Easy there I'm just getting into jet combat. After 500 MG rounds common for WWI birds your tiny cannon ammo box is just too little for me. But yeah... Eagle vs. Migs is unfair  One pull of the stick and you get almost sattelite view on them.
-
Damn... I'd better get a stopwatch somewhere. Mirages burn up their fuel awfully fast. Tried intercept on F-15. Got confused with radar modes. Wasted all Sparrows, sent all Sidewinders at one Mig who evaded them easliy. Managed to work out how air-combat radar mode works and nearly got first gun kill. Unknowingly evaded a load of missiles launched from 6 o'clock. Off to read the manual, I guess...

There is! 16 Vikhr missiles on Su-25T. Even if you fire them in salvos of two (maximum that guidance system can handle at a time) you stlill have to make 8 (4 if you got quick fingers) perfectly straight runs at the target aiming the bleeding visual tracker and keeping straight flight after launch so that the almighty beam-riding missile didn't get lost. And the guys below will be waiting for you on the second run already. The system is good for attack choppers (still, it's no Hellfire) but high-precision ground attack is pretty much hit and run for a plane.

Ok... Despite being a WWI fan I took WOI for a test drive. Strike Mission - Skyhawk - Hard everything and, I think, Unlimited detail (whooping 16 fps!). When not in WWI I always choose ground attack. You don't think this payload is a bit of overkill? After figuring out how the heck the thingamamobs that stick out of wings are controlled and enjoying the rear view through mirrors (hey, some had them in WWI too!) I took off dragging my tail as if it were loaded with a ton of bricks. Got to target area on manual control, ordered wingmen to wreak havoc on the ground, missed with all my clusters, heard wingman receive a greeting salute from SAM. While they were busy I somehow managed to make another run dropping all GBUs on heads of Arabs tickling me with machineguns. Followed this by a napalm goodbye which naturally didn't hit ***t. Lost another wingman to SAM. Strangely enough we weren't attacked by enemy aircraft - some of them ignored us as they had no radar and were way too high. The others probably were just too amused buy our pefrormance. So me and the other guy got out of target area at which point I noticed that flying on 100% throttle the whole time actually left me with 1/3 of fuel. But I had no chance to learn what happens when fuel gauge hits zero, because enjoying scenery and low-level flight at the same time leads to what? Right, you understand. But I'll be back... for more. So... Noob question one. Why's Skyhawk so [censored] responsive to roll input? NQ2: Isn't that simple gunsight supposed to be projected only on the sight prism? With 6DOF TrackIR it kinda wanders off-limits easily.

No credit/debet card either? A friend with one maybe? TW shop works without PP account - I know it does 'cause my bank never worked properly with paypal, yet I could buy FE expansion. And without starforce... the main reason I gave up on lockon, despite I like low-level ground attacks a whole lot. Probably will get WOE for A10 later, if it's worth it and gets updated.

So, I guess these birds can be made flyable? Will the older pits in download section work?

This is what TK calls sim-lite??? Wow! *one more day... one more day before I get it..*
-
It was upped just now Somebody was going to make Nieuports when this comes out
-
I'm not, 'cause I started with FE :) There the AI really came alive as some of less experienced and scared pilots would turn around and run home, instead of engaging... I'll definitely get WOI now  Maybe earlier games too, if they get patched.
-
TK was in such hurry..
-
Uh... the USSR had a similar purpose/size fighter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_Tu-28
-
With NUKES?
-
Maybe somebody could draw a recognition manual?
-
42... from the Man himself.
-
So... after reading all the latest posts... I understand that AI got really angry and after bashing on the head in First Eagles now knows how to use guns, right? Never played any of the Wings over "insert name" but might give this one a try then...

GT are going through some reorg and will be a different company. They say that in a while gennadich.com will redirect people here http://www.neoqb.com/ where there'll be news, updates all all sorts of info. In the meantime there's only Fokker Dr.1 for MSFSX.
-
That's like at least third fan-made PC version of Space Hulk... Best visual quality of them all though.
-
Starting with First Eagles EP1 weapon data has been redone in some way - you'll have to wait for new wepn editor to put your favourite toys in there.
-
Hmmm... WOI is out. That means that new weapon editor and a possible patch for FE:EP are getting closer. Hope, TK will fix damage.

What's this RC made of? Titanium?

Since the thread was mercilessly beaten into offtopic already... Does anyone else can't help reading the title with "airscrew" instead? Or I play Red Baron too much?
-
Do they still publish stuff? Last issue of OtF is from Spring 2007... Although the four sample articles out there are sure interesting narrative. P.S. Idflieg is back online. Phew...

I do have it (even had to write a review). Once pirated an early beta, then pre-ordered and got acces to all further beta versions and in the end received a full game (Stardock download is 866Mb). It's not Empire at War... It may look like one but it's not. It's a twisted hybrid of Haegemonia and Master of Orion. I mean, you have real-time, you bomb planets, you see fancy 3D effects.. But. The tech tree is wide and forces one to choose instead of upgrading all you can. The game is of a grand scale (maximum map size - 6 star systems with 60+ planets) and is slow paced - 7-planet system can be conquered in an hour if you're in a big hurry, but at normal pace it would take 5 hours. Pity there's no ship designer but capital ships can be customised a bit as you select their new abilities at level-ups. Then there are severe restrictions on the number of units you can build and they don't increase as your conquest progresses (you increase cap via research). So you have to balance your fleet - various types of units have their own pros and cons. You'd be surprised how quckly a few squadrons of bombers can destroy a capital ship if you don't protect it with flak frigates. BTW thanks to the fact that tactical and strategic levels are not separated (you just zoom in or out as you please), reinforcemens coming in the middle of a fight are quite common. The three races start games almost identical but with tech development they get their own features. TEC are traders and get tons of money, Vasari scavenge and loot all raw materials they find, Advent are a sect of religious zealots who really can affect mind of others (you can make enemy's colonies revolt by spreading your cultural influence). The game's fun, but requires a lot of free time. Hard to stop playing - it's always "one more planet", "one more battle" "one more tech to test"... Oh... One thing really spoils the fun though. Huge random map - 5 star systems with over 100 planets. 10 players four of which including me are in one team. The bloody randomiser stuffed all of us in only two star systems (leaving 3 empty!) and I got in different system from all my allies with 4 hostile neighbours right at my door. At least I got to test TEC superrocket that wipes entire planet surface with one blast.
