On July 15, the Navy Command will launch "Navy Training Exercise: Strike And Retrieve" as a free Internet download. The single-player game was developed by the Navy Recruiting Command and its advertising agency "to help build interest and awareness of Navy high-tech jobs." Players will need to locate top-secret documents from within a downed reconnaissance plane while battling challenging underwater terrain, deep sea creatures and an opposing force. To secure special codes to help them through the game, players will be directed to the Navy's Web site at http://www.navy.com.

Suggestion for the file section
Fates replied to FalconC45's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
I thought about doing that, but what about aircraft like the P-51 that was used in WW2 and Korea? Or the B-52? There are many ways that yopu could sort and subsort. I think it may be better to work on the present file system and maybe include a Category like: Korea, ww2, ww1, Lockheed, fairchild, ge, fokker, etc....where it would allow the user to simply use the search more effectivley to find what they are looking for. then we would just need those submitting the files to more accurately categorize them before they are uploaded. I think this would be a better tool...what do you think? Fates -
The game is not yet complete. This entire forum is dedicated to the development of Jet Thunder and allows our patrons direct access to ask them any questions they like. The developers have created a pseudo DEV DIARY in this forum. The game is not yet released, but still in the early-middle development process. Cheers~ Fates

We are looking for a logo design to brand the website. A complete header image is fine, but the judging will be on the logo design. This is a little vague becuase there may be other atributes that effect judgement. For instance, how well will the LOGO work on a t-shirt? mousepad? header background? monthly image calendars? Does it have the flexibility to be used in many places. How inner-changeable is it when used with different headers? Can we change up the theme on the header image from flightsims to tacsims and still incorporate the core logo design into it? I thought about posting some of what we've done as staff, but I don't want to influence anyone in their creativity....becuase it may influence it in a direction that we don't want.... This is why we are bringing this contest to you. Hope that answers a few things. Fates

We at CombatAce.com are looking for a logo design to brand the website. The logo must be flexible enough to be made into CombatACE or CombatACE.com. Size and Color are up to the designer. Any background used in the logo should be interchangable to a different theme, ie. Naval Sims, Flight Sims, Tactical Sims, etc... We are simply looking to see what you can imagine as our minds have emptied all their imaginative juices at the moment. You may submit as many entries as you wish. The contest will run thru July 15, 2005 GMT. Prize? Well we thought that someone might enjoy a new Saitek Gamers Keyboard for their effort. The logo may be used in part or in whole. We are merely looking for ideas, and what better group of people to ask then those that come here all the time. The image(s) should be uploaded directly to this forums and should be no larger then 800x600. This does not mean that the actual logo could not be bigger, just that it helps in the ease of viewing all the logo designs. I know that there are some talented graphics people out there, but there are also many out there that may have an idea of what they would like, but struggle putting it into a paint program.. Don't be afraid. It's the idea that we seek. So, even though you may not be a graphical guru, simply cut and past a few things together and let us see what your idea is. We will judge the image based on your concept of what you would like to see, and not for it's technical correctness. One more thing.....no more than a six pack can be consumed during design without the presence of the CombatACE staff..... j/k. Good Luck Everyone! Cheers - Fates

Been playing it...and honestly not that impressed. It's like a DC mod for BF1942 with a few more features...better graphics...and that's about it. Just first opinions though. It did run very smooth on my system so far so that was a nice point seeings how BFV was junk. Will be reporting more. <C> Fates

Greg 'geg' Thomas, November 2003. etendard@gmail.com UPDATE MARCH 11 2004. Updated the skin to use Decals by Klatuu and added "Armed Forces" around the insignia on the nose. Klatuu's version (of the same plane) is also excellent! :) Cheers. -

Yeah...from what I understand the X2 is mostly for the hardcore multitasker. When it comes to performance and running a single app like game.... no benifit at alll... this chip is for the servers and cinema and many other avenues...not gamers. Fates

nope...waiting for Dual-Core release to drop pricing on FX series...lol To sit back and watch a CPU go from $800 bucks to $300 in 3 months is ludicris. the performance gains simply are not there to warrant me having the BEST DAMN THING RELEASED. Lets just wait a few weeks and save $500 over 1/2% of performance gain....LOL

Thing is ...that when we get the site tweaked back to showing "Latest Threads" on the main page...many forums will become more active. This is currently on the "To Do list.

Another Member in TeamODB just went with the A8V-E and AMD 64 4000 with XP-120 HSF. It does fit well on the CPU and in the case. There is a 4" gap between it and the 92mm exhaust port on the side of the case and a simple duct solves that problem.....makes it VERY efficient. I'll have to look into the Nvidia chipsets as well. I know the MSI boards are Awesome but I've been an ASUS fan for some time...well see where that goes. As for the Xp2 CPU's....well...I'm guessing that they will be around a $1000 when they are on the market. Can't afford that...and I'm not gonna think about a $180 MObo revolving around it. I'll stick with the AMD 64 4000 or FX53(5) or something that the mobo can handle for now. I read that the FX vs 4000 chips are very close to performance. Thanks Fates

I have been there....done that. Growing up in SW Michigan, the Museum of Science and Industry was only a stones throw away. I've been inside this sub many times, and it's always an adventure each time. I'm glad that they've finally put a building over it....it was very much needed. <C> Fates

After readin gwhat's been goin on with the "Flight of the Old Dog" Thread....decided to post my new wish list. I already have a few components on the way...and will wait on a few more till after the DUAL-CORE AMDs'are releasd... Antec TX1088AMG Computer case is a SOHO ATX Mid-Tower Case. With Front IEEE 1394, USB2.0, Audio in/out, & AnNtec TruePower 2.0 480W power supply. AMD64 4000? ASUS AV8-E OCZ EL Platinum Revision 2 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) ATI - Radeon X850XT Platinum, ATi (Original) RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition 256MB GDDR3 PCI-Express VIVO/ Dual DVI Thermalright XP-120 HSF Pioneer DVR-109 DVD Burner Maxtor DiamondMax 10 SATA II hard drive, 300GB, 16MB Buffer, 7200 RPM. All things subject to change.....like I'm not sure the Mobo supports SATA II at this time...someI'll address that. Also prices will vary as I'm ready to buy and I may buy something up or down. But this is what I'm planning to build over the next 4 months. I've been needing a new machine for over 3 years now. can't wait to play some FarCry2 on a new machine.....besides...I think my son is ready for his own computer. Let me know if I should think about other mobos/cpus/vid cards/ etc... <C> Fates

From what I see, it doesn't look as if UBI is supporting Online play anymore thru it's match-making service. However...while biting my tounge...Gamespy still supports LOMAC. Fates
