More Weapon problems
Fubar512 replied to Rambler 1-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Extract, and drop the TANK330_F14 folder into your weapons folder. Use this until the Mirage Factory releases their new F-14 models, with new tanks, etc. Also, carefully examine the folder and .ini structure, and you'll understand the process. tank330_f14.rar -

That's not what I was referring to. -
That wasn't cool (getting their ha has out of teasing that dog). As a pet owner, while I found it disturbing that they teased the pup, I did not see any of them physically abuse it. However placing an animal's welfare above a human being's, is nothing to brag about, either. So I strongly suggest that you rephrase your post, as several other board members found your wishes vis-a-vis the troops stepping on a land mine, even more disturbing than the content of the video.

More Weapon problems

Yes , you're right. Evidently, he is doing something wrong, either a tank designation mismatch between what's in the weapondata and the tank model's .ini, or folder name. Rambler, you are placing the tank model .lod(s) and any associated texture files in its own folder, and using a proper .ini file, right? -

Try removing the station code entry for the tanks (if they have one), using the weapon editor. -

You need to extract the Missileobject.ini from the objectdata.cat, and then edit it like so (keep in mind that these are my edits, you need to make sure that you perform edits based on the name(s) of the effects file that you have): [NukeExplosionEffect] GroundHitEffectName=NukeExplosionEffect GroundHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav WaterHitEffectName=NukeExplosionEffect WaterHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav ObjectHitEffectName=NukeExplosionEffect ObjectHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav ArmorHitEffectName=NukeExplosionEffect ArmorHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav AirBurstEffectName=AerialNukeEffect AirBurstSoundName=Nuclear.wav CraterModelName= CraterType=5 [AerialNukeEffect] GroundHitEffectName=NukeExplosionEffect GroundHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav WaterHitEffectName=NukeExplosionEffect WaterHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav ObjectHitEffectName=AerialNukeEffect ObjectHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav ArmorHitEffectName=AerialNukeEffect ArmorHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav AirBurstEffectName=AerialNukeEffect AirBurstSoundName=Nuclear.wav CraterModelName= CraterType=5 -

Did you perform the necessary edits in the missileobject.ini file? -
On the 10th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, there was an article in the science section of the NY Times, where they interviewed a scientist who'd been involved with NASA and the Apollo program. He stated that the Apollo 11 mission was a bold step, tantamount to "Columbus having tried to circumnavigate the globe on his first voyage, rather then having settled for an Atlantic crossing".

I remember all the hoopla surrounding the Beatles in the mid-1960s. Both my older brothers were fans, but I was too young to really appreciate them, back then. However, by the time I was a teenager, during the 1970s, I all but wore out my copy of the Revolver LP, so I have to say that the tracks contained in that album, were my favorites. I have one question to ask you all: Where were you on December 8, 1980? I had worked what amounted to a double shift that day at my job, had hurried home, and was sound asleep by 11:00 PM. The next morning, the only inkling I had that something was wrong, was that as I was driving in to work, there were nothing but Beatles songs playing on all the NY radio stations. It wasn't until after I had actually arrived at my job, that I found out what that was all about....John Lennon had been shot and killed. It was the main topic of conversation in the locker room, and most of us "younger" guys were pretty shaken by that. Scott Muni, a DJ at New York's WNEW, said it best, "It was the day that we were all forced to grow up." Muni was close to John Lennon, and after Lennon's murder he vowed to always open his show with a Lennon or Beatles record, a pledge that he kept for the balance of his career.

No, but there are at least two third-party ones out there, though. -

Hopefully better than "The Day the Earth Stood Still", as that's one film that's best avoided.

As the last HEI-equipped car rolled out of the factory sometime (IIRC) in 1984, I believe that short of a tow, you'd be SOL. Hell, I'm willing to bet that a sizable percentage of mechanics today have never even seen a distributor before.
-
Save your money. I've heard too many horror stories about MSD ignitions. You can always carry a spare HEI coil and module in your car for a few dollars... When an MSD goes, it usually means no spark at all. BTW, my friend can fill you in on that hot setup for that beast, ignition-wise. It's good to 6500 RPM, and it costs just a few dollars more than a stock, OEM replacement.
-
The octane requirement for 9.5:1 (depending on how much spark advance you're running) will fall around 92-93, on a carbureted engine. Retroffiting TPI-EFI from a late 80's smallblock (and running a knock sensor), would allow you to run 87 in a pinch, but who wants to get involved with that nightmare? Especially since the factory EFI plenums stop breathing past 4800-5000 RPMs.

Here's my Buddy's '79 L82, with 275/60/15 Hoosiers (not really DOT approved), on 15x8 Minilite rims.
-
They are a ton better in the wet than the OEM Good Year Eagle LSs that my ride came with. Despite the increased foot print (275 vs 255), I'd say that my wet weather traction is superior at highway speed. They are noiser, though.

BFG Radial T/As...despite the lack of a speed rating, I can tell you that they hold up well at 130+ MPH And, my last set went almost 60K miles. My friend's brother has a Gen 2 F-body (a '79 Z28) that he stuffed a healthy 454 into. He runs the stock 3.08 gear set (it was originally an automatic), with an M-21 four speed, and Radial T/As. I've been with that lunatic when he's hit 6400 RPM in fourth gear, which translates to 160+ mph. At that speed, the car was doing the "death wobble", as too much air was getting underneath the car, causing the front end to wobble left/right

Well, now you need to go through the rest of the drive train. I'd recommend that you go with a suitably beefed-up Turbo 700-R4, with a high-stall speed TC, and a set of 3.70s. You'll need the dig from the 3.70s to keep you in the power band at low speeds, and the fourth (OD) gear on the 700 will bring the Revs down at highway speed, otherwise, you'll be taching about 2800-3000 RPM at 65 mph. From experience, I can tell you that the largest tires that'll fit under the fenders of a C3 'Vette, are 28"H x 11"W, or 275/60/15s.
-
C5, the carb in the image is a vacuum secondary carb. Did you dyno it with a different carb (ie, double-pumper)?

There are IDE/SATA to USB drive adapters that work with both 3.5" (desktop) and 2.5" laptop drives. Get one of those, and using your PC, see if you can read the data on your GF's laptop drive.
