brings me back to my $10 Million estimate. i doubt anyone seriously offered the man 7 figures for the IP then, even if you did convince him, you'd need to get folks to work on it. i usually daydream a mix of college students and modders from here. 5 figure annual for the kids, 6 figure annual for the older heads. plus new rigs and monitors for all involved i mean i could sit on it and let one or two hack away for funsies. but if you spend 1-5 million on something, you probably want some sort of return on investment....... and yes. if i ever win the lottery, Erik will be first to know. followed by TK. followed by several here at CA

Blood Chit, is it still in use?
daddyairplanes replied to Gepard's topic in Pilot Stories and Adventures
well, getting the dude with a pipe to calm down would be first priority. reaching for a blood chit could easily be construed as reaching for a weapon. -
cant help with this im afraid but nice to see you coming out of one retirement as youre heading into another.

not gonna argue about Steam/GoG sales or decent pricing for on there. but consider, it is HIS game. his creation, his baby the South Vietnam Hercules skin, one of my simplest and easiest to create, still took about 48 hours to create. not 4 days, 48 individual hours spread over two weeks (no pun intended). thats one skin for one established aircraft. TK made a whole series of games, and owns the IP to every bit of it that comes off the TW website. it might be old. he might not be doing much with it. he might not be managing the sales of it well. but it is still TKs baby. and if he was going to sell out cheap like 300K, he would have done so along time ago.

you'd need to have the money up front to but it. given he still gets some income from it, think high 6 figure minimum. more likely a million or two now, if youre spending that much money to get teh IP, youre probably not buying for the fun of the community. so youre now going to have to hire on some folks to update the early 2000s Win7 original to a 2026 Win11/12 standard. prefereably a mix of experienced modders and new blood. so thats a few million in payroll and equipment, even if you let everyone work remote. throw in lawyers for legal stuff, advertising (TKs big mistake back in the day) to at least break even and other unforseen expenses and youre talking at least $10 Million. low ball estimate without the expectation of your creation rivalling DCS or War Thunder. mulitply by 5 or 6 if you want it good enough to be the dominant flight sim out there. except for the talking to TK i've done minor looking into it, and it is a recurring daydream on long road trips. most commonly launched when the lottery billboards are up above 100 mil.

it was much more prevalent on the short nosed Phantoms, the long nose birds typically went gray late enough to go straight to Hill 2. but quite a few Reserve and ANG birds were Hill 1 (reminders of the Hasegawa "Egypt 1" models from years ago) since its not friday anymore, i'll just put these here i'll just make my own Hasegawa box art

while the game is in fact biased to the western stuff working better, you need to consider something since the 1970s, the Soviets/Russians would release a weapon, and make claims on it. western intelligence would then analyze and make judgements based on western thinking. so we ( the US particularly) make weapons to beat what we THINK the Soviet/Russian systems can do when the weapons meet on a battlefield (or even just get seen like the MiG-25 in Japan 1976), the Soviet/Russian systems tend to fall way way short of brochure. meanwhile, the Russians release something new they claim will beat the current US system lather. rinse. repeat.

breathe man. breathe..... he making his couple posts so he can get his 2 free DLs per Eriks new policy the variety and type are amusing. but its way way way better than the dearth of "why cant i download" posts that were prevalent 6 months ago i thought someone was paying somebody else to create one. legit model, fresh build. been awhile since there was updates and dont remember if it got completed and released or not tho i do know Flogger23 wasnt working that. (did he ever release his Fitters? )

Three US F-15E shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses.
daddyairplanes replied to KJakker's topic in Military and General Aviation
the error (human or computer) was more likely on the part of the Patriot. one jets IFF down, i believe. three down in the same flight? nope somebody didnt read the scope right or the black box that says "thats a good guy" broke that said, i would like to take the time to mention that the MIM-104 has now shot down more US fighters in the 21st century than the S300 and 400 combined -
How to play "Red side" without being obliterated?
daddyairplanes replied to MAF1247's topic in General Discussion
same as the AIM-9P given to many allies when we were using Js the "exact same thing as Uncle Sam uses" sales for everyone is a recent thing. previously you got a different version (F-4F, F-4E(J) ) or paid top dollar while professing to hate communists (IIAF F-4s and F-14s) off topic, if the Shah's son takes over when it all shakes out in Iran, does that mean a new order for Imperial Iranian Air Force F-16s? -
How to play "Red side" without being obliterated?
daddyairplanes replied to MAF1247's topic in General Discussion
more like a theft. by the Americans or Brits, who could have military liasonh teams travel all over Germany (as could the French and Soviets) i remember hearing or reading somewhere that one such team found an R-3S and stuck it in the trunk of their official vehicle. East German polizei were not allowed to stop them, but the West German polizei ticketed them when back on our side of teh Curtain because they didnt hang a red oversize flag off of it! wish i could remember where i got that from, but i do know it was before i got married so i heard about it before 99....... -

so if any of the rest of us want to clean our rooms of this house, do i understand that its preferred to simply hide them? and if it is preferred to totally zonk them (preference by site staff not author) do you want to build a list up and handle it all at once or take it case by case? this thread reminds me that i've redone several of my earliest mods as my skills got better, and it would probablly be a good idea to remove most of my 2012-2014 work
