  1. What immediately came to my mind, was that typically games follow history, which is already a script of sorts. Let's take WoV/SF2V for instance. It had much of the real-world operators, but the player could change the outcome slightly. Not hitting the target affects his career, but at the end of the campaign, as long as you didnt dork too much up, you "won" (?) But it followed history. -S
  2. Maybe so. Tired of all the promises and let downs at our expense. I'll let someone else do the funding for a while.
  3. Without a solid foundation for a what era/theater this sim should model, DCS is "EDGING" closer to my recycle bin. Just my $.02
  4. In agreement with JM here. During the few times I jump into DCS, I will fly the A-10A. I dont have time to learn the ins-outs of the newer C-model with all of its new avionics. Plus not having a Warthog stick to program it all properly adds to the curve. The simple bomb dropper, with an occasional AGM-65 is good enough and isnt overwhelming. What I'd really like is a better plane-set for the era that could compliment each other properly. Stop jumping around with a WWII aircraft here, then a modern jet there. Either work fully toward one era and complete it properly (environment and all!) or drop it. I appreciate the free TF-51, but all of these Beta releases/test beds just cloud up the works and show a lack of focus for the future sim for the gamer. If the intent is the commercial market, then stop having the gamer pay for it with incomplete and sparadic DLCs that dont fit into the current era. Combined Arms was a great idea but lacked instruction and proper training, IMO. So its sits without much use. In the current instance, an A-10 will not survive in a high-threat theater without proper SEAD/DEAD and CAP, and would not be tasked as such. The sim needs a player flyable aircraft to complete the package and fill that void. -S
  5. Amazing flying and cinematography. I see it's DCS (or BMS?). -S

    Jug to the bench

My thoughts exactly. Enjoy "working" for yourself now. -Jeff
  7. Isnt the whole idea that it's not a pure US Spec Ops team? And using foreign weapons would mask that it is an American team. Pitty they never got the Without Remorse story into film. That would have been epic! That clip was a great way to spend 20 minutes. -Jeff

    My New Lithograph

That is gorgeous Dave. The nose profile and font really compliments each other well. Putting it over the bed? ;)
  9. How do you feel about the current state of the Air Force and it's massive reduction in aircraft?

    Welcome Home Viggen

    Welcome home!
  11. Hmm, when you and I first met online, I was still in Germany (2003 ish). In 2005, I hung out at your house for the weekend, prior to reporting Altus for boom school. Your twins were just babies, IIRC. Now, I'm about to hang it up after 23 years, and you already have. Yep, time has flown...
  12. They are missing the crap load of photographers sitting on the side of the road, waiting for the jets to launch/recover near "Flex-Turn" corner. I was part of that mob back in Feb. for RF 14-01 JM, My gut still hurts from the "DCS: Goat Sim" comment over at SHq.
  13. Not what you want to here, but it does appear that IRIS is reworking many of their aircraft to be TacPack compatable. Maybe with the integration issues that have delayed the Razbam products, have also hampered IRIS' efforts. -Jeff
  14. But it's got some things TK's doesn't. Multiplayer, and a decent looking/completed terrain. Still not bad for it's age.

    IL2 Vietnam

Same here. A LOT of time went into that. Very nice to see it still around and evolving. Having that multiplayer is the key.
  16. A talented man. RIP

    Shooting Skeet

I also use my Rem 70 12 Gauge for shooting clays. I will use 8 shot and save my good 2-3 shot for the actual birds. Have fun! .410s in the US have become very difficult to find ammo for and if you do, you'll pay for it handsomely. A 410 was my first shotgun years ago. I'd like to buy a 20 gauge for my daughter to learn on.
  18. Gotta love the 80's. Ditto on what DA said. The plane that should have been. -S
  19. TK is to blame for that. He always kept up with the "I dont care about mod/3rd party" attitude, so it drove off any potential interest. Even here at CA, he never acknowledged the work the group here put in to add life into the series and kept it going. And continues to do so. Beach, another great AAR. Love reading/viewing them. If M/P ever found it's way into SF2, I'd buy back into the series. -S
  20. A lot of work going into an AI model for that Su-24. It's beautiful!
  21. To sum it up, "keep waiting..." Funny they don't even mention the T-2 Buckeye or Mirage 2000C for 2014.
  22. I'm sorry for your family's loss, Dave. Comfort Sheila and both of you know that he's no longer suffering and can be in peace. Best wishes my friend! -Jeff
  23. Comes down to training as an overall force. During the 80's the Soviet AF was getting maybe 1/4 of the hours that the USAF were flying. Sure you'd have your individual pilots that were very skilled, but I don't think the numbers would be in the Red AF's favor. The IRIAF use the Tomcat as an extension of their AEW&C with the AWG-9. If it's working. While I'm sure they'd love to have a new fleet of jets, they are making due with what they've got on hand. Hence all of the upgrades from in-house.
  24. Happy Birthday sucka!! Cheers! Jeff
  25. If you saw the most current force restructure model for the USAF, many of the A-10 units will transition to the F-16 from Hill. Hill has Block 40 jets and since they just received the CCIP updates, I doubt they'll become QFs. AMARG is full of older Block aircraft that have already been identified for the drone conversion.
