Been flying in RB3D with ReLoad for a while on rotary E.III according to the table with "type3" engine: blip, separate fuel and air intake controls. So it has some sort of throttle, but that is definitely NOT the thing you'll want to even touch in combat. If you move joystick throttle, you have to readjust fuel mixture with +/- otherwise drop in torque might be much more than needed. And altitude changes also require some tweaking. That means that in combat you have to watch the tachometer taming the needle, while keeping in mind altitude changes and the thing you just did to throttle. And there are bad guys about. And earth is getting closer with every turn. Blip seems like a perfect solution when you don't want to worry at least about the engine (set up max power before entering dogfight) and try to avoid overtaking some nasty bomber.

Bullet hit sounds & wounded sounds
Gr.Viper replied to planecrazydale's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
If you are shot directly you'll see the plane flying without you. But. There's another way to be considered killed without getting shot in the head or crashing. This thing http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4851 Don't know about sound... maybe the one from RB2 may be ripped. It was quite loud. -
My X-52 Pro trigger button is not recognised by RB3D 'cause I'm not using PPJoy yet. At first it was irritating (I had to plug in simpler joystick to play) but later I actually realised that this bug can be turned into a feature. :umnik2: There were no trigger buttons on flight stick at those times - you can't control throttle, filght and fire at the same time because one free hand is needed to pull the trigger (see "Blue Max"). So now I'm shooting using spacebar only. That really adds immersion and difficulty to 255% AI, engine faiure, fuel mixture control etc Maybe later I'll bind trigger to one of thick switches on X52 base.

I'm gonna go through those after a while http://swwisa.net/munro/ Eastern Front, Russian civil war, Middle East, Italy... Yummy!

Ok... I've overcome my fears and tried it with WFP2 and Campaign Manager and MissionGen. Requires constant tweaking but... Awesome. Fighting Parasol on E.III in 1915 is a completely different experience.

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti. ..err.. well, you know that..

Yup. That's right. Sierra made German vesion of Red Baron 2 avaliable for download free of charge. A little while ago but I learned it just now. http://ftp.sierra.com/sierra/redbaron3d/ Grab the big juicy archive in the /other/ subfolder and then rb3d_spr in /updates/ Then follow installation instructions found here(they also provide links to a couple of other fixes for multiplayer and XP) http://www.fallbabies.com/virtualaces/redbaron/ Then to contunue the stream of freeware goodness I'd suggest installing Hell's Angels superpatch http://www.hellsangels.firstflare.com/main.htm Have no idea what other free stuff goes well with it. Suggestions? P.S. BTW, first Red Baron (EGA version in 16-color palette) is also free. http://files.filefront.com/redbrnexe/;946481;/fileinfo.html Needs DOSBox for real fun though.

Simple. Revised engine modeling - fuel supply cut at negative g, that can stop engine without me shutting it off or enemy shooting it. Revised damage - I'd rather see parts getting shredded and almost unusable, than fly off at the first hit. And no turbulence sound at low speed that I hear while rolling on the ground, please And an FM-calculator for folks here to play with

Is it just me or someone else can't see a thing from this birds pit? Not that it prevents me from doing baaad things to enemies or dodging bridges jumping at me from nowhere... Nice job! A bit difficult to take off - had to use all control surfaces to keep it from flipping
-
Yup, all you need is 3dMax (free one month trial avaliable at their website... at least it was a while ago) and ThirdWire model exporter at can be found at TW site. Instructions on some special modeling reqirements are listed in readme of one of exporters.

LOL I just dug up my own DVD with backup of OFF P2 with most updates... and guess what. Second map set from OFF website is there

Read the readable part of my nickname. Come in variety of shapes and colours, live anywhere from Sahara to Greenland, fangs fold back, perfect infrared sight on some species, inject weak poison which yet causes decay of living tissues.

I wonder if Santa gets medals for flight hours and accurate payload delivery...

Etrich A.II (Fd) Taube AC3D Files at hand...
Gr.Viper replied to lambda*sqrt(u*x)'s topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
We have Eindeckers and Bullet for FE but their wing warp is not animated. Actually you can download 3dsmax plug-in from Thirdwire website - it has a readme file which mentions restrictions on animations. -

I wish there were a way to do wing warp in FE like in FSWW1. The bird is doomed to look petrified. :cray: -
Hmmm this one? http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=2966 Looks like good training for DOSBox joystick support And if you follow links to similar games you might also strike something gold-ish.

What do I need after the expansion pack
Gr.Viper replied to jack72's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Well, the stock expansion AI will rip you in half (except green pilots - they run away), airfields now have generated static aircraft, flight model seems closer to actual flight (and is different, so pre-EP1 planes won't work well), Camel and Dr.1 engines use blip switch, you can fly under bridges and meet enemy aces in campaign (if you survive somehow - Albatros can now lose wings if you pull too fast)... it IS worth getting And you can always make a second install of FE to install EP there, keeping your old modded original. jack72, expansion AI is doing very well without additional tweaks One moment you fly gun-blazing into the dogfight, the next moment you have three angry Fokkers on your tail. And you suddenly find yourself flying a monoplane with dead engine. -
I hope everyone noticed that EP1 bridges are real, i.e. you can fly under them and they have good collision boxes. So that's after my first run on a prefectly good D.VIIF... Kinda lame, but actually I expected either to fly through, like you do with buildings, or to crash completely. P.S. And after losing a wing I tried another run. Crashed into support.

Cute! Wheel texture seems a bit blurry

Perhaps TK hasn't found the proper balance with archie yet. Remember what it was like in pre-patch FE? 10 seconds of straight level flight and you're history. Now we see what it's like the other way round. BTW, just got my first archie hit in OFF Looked like my D.II got her whole engine ripped out and flames were everywhere.

1. Yeah, a whole Jasta going in waves is weird. At least they fight well now. I wonder if one can tweak inis to increase formation size and position boxes at to least double size. 3. Maybe axis are mapped wrong? I remember having great "fun" when got my throttle mapped to stick twist in RB3D.

IMHO, campaign in OFF Phase 2 is pretty close. Unconfirmed kills, lethal AAMG, long patrols with enemy sometimes flying too fast or too high to intercept, lively front line... I like it there. Flying slow E.III through campaign is pretty awesome too but your arms might hurt afterwards.

Doesn't look good.
