  1. One thing we did with the Janes USAF crowd was distrubute CD's, those that could burned the Mods (this was my niche since I could not 3d or could hardly skin aircraft), and sent them out. I distrubuted 35 or so CD's at my expense (total cost was about $1.50 each in the US) slightly more to go overseas. I did this at no expense to those that requested them, and frequently the recieving party would send me a check for $5, I more or less broke even. With Burners as common as they are now it can be done again. First say Skunkworks or Biohaz, creates a "Expansion Pak SW2003", it is downloaded (ICQ file transfer for lack of server space) by primary distrubuters whose email is posted on a distrubuters page. Those interested in getting the new release email one of the distrubuters on the Sw or BioHaz distributers page. A group of about ten distrubuters sends out 10 disks a piece (count me in as one), now potentially you got a 100 distrubuters, but lets say of the 100 disk sent out, 20 will start distrubuting, now you got 30 distrubuters on the list of emails, the first ten get tired of doing it so they take there names off the list, still twenty distrubuters, and the cycle continues. The trick is not to create a new pack every three months, a patch to the "mod" would have to be downloadable, and the sending of 300-700 megs of mods would more or less have to be annual, to keep the distrubuters expenses/time down. It worked for the Janes USAF crowd and their SP releases. As for TK handling player mods? I believe all he needs to do is distrubute the tools and impart some knowledge of what we can do (which he has done :D ), and from time to time, point the community in the right direction when they are stumped. Its up to the community to handle the rest IMHO. Cheers Beer
  2. This Subj is for this board, please post System Specs and 3d Mark screenshots for this ASUS A7V8X here :) ASUS A7V8X 2.4 AMD (2000) 512 Megs 3200 Samsung DDR Ram Abit GF4 4600ti Maxtor 80 gig 7200rpm HD 52x CD 48x24x48 CD Burner (may have to look that one up) Cheers Beer
  3. Jeff, I being a connseaur of the latest and greatest (at least in a wish I had it sense), I often like to ponder the "what if" I went with this component over another... I was wondering if in the hardware section, you could make a "Board" for OClocking, where the idea would be The subject Line would be the motherboard model say for example: Subj: ASUS A7V8X I am running a AMD 2.4 (2000) with 512 Megs 3200 Samsung DDR with a Abit GF4 4600ti I am overclocked @ 2100 yada yada with screenshots of my 3D Mark 2003 is xxxxx Anyone with that board would find it with the subject line and add there specs/benchmark to it or someone looking to buy that board could look and somewhat predict improvements from their old system; this would greatly assist in those purchasing decisions ;) and to see what others are able to do overclocking wise. I know we could hit overclocking forums...but why when we could do the same thing here, with guys playing the same games we are... Just a thought. Cheers Beer
  4. LOL, These days, one could pick on hal for being flabby! Look at the size of that case! My AMD would run circles round that Hal with two simms tied behind its back! hehe Good cartoon! Cheers Beer
  5. I am the one in the hat... On the bridge wing of the Deep Seas, M/V C-Rambler off our Port side. I am not the Captain but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Select for crew change :) I think I trimmed the nose hairs the following day. Cheers Beer
  6. Man I wish I could texture like that! Great job! CHeers Beer
  7. Yes you are correct, Brew and I noticed this while formation flying in multiplayer on machines that where side by side. The host does not see the airfield, the joiners do. To the best of my knowledge I believe the TW crew have been told about it. Cheers Beer
  8. How did ya do the lights on the objects??? I need Nav Lights for my ships :) and obstruction lights for my cranes. Great Job ! Beer
  9. Still Amatuerish but hey...I looked into classes for 3D Max $900 (134 six packs of Beer) for 4 sessions! LOL I think I will stick to Tuturials, Trail and Error, and just point and clicking until the desired results show up...LOL last year all I could do is modify existing skins! Hopefully I will be releasing stuff soon, I just need to learn more so my readme files are accurate for installing and using this stuff... Thanks for the encouragement! No where near the skills of the guys doing the plane add-ons but I am learning new Max stuff each project I try. Hope to Map and skin the Drill Rig this weekend (primer spots and holidays just like my guys do! I nicknamed one of the seaman Doc Holiday because of all the holidays he leaves when he paints!). I have a multiplayer "attack and defend" vision that involves two coastlines 60-75 miles apart, you gotta CAP your "Marine Oil Assets" and at same time destroy the opposing team's assets...Respawns are at the ramp. Either a Timed "points" (kills and damaged ground targets) ending...or a first one to destroy the opponents. Think it is feasible...That would one up the old Janes USAF furballs! Cheers Beer
  10. Pasco I tried PMing ya but it is hanging in my out box... Anyways...Naturally...How did ya do that! LOL This is what I am thinking... In Max you made objects named turrent and barrel, assisned the axis and hieracy, Edited the .ini from the patrol boat to match your new creation and it worked? I think why it is not working is I did not name the gun parts per the .ini entries... Anyways this is a great advancement to ship making! I will likely have to detail the guns better, if I can get them to work as you did yours! Cheers Beer
