Damn, how I miss working on the Phantom! It was never boring watching them fly the break to landing! When they lined up on the runway, you could always feel the power through the air when the afterburners kicked in. I even heated a few MREs using the exhaust during the pre taxi checks when we deployed for Coronet Oak. Ahh the memories!

I would be very cautious and consious of installing this into WOE. I suggest you know exactly what is being changed in the 'flight' and 'menu' folders before attempting to install this, and make sure you back up any folders affected by this mod before attempting to install it. Personally, I was unaware of this mod and have been wanting to make Soviet and Chineese awards for a couple of campaigns I've been working on so this will save much time and research. Thanks for the link Shaolin!! -

VICTORY IS AT HAND!! This is a reworked VFA-103 Jolly Rogers skin set. This skin is a merging enhancement, and expansion of the VFA-103 skin using SidDoggs cleaner skins combined with the original Super Hornet release skin (some decals retained) and with new decals by me. I'd like to thank the following -TK and Third Wire for creating a wonderfully open sim. -The CombatAce Staff for being the anchor for this community -InSky for their F/A-18F model, skins and decals -Siddogg for letting me use his 'cleaner' skins as a basis for my work * VFA-103 The Jolly Rogers: Into the future with Super Bugs In December 2004 Carrier Air Wing 17 finished it's deployment with USS John F Kennedy and the F-14B Tomcats of VF-103 were sent to the bone yard at Davis Monthon AFB. This was a sad time for anyone who has a heart for the Tomcat. However, as has happened many times before in Naval Aviation history, including Jolly Roger history (F4U Corsair, F6F Hellcat, F-9F Panther, F-8 Crusader, and F-4 Phantom to name a few) reality weighs anchor and moves on. VF-103 was redesignated VFA-103 and began training for and recieving the F/A-18F Super Hornet. In 2005 VFA-103 left Carrier Air Wing 17 (AA) and joined VFA-143 (Pukin) Dogs F/A-18E AG 1xx, VFA-83 Rampagers F/A-18C AG 3xx, and VFA-131 Wildcats F/A-18C AG 4xx in Carrier Air Wing 7. VFA-103 took on the AG code and returned to the 2xx modex numbers. In October 2005 CVW-7 began workups for deployment, and in October 2006 headed for the CENTCOM AOR aboard USS Dwight D Eisenhower. for an 8 month deployment. Looks really good Ed. Ed's correct, you usually don't hear thunder from the airplane. However when you do get hit by lightning it sounds and looks like one of the old Polaroid camera flashbulbs going off. -
Adding a Tailhook?

The game only needs to have the entries in the data.ini to have a functioning tailhool. As JA 37 Viggen said, there needs to be some kind of lod to have a visable tailhook. If the tailhook is not built into the aircraft's 3D model and animated there however the visual part will not move, but is still functional through the data.ini entry. So basically if the game text is saying it is lowered, it will work. -

Check the dates, AttachmentType, pylon limitations, nation (of the weapon -v- aircraft), export availability (I've had situations where I couldn't get, for example, Phoenix on USN Tomcats in Germany until I changed the export value to or above rare) and model names. -
300 miles, That's one leg for me at work. It's just over an hour, and we're plenty busy most of the way. As for the game I prefer to fly it all the way. I despise air-starts and skipping /compressing. Wether or not I take on the long flight depends on what kind of time I have available. Sometimes I go, sometimes I don't. I do get sick of the repeating nearby (within 30 miles) CAS missions in a recent campaign though. I've actually started avoiding them to an extent.

* First I'd like to thank the following -TK and Third Wire for creating a wonderfully open sim. -InSky for their F/A-18F model -Siddogg for letting me use his 'cleaner' skins as a basis for my work VFA-107 Sea Dragons was a Janes FA-18 online squadron. We flew together weekly from the release of Janes FA-18 in 1999 until 2003. I had a lot of fun online with VFA-107. I had painted a squadron skin for the Janes model (an FA-18E) but I was never happy with it. Now, with a game of more open design, and better models and processing power I'm able to rework my original squadron colors into a more realistic and satisfying rendition. I see dragons,.....SEA DRAGONS. 'First in, Last out' VFA-107 I did the skin work for my Janes F/A-18 squadron back around 2000. They were ok, but with the limitations of the game's modding ability, and limited detail on the models I was never totally happy with the final product. Third wire, InSky, and Siddogg have allowed for a much better rendition of that work. When the first pics of the Super Hornet model were displayed I started working on a remake of that skin from Janes. This is it. The low-viz The boss And the CAG I should have these up soon

Does this mean I don't have a chance of getting Daves permission to include his SU-17 model in an upload for a 'what if' attack jet I've been working on for months? Basically, I modified the SU-17 into a carrier based attack jet for the Soviet Navy. I gave it increased lift qualities just like they did for the Flanker and MiG-29K, modernized the loadouts and targeting capabilities, and added a more effecient engine and more economical fuel burn, and tailhook functionality. I also made new skins from scratch. I'm going to need ArmourDave's permissions though, as well as Gepard's (I started with many of his inis from the SU-22M4), and paladrian (I modified his cockpit)

Super Hornet G Limit question

When I was with the Indiana Air Guard and during our first ORI (Operational Readiness Inspection) in the F-16C we had a pilot over G his aircraft. The F-16 was over limit for it's loadout by 1 G. We spent the next 2 days replacing stripped nutplates and sheared rivets on the bottom of the wings in the stress areas. Aircraft can be pushed beyond their loading limits and still come home, but it doesn't mean by any length that there was no damage done. -

Damn man, do you sleep? Hey Siddog, do you mind if I upload a couple of skins based on your paint work? I reworked the VFA-103 skin onto your less dirty work, and did a low-viz version too plus a couple from my Janes FA-18 days from my online squadron. -
