  1. Look at these medals, it looks like our Generalisimo still love play with Legos !
  2. It may be due to the missile type, the first 'Sparrow' gen or others like Magic I and Shaffrir I was knowed to fall like 'bidons' even after been locked.
  3. As he's with the "Remove Before Flight" safeties, these doors might be a simple inspection hatches. Normally the main differences are an overall strengthening of the cell, the addition of the catapult launch bar on the nose wheel, the tailhook and spoilers on the sides of the unit.
  4. I should try to find photos of my great uncle, he had fought in Indochina on 'Bearcat' and keep many pictures of him and his wing men, close to the water, the tip of the blades touching the surface.
  5. Thank you, "Lexx", this link is exciting and rewarding about the behavior of S.A.C flight crews, I'm drowning in all these stories since last night ! Several men of exception will continue to fly the old reliable 52 again for a while. In a similar category, there's the testimony of Major Tom Allison, first pilot to have taken the SR-71 over Europe on 20 May 1977.
  6. Number of... "friends" on Facebook... on a CV ??? We live in a really sad period
  7. It responds well to the question, and thank you for kindly reply. One can easily imagine that these helmets shouldn't be comfortable to wear during these racetrack missions that lasted many hours.
  8. All this is right, the U.S.A.F launch his own short to middle range AA missile with Hughes and his IR or SARH AIM-4 Falcon
  9. Thank you for sharing the link. But the article does not mention if the "Patrouille Suisse" will remain a time on their Tiger or switch to another platform, perhaps PC-9 or PC-21 ?
  10. I know that the Swiss have previously operated the Hunter and "Mirage" III, but abandon the twin-engine "Hornet" for the Gripen, isn't an additional risk to the pilots of this mountainous country ? Or maybe the Saab aircraft isn't a F-18 replacement for long-term but a sort of "complement" ?
  11. Beautiful ! It's nice to be able to enhance our collection of U.S.A.F in Europe aircrafts
  12. A Queen song love the fatties.
  13. Old classic but still nice
  14. Agree. Get overloaded of this add request and always refused.
  15. 'Lexx_Luthor': haha nice, I imagine the sight of your friends return from the registration office, limping from sore knees
  16. If it can help to understand the "why and how" this guy was a "Tomcat" pilot...
  17. "As soon as the pilots get their assignments, they are at war." That's what a guy from the U.S.N told me when I only was a kid during their short stop with the JFK off Philipsburg (SXM).
  18. As far as I remember, it crashed near the village of Vali Abad, near Tehran. The seven people aboard were killed. The accident occurred in the Qarchak region, near a place where they attended a military parade. Early reports indicated that the I.R.I.A.F aircraft had crashed while on maneuvers in the parade to celebrate the national week of the defense. But the officials Iranian military quickly denied, saying that the crash happened during an exercise near Qarchak and had no connection with the aerial maneuvers of the parade.
  19. Having recently returned to a specific old book about the KC-135 a detail struck me about the crew of the 'Silver Sows'. Everyone aboard wears a helmet with visor, I have a feeling that this is a copy looking like those worn by the crews of B-52, I could be wrong. But why the 'Stratotanker' crews wear these helmets ? As most of the pictures come from a KC-135Q, was it to protect them from the corrosive danger of JP-7 or to be protected against a nuclear flash ? Someone got an idea or the response ?
  20. If only ... without considering these cases (of ass bags) apart, some nations want more now rename children names 'marked by evil,' such as with Italy, which some years ago gave a bonus to parents wanting to name their son Benito.
  21. Nice, now we got a classic J57 powered KC-135A !
  22. Cool idea, but there is a little mistake on the "Foxhound" : it lacks a small part of the front of the left wing.
  23. That is one cool 'what if' campaign, thank for it !

    The Corps!

These men are proof for more than two centuries that it is possible to bring together elite troops ... and there ! Happy Birthday to the U.S.M.C and also to all those guys who are currently away from home.
