Intermediate DM 2.2 update available!
Herr Prop-Wasche replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
H- Although Pol and OBD have been very helpful with suggestions and file copying (there are over 380 folders in the aircraft folder), I don't have any special access to what OBD is up to regarding the DM. While by no means do I think they neglected the DM, I sometimes fancy that my and Fortiesboy's work on the DM has opened their eyes a bit as to just how much damage detail they can get out of the CFS3 engine. My guess is that the next official OBD DM will include even more damage effects, including some new graphics. Since I can't even draw a straight line, I can't hope to compete with them in that area. I have also heard rumblings of a "dynamic" DM from OBD. My guess here is that they are developing a program that will either load DMs based on date and aircraft type, or a "multiple version" DM which will vary slightly each time you start the game. Either one would be very exciting, IMO. Whatever they decide to do, I will be eager to see what tweaking I might be able to do on it. It's a sickness on my part! -

Just a word of caution. I haven't tested my bdp zapper in Vista, either, as I am an XP man myself. -

Here is an interesting article about the development of an Ion engine which could potentially shorten a Mars trip to 39 days! They have no timeline on the delivery of this rocket yet, but testing on a first-stage prototype is expected within a few years. However, the inter-planetary version requires a nuclear engine! Still, if this could be accomplished in 50 years isn't it worth pursuing? http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn1747...ars.html?page=1 -

I can't stop tweaking!! I know I need help...but I've not hit bottom, yet! Is there an organization for tweak-alcoholics? TA stands for something else, I'm afraid. :drinks_drunk: -
Intermediate DM 2.2 update available!
Herr Prop-Wasche replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This is from a recent QC battle where four Spad XIII's eventually got the better of me--and how! This is using a slightly revised version of 2.2 that I am currently working on. -
Screen Shots, Videos, Media, OFF Posters
Herr Prop-Wasche replied to MK2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This is from a QC flight where I was testing another revision to my DM. I title these two screenies as, "A very bad day at the office!" Interestingly, I did not immediately get kicked back to the debrief screen and I eventually wound up crashing into the ground. Perhaps a change implemented in 1.31L? If so, good show, OBD! -
Intermediate DM 2.2 update available!
Herr Prop-Wasche replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Aw, TSmoke, where's your sense of adventure? Seriously, my IDM is really very easy to install. All you have to do is unzip the file to the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder and that's it! The file will automatically install the correct xdp and bdp files into each aircraft folder. Although I mentioned backing up your aircraft folder, it really is not necessary. At worst, all you have to do to restore the original OFF DM is simply to re-run OBD's installer program for either the normal or hardcore DM. If you are nervous about not backing up your aircraft folder, all you have to do to do this is to right-click on the aircraft folder and select "Copy" from the drop-down menu. Then, right-click anywhere on your desktop and select "Paste." This will create an exact duplicate of the aircraft folder contents on your desktop (the paste process may take a minute or two depending on the speed of your computer). Anyone else care to reassure TSmoke that his computer will not blow up if he uses my DM? -

Newbie - Installation Problem
Herr Prop-Wasche replied to Biggin Hill's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Okay. First, what is Firepower and why are you trying to install it before OFF? Second, since you have already tried to install OFF, make sure you uninstall everything OFF related, including hidden files and files in your Documents and Settings folder. You might even want to search through the registry. After you have done that, then try your above procedure, except do NOT install Firepower. Also, to be on the safe side, you might want to start one CFS3 mission and exit to ensure it installed correctly before you try to install OFF. Finally, we will most likely need your computer specs. This will help in trouble shooting. Good luck, Biggin Hill. Out. -
Welcome back, Barnstorm. I hope your mum remains as comfortable as possible during her remaining days. Having lost my mother several years ago, I know how difficult a time this must be for you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

IMPORTANT: This is a recommended update for all users of IDM 2.1. INSTALLATION: Simply right-click the IDM_2_2.zip file and extract to the OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder. DO NOT unzip the file into the aircraft folder itself! If prompted, simply click "Yes to all" when asked if you wish to replace files. If you later decide to go back to either the normal or hardcore damage models, simply run the appropriate DM program from OBD. Changes in 2.2 Added appropriate bdp files for each aircraft. In certain circumstances in previous versions, the bdp files from other DMs were not being deleted, resulting in the failure of the IDM to work correctly. This update takes care of that problem. Also included a file to automatically remove bdp files from other DMs. Click on "deletebdps.bat" to run this program, if needed. BHaH will automatically recreate the bdp files based upon the currently installed DM the next time you fly. To be absolutely safe, please back up your aircraft folder before installing this update. For changes to previous versions, please refer to the IDM_2_2_Readme.txt file, installed to your main CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder. Edit: Version 2.2 is available in combatace's 3rd party file and mods release forum here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=44766

TrackIR4 and old pedals to sell cheap

Homeboy, I just sent you an email. Look forward to hearing from you again! -
Not to toot my own horn here, but you might try using my Intermediate Damage Model. You should see more visible damage on both the AI and on your airplane. For example, last night using my DM I was flying in QC with an ALB III early against Sopwith Pups. I got a little target fixated and a Pup got behind me. All of the sudden, four or five bullet holes appeared right before my eyes in my center-wing mounted radiator! I had never seen that before! My engine began to sputter and cough and I knew I had to get out of there. Fortunately, I was able to throw the Pup off my tail and escape, landing at a nearby airfield. This seemed a lot more realistic to me than getting hit by a few shots and suddenly not having any control over my aircraft. Just remember there are lots of options and mods you can try to make OFF an enjoyable experience for you. Try some, you might like it!

BigJim, Are you flying in QC or the campaign? In QC, you can control the skill of the enemy pilots. I find that when I set the enemy skill to "Ace," the AI pilots will hose you down pretty good, usually severing an important control cable or severely damaging your wing--maybe even blowing it off! On veteran, however, they are not quite so accurate, so even if they have you dead to rights, you can sometimes escape with only minimal damage. Of course, in campaign you don't know what the skill of the enemy pilot is until he starts to shoot at you, and by then it's too late! I have been experimenting with setting the accuracy of the main guns (in the lower right corner of Workshop) to "less accurate." IMO, this setting does a better job representing what shooting a machine gun bolted to a flying machine washer in WWI must have been like. The AI is less accurate and lethal at this setting. The drawback is that this setting affects your guns, too! So, expect longer engagements and possibly less conclusive results with this setting. I'm beginning to like it, but others may not agree. Another setting you can fool with is the "Range" button, which controls how close the AI must be before they will open up on you. Set that button to close and they won't "ping" you from 1000 ft.

Just a heads up on Patches...
Herr Prop-Wasche replied to Winder's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This is one of the things that is so nice about OFF and OBD--the ability to modify certain files to your liking AND the encouragement, support, and assistance that OBD gives to people like myself and Fortiesboy who like to fool around with the "vanilla" game. In turn, this has led to the two "standard" DMs, as well as my IDM and Fortiesboy's DM. Most stick to one of the two standard DMs, while others like either my IDM or Fortiesboy's DM. Whatever your preferences or playing style, there is a DM model for you! OFF gives players that flexibility. So, I would just like to say, thanks again OBD! -