  11. I have tried about everything I can think of. Do you have a cargoship_data.ini that makes the ship shoot at aircraft. If I am given one that works I think I can modify it to reflect the guns positions (they will not trak but the gunfire will come from there approximate locations. I am fixing on giving up, and moving on. Cheers Beer
  12. Ron Jermey and Jenna Jameson? Cheers Beer
  13. This is good...just what I needed, to start up some anti shipping stuff. The Carrier we can add to the ground objects as a separate object as the Soviet DD. I did the the Carrier to Cargoship thing just because it was easy to do. Now let me see if if I can make a mission with the Carrier, the Soviet DD, the Container Ship and Tanker all in one... Heres a pic of the Soviet DD. I need help to make the Ships hostile and fire at aircraft, any takers on the object.ini for the various ships? Currently in the Big Beers Shipyard A USN PHM 1 A USN Sumner Class DD The USN CV-41 is getting reworked Cheers Beer
  14. The spin is away from the land terrain/objects and the sea/air battle one may see while flying with "Wings of Gold". Likely Soviet Objects I will make: Kresta I/II Slava Udaloy Krivak I/II Foxtrot Victor I/II Likely US Objects I will make Forrest Sherman DD Coontz DDL/DDG Leahy CG Knox FFG LA SSN Cheers Beer
  15. And I am churning out Ship objects! A tutorial or how to would be nice for the readme. Cheers Beer
  16. No need to conserve it, I am getting it for ya, located in Green Canyon 640 here in the Gulf of Mexico, me and my gang of toolpushers, drillers, mechanics, roustabouts, and seaman are drilling away so you need not worry about the importing, we got it right here, hook load over 700,000 pounds, 4200' of water drilling over 20,000' deep and still going. Just so you know we burned 9,768 gallons of fuel doing it today...now being a drillship that is station keeping we did 0 miles (we orbit maybe 6' around the desired position) to 9,768 gallons...but if measure distance through the water (current) thats about 271 gallons per mile... Cheers Beer
  17. I heard Whoopopye was really Kid Rock...and also flys under another alias Unkle Kracker... :D Cheers Beer
  18. I am currently sitting on a drill ship drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico. My ship is contracted by ChevronTexaco. I am not going to engage into heavy politics and economics discussions; I will say my peice and leave it at that...(I come here for Flight sim conversation). The North Sea has Oil, the Gulf of Mexico has Oil, and Brazil has Oil; as "well" (no pun intended) as other locations throughout the world (Africa for instance). BP and Chevron Texaco has had success in the exploring the Gulf of Mexico ( 8) ). My ship can drill in water 10,000' deep and to well depths of 35,000', this technology as we gain more knowledge will improve even further. IMHO we are not slaves to the gas and oil prices of the "Middle East". When the MidEast oil is used up (their supplies though vast is not limitless), guess who will be selling to them, from wells offshore. In my opinion...Doesn't it make sense to use their oil up first???? LOL they better learn to Brew Beer cus they are gonna need something else to export as their wells dry up. Strategic reserves are not called strategic reserves for nuthin. So go ahead and Boycot ChevronTexaco, Shell, Exxon Mobil, BP Amoco. Go ahead and bury the US Oil companies and put their workers outta business. Hurt the U.S. economy some more (by doing something someone told you was the right thing to do, who likely just buys gas and does not work or understand the oil industry). They importing from the Mideast? You bet! But there is reason for it. Its a commodity, when they got nuthin, they will be buying from US. Will we see it in our lifetime, maybe, maybe not. In most cases these emails are from people who have no clue, My sister in law for instance sends crap out about saving Tibet...think she has been out of the U.S.? No she hasn't. The antiwar crap she sends too...think she ever served her country? No she hasn't. Its so easy to click forward and add names to list isn't it ??? Me? I am gonna pull over and buy gas where-ever I need it from whichever Company is selling it, hell I am even get a couple Little Debbies, some Pepsi, and a case of Beer for the house too. Just my Opinion on the matter. Not bashing your opinion, just stating mine (I am bashing the ol sister in law...) Cheers Beer <-----drives a F150 Supercrew gas guzzler too. Oh and all those millions of emails are not only gonna slow the economy more if people listen to them but its gonna slow us online gamers down by using our Bandwidth...
  19. I am running the USB Fighter stick, USB Pro Pedals, and the USB Pro throttle and have a really good configuration, I can set you up in three weeks when I get off my ship if your interested. Cheers Beer
  20. Phab you can have higher res pilot skins, just change the file size to say 800x800, make your changes, then reduce back, this concept is how I got the "Danger Jet Intake" and the "Rescue" legible on the VF-84 skin (2048x2048). For this helmet I resized to 800x800, used the font "Wingdings" and applied the Scull and X-Bones. I used the Character Map to search the Font for an Helmet symbol to apply. Cheers Beer
