  1. BH, ole chap! You can change the AI behavior of the Fees quite easily! Just go to the aircraft folder and open up the FE2b folders inside (AC1 to AC5, SQ1 to SQ4, QC1, and Sqd). Then, open the xdp file inside each folder and look for the following: Category="tactical_bomber" (it's about 5 lines from the top of the file). Edit that line to read Category="fighter_bomber" and save. Your Fee will now fly like a scout! Unfortunately, you will probably see some strange AI behavior, especially at low levels, like lots of wingovers and stalling behavior. However, if you keep them at height and at relatively high speed, they do quite nicely! Good luck and give us a mission report!
  2. Okey dokey. If the font can't be made larger, perhaps you could change to all capital letters in the quick scenario screen?
  3. I didn't get a response the first time, so I'll try again: Otherwise, everything looks great!
  4. Roger that, Madmatt. Enjoy the sandy beaches, gentle tropical breezes, and warm sun! Send us a postcard!
  5. Madmatt, The file you are looking for is ambienceroom.wav and is located here: \OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\ShellMusic Now, show us what you've got!
  6. Good news! From looking in the new DM files for the just released patch, it appears that 3rd party DM mods will still work with the new patch! I'm not positive about MP, but it should still work even with alternative mods such as Fortiesboy's or myself. Compared to the previous "hardcore" DM, there are some noticeable changes to the DM in the new patch. However, the differences are less apparent when compared to either FB's or my own DMs, IMHO. I'm not yet at liberty to describe these changes until I get permission from Pol or Winder, but the new DM does seem, along with several other changes, to also have implemented at least some of the changes FB and I have made in our own mods. Many people will obviously prefer the new official DM, but I think there is still plenty of room for people to enjoy the other DMs, too. So, my advice is to try the new official DM first, and then load any of the other DMs and compare them with the new patch. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised!
  7. Ooooh, I like the new artwork on the main screen! You even have a 'tross on the front to make Olham a very happy camper. I assume OvS is responsible for the new screen? Great job! I also like the more periodic looking artwork in the setup and loading screens. Feels even more immersive. 2 minor quibbles. In the quick scenarios section, the font size is really small for my middle-aged eyes. Can this be increased? Second, I am very glad to see that you have entered a lot more ace information in the ace dossiers section. Unfortunately, the text font color appears to be the same as the background color so cannot be read. From spying inside the new files, the new DM looks interesting. On first glance, it doesn't appear that 3rd party DM mods like FB's or mine are incompatible with the new patch. You might explain how the new MP file backup options work, however. Haven't had time to fly yet, but on the outside the new patch looks really nice. Everything seems to load properly and works as before. Thanks OBD! :clapping:
  8. Carrick-- Installation is easy, IMO. 1) Download the mod. 2) Left click to open the zip file. 3) Click on the HPWFB readme file for complete installation instructions. Olham-- 1. You can easily change back to the normal or hardcore DM provided by OBD by running the appropriate DM file available from their website (you probably downloaded it already). 2. It's hard to say whether a particular aircraft will last longer or not in a dogfight because there are so many variables involved. However, the mod is designed so that aircraft will perform with more variety when hit than in any of the other damage models. Some may be tougher, others may be easier. In general, if main guns in Workshop are set to "normal", most of the aircraft in the new mod will probably be slightly easier to down than in the hardcore DM. If they become too easy to damage, try setting main guns in Workshop to "less accurate."
  9. Dear friends, Fortiesboy and I are proud to present what I believe to be our best damage model yet! The Herr Prop-Wasche and Fortiesboy Damage Model Variety Pack (DMVP) is intended to be used as an alternative campaign damage model to any other currently existing damage model already released either by OBD or by any other third party. Our damage model is currently composed of a combination of four existing damage models, and is therefore actually four DMs in one: OBD's original "hardcore" DM, Fortiesboy's DM, my Intermediate Damage Model 2.2, and a hybrid DM consisting of a combination of OBD's hardcore DM and the threshold values from my IDM! This new damage model takes advantage of the ability of BHaH to automatically use multiple skins for aircraft of the same type so that aces and different flights and squadrons flying the same aircraft type can be identified. Now, using our DMVP, aircraft of the same type will be assigned slightly different damage models, meaning that the human player will observe a much wider variety of damage effects to the AI aircraft than was previously thought possible. Human players should also notice that damage to their own aircraft should become more visible, with more varied damage effects than currently seen using only the hardcore model. The DMVP is meant to be used primarily with the full BHaH campaign. However, players who fly mainly QC are also invited to download this mod, as it also contains a slightly modified version of HPW's Intermediate Damage Model 2.2 for QC. Users who prefer to use a different damage model for QC battles may simply apply the appropriate QC damage mod for use in QC without harming their installation of the DMVP for use in the campaign. Please be sure to read the installation instructions contained in the download file because a small second step is required in order to insure that the mod is installed properly. I hope that the addition of this second step will permit users to use this mod after OBD releases their next patch, which most likely will contain a revised "official" hardcore damage model. However, until the next patch is released, I cannot guarantee that the DMVP will work with the new patch. Finally, I recommend that users who decide to use this mod change their gun accuracy settings in Workshop to "less accurate." This setting effects both the human player and the AI, but seems to reduce the "dead-eye Dick" accuracy of the AI in campaign and allows for (I hope) longer and more realistic air battles. Fortiesboy and I hope that everyone will enjoy this mod and find it to be the most realistic and enjoyable damage model yet! Please direct any questions or comments regarding the use of this mod either to me or Fortiesboy on this thread. 10. After applying new graphics settings it is usually a good idea to go back to workshop and click on the graphics settings button and reset your screen resolution settings. For some reason these sometimes reset to 800 X 600, causing your game to crash. Reset your resolution to the maximum your monitor can support with a comfortable refresh rate if a CRT.

