  2. Can you describe the flickering problem more in depth? I don't think I've ever seen it on a canopy.
  3. Spiff mentioned that it was brought up before and that the problem was being worked on. Not being Spiff, I can only assume he is upset over the bug being there in the first place. As to his opinion of customer service - have you ever been frustrated to the point you make no sense on the internet? I have. I would take away from this thread that this was a simple venting thread. Instead of talking him down from the ledge, we just told him to jump. I see these threads from time to time and usually ignore them for what they are...maybe I should have followed my first instinct and not replied but I'm bored and I really should be getting ready for work.
  4. I use to work for Activision for years and tested too many titles to recall them all. The first thing we did when testing a new version was wipe the previous version of the game off the drive. If there were other titles that interacted with the new version, they too were removed. This did not happen with the released version but, it should have happened. What I'm trying to say in this thread is to cut people some slack when they are upset with having found a bug that should have been caught. Even though there is a work around for this particular problem and it appears that Thirdwire is working on it, not many are happy with the thought of reinstalling the game/games to whatever level of customization they want. Beta testing is a tough business. I know, I was there. Many times the developers made changes after we were done testing and released the title. Many times the bugs and our pleas to fix them went seemingly ignored. Many times the bugs would be fixed at a later date. Thirdwire has a good track record for squashing bugs.
  5. I'll peel the onion back and attempt to dissect what the complaint is all about. Ignoring the obvious frustration, all I read is that Spiff is upset at what should have been an obvious bug during beta testing. Its amazing that there are so few major bugs with Thirdwire releases. Its the minor ones and the quantity that cause frustration. This is one of them. Speaking with many modders off line, I hear lots of complaints about quality and bugs right after game/patch release. Some of them are more colorful in the language use and excitement than Spiff.
  6. I believe that happiness is a state of mind. I'm a master at life screwing me over, so I learned early to not fight it and open my eyes up wider to see - not just at what is right in front of you, you begin to notice the seemingly insignificant things that can bring you the most joy. Obviously, family and friends are a part of that but on a deeper more personal level, its the string of green lights when you are late for work, finding a fiver in your laundry or your wife smiling at you through a window when you're busting your butt planting some flowers for her.

  9. Not retired, more like left out in the SF2/V release. Like I said, the FAC type will work in single missions but you won't be seeing him in any random game created missions. As far as I know, to get the FAC to mark targets can only be done via single user created missions.
  10. Thanks for the compliment, Kevin. TK has stated that the O-1 will return. No time, no date and no idea on the capacity. There use to be lots of unused sound files specifically for the FAC that hinted at what TK possibly wanted the FAC to do. It sucks that he's gone but you can make single missions where the FAC marks targets for you.
  11. Flares are made as very light rockets. I suppose if you created a flare with an impact effect that is just a small flame that emits light, you would have what you need.
  12. Right to vote granted after national service? WTF?! So now we're going to amend amendments to the Constitution? Sometimes I really wonder why I risked my ass on the Fulda Gap. Mandatory paid military service? No. Mandatory paid civil or military service? Yes. Two years minimum to be served before or after university.

  14. There is only one person who has excluded the MP community. That was accomplished by not including it in the SF2 engine. I call that a self inflicted wound. For whatever reason that was done, the blame lies there and not with this community.
  15. The problems with YAP helicopters is that the FM is not built with the new SF2 game engine in mind. They are stuck in the older game engine and most likely won't be fixed due to FM creator laziness...maybe since YAP1 is no longer supported, you could consider it abandonware. If you have an engine/rotor that does not turn, look at the data within the multiple engines to see where it is located XYZ and either adjust the diameter or the location in the Z axis. This "should" fix the rotors stopping. I know because I have rebuilt my FMs to work under the SF2 engine with no problems. The UH-1s are very broken, BTW. They have lots of issues with the landing gear...known since they were released.
  16. They are "craters" not infantry. Make a soldier model in the shape of a bomb and drop them one by one or all at once and they will show up as infantry "craters".

  21. Are you saying that the included O-1 weapons don't work? or other weapons that you are adding don't work? If its other weapons, then you must add the info from the missileobject ini and add it to your weapons data ini. Do you have KB's new weapons pack? I'm almost 100% positive that they were updated. Minds kinda foggy.

  24. Biggest differences are weapons, guns and pilots and where they are placed in the file structure. The planes should in any series if dropped into you *\Objects\Aircraft folder. More and more mods are going this route to take advantage of new code in the SF2 series. I would begin to get familiar with the steps in making acft backwards compatible.
  25. I'm on XP too with an nVidia card. Like I said before, I see it too but once in a while. Its frustrating to chase down things like this.
