Making good progress on the 3-color camo skins and should complete them this weekend. Shot below shows the WIP baseline skins. Top aircraft is the BoB variant (for SF2), lower aircraft is the desert variant (for FE2). The CR42 will be released with a graphics pack of markings that will enable any modder familiar with a paint program, such as Photoshop, to make new hi-res skins, or variants of the baseline skins. -

Because we are both working on 1940 stuff, baffmeister and I have joined forces to produce aircraft that can be used in both the desert and BoB. I'm finishing up the 3-color camo for the CR42 - there will be BoB markings included in the graphics pack. -
If you are willing to do the work, what is needed is finished menus in both sizes. Some of your menus, for example the credits screen, feature an ornate border that is a good stylistic match for the WW1 period. Could you develop menu variants that have a different stylistic "feel"? Something that matches the 1930s? Whether you make a few modifications to your existing menus, or design totally new ones I leave up to you. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am making a selection of bombs for the 1940 desert war and Spanish civil war. I can't find much information about 1930s Soviet bombs, needed for Spain. Can you help me out? What colors were Soviet bombs and did they have any ID markings? Thanks.

NIELS - Your shots show the SE5s bobbing and weaving all over the sky. That's what often happened to me, generally when I switched flight modes (manual, auto pilot, etc). Earlier FE threads have commented on this. It is erratic - sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. It hasn't happened lately now that I use Quack74's files. As my focus is developing new models, I don't know any more about this problem. One possible solution is Quack74's attack formation files. You might look them over to make sure you are altering the correct ini files? http://combatace.com/files/file/12854-new-formation-for-attack-aircraft/ IIRC, the problem happens more often if you start your game session on the ground, and happens less often if you start your game session in mid-air. Maybe some other guys can shed more light on this? -

While I can't offer NIELS any assistance, I can confirm that Quack74's AI parameters do improve formations in my install. While the AI aircraft do not hold precise, picture perfect formations, they no longer bob and weave drunkenly all over the sky. They now clump together in a compact gaggle that conforms to the player's aircraft. Thanks. Edit: On my rig, the formations usually break up if I switch from manual control to auto pilot. Two shots below from two different sessions. Second shot below shows a nearly perfect formation before switching flight modes. First shot shows formation after switching back and forth - it has degraded only a small amount. -
Not to worry, I remain focused on the 1940 desert stuff. Basically, we were talking about what might come after that - in a year or so. BTW, several hundred CR32s remained in service when Italy declared war on Britain - they were used as ground attack aircraft and second line fighters in remote areas.

IIRC, a couple of Northrop Gammas were smuggled into Spain and used as light bombers?

Good idea! A very interesting biplane. The A-team model was obtained from Turbosquid and has a number of inaccuracies. Most obvious are incorrect rear fuselage, wheel spats too large, plus should hang down more below the aircraft in flight - no weight on wheels. A few more possibilities. I can modify my Chinese Dewoitine 510 for Spain.

Yep, I "borrowed" the Fox files to briefly get the Hartebeest into the air to see if it would fly. I had lots of CG problems with the CR42, but part of the problem was I had forgotten some of what I had learned making the Martinsyde. I'm quickly checking my other models now that I have remembered the tricks. I'll expand the quick and dirty kluge jobs into releasable aircraft later as I finish each aircraft. Good catch.

Five of the Italian aircraft I have made for the 1940 desert war can also be used for a Spanish Civil War mod: - Caproni Ca133 - FIAT CR32 - IMAM Ro37 - Savoia Marchetti SM79 - Savoia Marchetti SM81 A small number of CR42s arrived in the last days of the war for operational testing. I also have plans to make some Republican aircraft:

I've made one WW1 aircraft - the Martinsyde G100/102 - and will eventually make a few more. But 1930s aircraft need love too!