HPWFB Campaign Damage Model Variety Pack for OFF BHaH 1.0 by Herr Prop Wasche, with contributions by Fortiesboy INSTALLATION: 1) Right-click on the HPWFB_1_0.zip folder and extract all files to the OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder. DO NOT unzip the file into the aircraft folder itself! If prompted, simply click "Yes to all" when asked if you wish to replace files. 2) Navigate to the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder and click on the deletebdps.bat program to remove any old bdp files remaining from older DM installs. Don't panic! This will not harm your install of BHaH in any way as the game will automatically recreate the correct bdp files the next time you start the game. You may also run this program anytime a freshly installed DM does not appear to be displaying the appropriate damage effects. Version 1.0 of the Damage Model Variety Pack (DMVP) is intended to be used as an alternative campaign damage model to any other currently existing damage model already released either by OBD or by any other third party, including myself. The DMVP is currently composed of a combination of four existing damage models, and is therefore actually four DMs in one: OBD's original "hardcore" DM, Fortiesboy's DM, my Intermediate Damage Model 2.2, and a hybrid consisting of a combination of OBD's hardcore DM and the threshold values from my IDM! What this means is that the AI aircraft will now display even more varied damage effects than was previously thought possible, depending on which one of four damage models they are assigned by the campaign manager when each campaign mission is initialized. Although human players will no longer be able to know specifically how "tough" each of their AI opponent's aircraft are until they engage them in a dogfight, care has been taken to ensure that the respective damage models are similar enough so that no one has an unfair advantage over another player--human or otherwise! I hope you enjoy using the mod as much as I have enjoyed making it. A special thanks to OBD and to Fortiesboy for their help and encouragement in the making of this mod. It simply would not have been possible without both of their help and assistance. Salute!

  13. Wrong location. If you are talking about Fortiesboy's mod, read the installation instructions on the page where you downloaded the mod. I believe he tells you to unzip the folder to your \OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\aircraft folder.
  14. Go here for FB's DM, as well as my IDM: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=205 Decide which you would like to use, download it, then follow the readme instructions.
  15. What damage model are you using? Try Fortiesboy's DM if you would like to see a little more fire and brimstone!
  16. Instead of a system restore, do you have your old drivers? If so, uninstall the new ones and then reinstall the old ones. I have several older Nvidea drivers, so I can send them to you if you wish. You might also be able to grab older drivers at the Nvidea web site.
  17. Two hours for an update? That is some freakin' update! But does your system have beautiful knockers?
  18. I second the vote for BoBII, although I haven't been able to fly it much since BHaH arrived.
  19. Wow, 2 hours to install the sim that shall not be named? I can think of a few names for a game that takes that long to install!
  20. Seeing bullet hits is a function of the xdp file for each aircraft.* More specifically, whether you see a bullet strike on yours or the AI aircraft depends on an interaction between the hit points for the particular component that is hit and the "threshold value" which determines whether a given damage effect will have a chance to be displayed. For example, take the Sopwith Pup since it was mentioned by Bullethead. If you open the xdp file for the Pup (any text editor will do), you will notice a section labeled <DamageBoxes>. Inside this section, you see that each wing in the hardcore DM has a hit point value of 100. Below the damageboxes section is a section called <Systems>. This section contains the threshold values for each damage effect that can occur to every component of each aircraft in the game. You will see sections for the engine, fuselage, fuel tank, wings, tail, etc. Notice that not every component has a bullet strike effect. You will never see a bullet hit in that component. Next, look for the sub-section inside the Systems section named <System ID="left_wing" Name="Left Wing Structure">. Looking in this section, you will see that there are two entries for bullet strikes, named " fx_blt_hit_s." One occurs at threshold level 25 and the other at level 70. These values are percentages. Since the value of the left wing damage box is 100, this means that a bullet hit will potentially be shown if you inflict 25 points of damage to this component of the aircraft and then once again if you inflict a total of 70 points of damage to the wing. Fortiesboy originally pointed out, and I agree with him, that the threshold values for some of the damage effects, including bullet strikes, are set a little too high, and that is why you don't see them a lot in the game. Also, since these are only "thresholds" for displaying damage, you may not see them right away--the display of damage varies a bit. If set too high, you may not see an effect until the component or the entire plane has already been destroyed. Both my and FB's DMs are attempts to try and remedy this situation (as well as a few other minor DM anomalies) a bit. The good news is that OBD will be releasing an updated DM in the next patch. I'm not sure how much the updated DM will address the above issue, but if not, FB and I will probably have our own slant on the problem. *Along with the size and shape of the damage box itself in the .m3d file.
  21. What a roller coaster ride, CJ! First, I was excited to see I had helped solve your problem, only to be disappointed again! Felt like a kid who has been told he's getting a really cool Christmas present only to find out it's a new Sunday shirt! Oh well. At least we solved part of the problem. If the problem is FFB, I wonder if you need to re-download DX 9.0?
  22. Sound card issue? Run dxdiagnose.exe and try lowering your hardware sound acceleration. Also, since you put in a new HD, make sure all of your drivers are up to date.
  23. I haven't tested it out, but I think the waypoint color is the same as "HumanFriendly" color.
