Yes, up to a certain point, the main "marketing mistake" of Georges Lucas is to have delayed so much between 1982 and 1998 the first trilogy : All fans imagined things about the rest of the trilogy and logically, when the new trilogy was released, everybody was shouting treason on some points, which were somtimes justified, sometimes not

They did, but no RPK (combined ft and rp) as far as I know, just bombs and rocket pods -
It reminds me a french comics : the story was about a show on Mers El Kebir. The courageous french were traitorly attacked by the Swiss Navy.The hero asked the director : "I thought Mers El Kebir was a battle between the French and the British". The director answered : "My god, we could not do like this, this would have alienated us the US and British audience". It was a joke, but now,it has become reality.

In 1986, we wzere often playing the SW rpg, being carefull not to change anything : it was accepted by everybody that we could not tell what had happened before or after the "good trilogy", and that the true story should be left to Lucas. That Lucas failed with ep 1, 2 and 3 is a different matter.

95% of what was written after the "return of the jedi", and especially Admiral Thrawn is a rape to the original trilogy. When those pieces of toilet papers were released, all star wars lovers shouted for heresy.
