  1. You know, that is a great idea Gunney. I never thought to use a turret as a "secondary gun". You just have to limit the cone of fire to match the primary gun.
  2. My response on the subject is not going to be popular here or with TK. Just ignore my comments if they offend those of you who worship at the Thirdwire altar. I'm all for TK making changes and evolving his game. I don't see how anyone has ever given him business advice except when it comes to MP. Other than that, people have asked for this feature or that one. It will always be that way. What upsets me is in the manner in which he responds to his customers. Almost as if we were his children asking for something not in the household budget. Some of us have been asking for the same things since day one only to be told that he is a "one man team" or "not his idea of fun". That would be fine except we end up with things like Blue Tiger Enabler patches or Matrox TripleHead2Go support. Who asked for this and why do they deserve more resources than what many have previously asked for? Business is business, but why are the ones who have been purchasing every game TK has put out "to support" his development treated like they are being greedy children? I know, I don't have to buy anything. I do it to support him and the outside possibility that if I keep stuffing dollar bills into his wallet he will maybe, just maybe, implement a few of my requests. I am not feeling entitled to anything more than what he has put up for download. I am feeling more like some lame patron at a strip bar hoping the dollar bills he's stuffed into the hot dancer's bikini will get him more than a fake wink and smile. I think I just found my cure to this feeling - no more wallet stuffing until I see some titties. CA has always been a Thirdwire friendly place if not THE Thirdwire place. Why doesn't he post here? Even for updates or WIPs? I would like to see an in depth interview and a Question/Answer on him and his team. This might alleviate some ill feelings and shed some light on projects that are on the front burner. After all, Combat Ace is where most of his customers are.

  4. All those suggestions sound great. Unfortunately, many of us have grown accustomed to hearing no or just plain ol' silence in regards to requests for expansion of the game. My two requests (helo FM and A2G turrets) will most likely be in the no category until I've shelled out the purchase price for every game until SF5 or later. Don't lose heart though, I'm always wrong.

  6. The white lines on the tile edges were fixed on my PC by increasing the anti-aliasing.

    Bought my first house, second son was born, met a bunch of great friends and I think, apart from a major reset of the economy, the bad has been balanced out pretty good for me.
  9. I'll look into that. I hope its not limited to FIXED guns on aircraft. That's looking real sweet, Gunney.
  10. Monitor Program 5 with a 105 Howitzer for pillboxes and a couple of 20mm turrets for the smaller fleshier stuff. You won't see it wandering alone.
  11. That's what I was afraid of. Since ships don't have "shocks" the recoil would be limited to only having the ship move in the opposite direction of fire. Thanks Gunney.
  12. Not sure if my memory is fading but was there ever some coding for gun recoil - visual or simulated? I'm trying to make a gun slide back into a mesh once it fires. While I'm at it, I'd also like to know if that recoil can affect ships? I know that recoil does affect aircraft. Maybe I can get this monster to lay waste along the Mekong
  13. Turrets on aircraft are limited to targeting AIR targets only. Odd limitation but its what we have to live with.
  14. Water level is fixed in Dec 2009 patch.
  15. If you don't have one, then make a folder named Aircraft and you can begin to drop new aircraft into it.
  16. Thanks guys for the help and info. I think since all stock boats show this bug, it should be fixed by TK. The last thing I want to do is readjust all of my boats COG to work in this water level only to have TK fix it later...where I'll have to lower the COG again.
  17. I'm trying to track down a problem with a merged install SF2/SF2V/SF2E/SF2I. The issue is that once you patch up SF2I with the latest patch, it changes the water level in SF2V by 0.80 meters. This isn't so obvious on large ships or CVs but on sampans and smaller boats - they appear sinking or sunk. This is how the VietnamSEA_data.ini looks post patch [HeightOffset] NonTexturedMesh=-10.0 TexturedMesh=-5.0 DetailedMesh=0.0 LowDetailMesh=-1.5 WaterMesh=0.8 <---------<<< I need this info from an unpatched merged or fully patched stand-alone SF2V install. I'm guessing its 0.0 or much lower than 0.80. I want to make sure before I change out all my boat XYZ COG. HERE is an accompanying topic at Thirdwire.
  18. We used Lemon Pledge furniture polish on the windscreens of all of our helos. It worked so much better than that crappy white liquid and gauze combo they insisted we must use.
  19. Unfortunately, the game doesn't handle watercraft in a random manner. You must create a custom mission for it to appear.

  21. I will eat just about anything. Something I do when trying a new dish for the first time is try to limit one sense at a time. I try to not look or smell something until after I taste it. If I hate the taste, the other senses won't help it much.

  23. I think you'll find that there is no 100% rule in Thirdwire sims. There is a lot of hit or miss with decals being one of the main culprits. Glad you figured it out.
  24. I'd guess that its the name of the mesh that is incorrect or a decal name length issue ( did TK ever fix that bug?). Can you post the decal ini, we might be able to better see what might be the cause.
