When will someone make the P-8 Poseidon?
daddyairplanes replied to Benetnasch's topic in General Discussion
allow me to expand on Muesli's reply those of us who make content for the game (models, skins, decal packs, terrains) do so as a hobby that takes up our free time. there was a Poseidon in initial works, but that modeller had to retire from modding due to health issues as for tools to work with, you can use Photoshop and 3DS Max 2009 version to create models and skins. OR... since those are are expensive you can also use GIMP for skinning and Blewnder (version 2.79) to create models i would make some simple stuff first to practice before launching into a fully functional anti submarine warfare aircraft tho -

My experience flying Strike Fighters 2 with a joystick
daddyairplanes replied to pilot1600's topic in General Discussion
of course a joystick will add immersion to any flight sim series sadly, 75% of my flights are checking stuff in game (still needed now and again even with lodviewer) and for that i just use the keyboard commands. that said, if Santa dont bring me a Warthog HOTAS, im defineatly getting one outta tax returns -
i thought i'd lost this skin! guess i should throw the Hawaii terrain in the mix, so TC can have his bird back

what youre trying to do is like making toast on a stovetop, while the rest of us are just popping it in the toaster yes its possible, but much more trouble thatn its worth if you have a toaster( or Windows computer). especially for a game that hasnt had official support in 12 years and the core 3rd party people have been at it modding over those last 13 years (we've lost more modders over time than we've picked up if you want to do this, by all means. i dont want to discourage you. but do realize you probably wont get much help either

99.99% of the time it will be better to use a decal. there are occasions where on skin is better, but they are few and far between generally the issue a less experienced user may have with decals is that you not only have to be decent with Photoshop or GIMP to create the image, you have to master the decal.ini and learn the mesh names and coordinates so that the image shows up once you learn it, its pretty easy to figure out and make the ini dance for you, but you do gotta learn it.

very nice now, where are the special paint jobs (inspired by corresponding RL Zipper special schemes)?
