shot with it, and lucky too :P
