15 May 1975: Jolly Green 44 approaches USS Holt off of Koh Tang Island while extracting Marines after the recovery of the SS Mayaguez. Jolly Green 44, a HH-53, was able to expedite the withdrawal of Marines on the beach by offloading on Holt, with only the nose wheel touching down the landing pad. All in complete darkness. To go all the way to the carrier Coral Sea would have taken 30 minutes and the Marines remaining on the beach were in danger of being overrun. Once the 34 Marines on this trip were onboard Holt, Jolly Green 44 was on the beach for another pick up in 5 minutes 38 US service members were lost during what became known as the Mayaguez Incident, also generally considered the final US battle of the Vietnam War -

strategically this is true but who has the money to practice this? im not even going the "US is so great" route with that. its expensive to maintain 3 carriers let alone 11 -
slightly more serious but still funny... a few of the bootleg DVDs i bougth in Iraq actually had a "tour the factory" bit in the extras. and yes, it did show smiling workers opening legit DVDs and loading them in one machine, hooked up to 20 others with presumable blanks. was somewhere in the Philippines; not surprising as the Philippinoes working on Balad AB were the best source for bootleg anything without leaving the wire

asked it before, will ask it again why not multi house tod objects? i know the texturing would be a pain, but just keep the houses simple (youd be suprised how many American neighborhoods have cookie cutter houses) you have a 500 object limit, but could you have this instead of this

i could complain that the sale of capital ships is forbidden under US law. but i could see the current Congress passing an exemption or overturning it. the catch would then be to get the assests in Japan's hands before 2027, when the presumably Democrat led Congress takes over and starts fighting POTUS tooth and nail.... -
oof sucks more when its self inflicted than something like a system crash or power outage right before you pause to save

"Well, boys, we got three engines out, we got more holes in us than a horse trader's mule, the radio is gone and we're leaking fuel and if we was flying any lower why we'd need sleigh bells on this thing... but we got one little budge on them Rooskies. At this height why they might harpoon us but they dang sure ain't gonna spot us on no radar screen! "

hello, and welcome to CA a couple of etiquette tips: 1 dont include the pics in your quotes unless you are trying to highlight something very specific; 2 in screenshot threads, post a pic even when replying to someone elses post. mando screenie (or some other semi witty comment like i'd usually post above the pic) again, enjoy. have fun. show us what youre flying with!

yeah, it suprised me that CAP did that well, the phone was a Samsung Galaxy Note. i get a new one about every 5 years right before the battery on the old explodes

that looks abit smaller than the first pic i swear i do not remember the second runway. but i was not ever above it, and most of my time in the 90s was at NAS Glenview when they had their airshow (in conjunction with the Chicago Air and Water Show iirc). but all those memories were a literal lifetime and a few wars ago for me. i mainly mention it to try and bring my home town into game
-
well, last time i was there was 1999 it might have gotten bigger since, esp since Miegs Field in Chicago got bulldozed
-
might have asked before, after your recent Screenshot Thread post will ask again how far into Illinois are you going with this? thats effectively my home town (its kinda complicated), and it does have small airport about where the left edge of the "R" is on this map
-
sounds about right for Michigan. theres only a couple dozen types to choose from in Michgan alone.....

yes but lets get to the real questions: did you get enough ice cream after the tonsils and when do they activate the mutation making you invincible? j/k of course. it sounds like things are mostly going the right way, here's hoping it keeps on getting better

“Can you move the Helicopter to the other side, I can land on your runway, I can fly 1 hour more, we have enough to move. Please rescue me. Major Bung, wife and 5 child.”

my original advise to Erik was to place limits on the various subscription levels, but he majorly didnt want to do that so now my advise to the whiners is to make a list of what they want, pay teh trial subscription and get everything on their list. a couple days should be enough time and outside extreme circumstances the price is about the same as a cheap fast food meal.
