  1. IDM_2_1 For Campaign.zip View File Submitter Herr Prop-Wasche Submitted 07/10/2009 Category Aircraft Models
  2. FB, If Pol and company are unable to make your mod available for download, I would be willing to help you out with the necessary instructions or help so you can make your mod available as a zip file like my IDM.
  3. That "arcade" opinion HAS to be based on preconceived notions about MS products in general, and CFS3 in particular. No way does this person have first hand experience with OFF. But, what would the internet be without uninformed posting about topics one knows little or nothing about?
  4. "Don't be cocky, Peter. You're not an American!"
  5. Well, let's see... First, there are two "official" DMs by OBD. The hardcore DM and the normal DM. Personally, I prefer the hardcore DM over the normal DM. You can pick up either of these DMs at the OBD website. Secondly, there are the alternative DMs that I have created. Intermediate DM 1.6 is currently the most up to date for the campaign. However, I should have a new campaign DM with enhanced damage effects ready soon. Version 2.0 of the IDM with enhanced damage effects is available now, but it is for QC ONLY. Finally, I believe that Fortiesboy is also working on an alternative DM. However, I don't think his is quite ready yet.
  6. Don't patch the OFF DVD with 1.31L. You need to download and install 1.30 first and then 1.30c before applying 1.31L.
  7. Yep, 1.6 works with the new patch. Here again is the procedure: 1) apply the patch. 2) reapply 1.6 for campaign. 3) Play OFF as usual. If you wish to fly MP, whether using the normal DM or the IDM, simply reset the FOV by pressing the FOV button in workshop.
  8. I don't know the answer to your question, but maybe it's OFF's way of telling you that you have your realism settings set too low!
  9. I don't know what a "panegyric" might be, but it sounds like he should have his doctor look at it, pronto!
  10. Yes, the DM for each aircraft type (Camel, Be2, D VII, etc.) currently is the same. However, each aircraft type has its own DM. Additionally, I am contemplating a modification to my IDM to allow for slightly different DMs among aircraft of one aircraft type in order to represent differences in terms of age, workmanship, battle-damage, and repair quality. In essence, an Alb III assigned the AC1 file as described by Sitting Duck might have a slightly different DM than the same Alb model assigned AC2 or SQ4, and so on.
  11. The only changes that the new patch makes to the xdp files is the FOV settings, I believe, so it should be compatible with 1.6. The only thing I would suggest is to apply 1.6 after you have installed the patch. Then, before flying, go into workshop and press the FOV button to get the new default OFF FOV settings. I'll test this out myself and report back.
  12. Ah, Dej! I have some English and Welsh blood flowing through my veins, as well, although my family immigrated to the rebellious colonies over 150 years ago. Sadly, I know little about my ancestor's countrymen except for their fondness for unpronounceable words!
  13. Good to hear from you, OlPaint1! V2.0 of the IDM for QC can be used with the 1.31L minipatch. Simply apply the patch, then reapply v2.0 of the IDM. All of the damage points and threshold values you need are contained in the 2.0 zip file. As far as a version for the campaign, I am waiting to hear from Fortiesboy regarding a proposal I made to him about combining our two patches. I think our two patches are similar enough that we might be able to make a mod in which some of the planes have "his" DM while others have "my" DM, thus simulating slight differences in quality of workmanship, age, mechanical condition, etc. of the aircraft. Winder also dropped a hint about a dynamic DM that I don't know anything about. In other words, our DM work is not yet done and I think it may only get better!! :drinks_drunk:
  14. IMO, this is a pretty civil forum. UncleAL likes to drop his anti-Obama bombs occasionally, but he's just "calling it as he sees it." I don't think he's trying to rile anyone up or provoke a fight. I don't take any offense to it. I think you have to be pretty thin skinned to get too upset about what another anonymous poster says on an internet board. My philosophy is, stay away from RPG's. Not role playing games or rocket propelled grenades (although I make it a general policy to stay away from them, too), but Religion, Politics, and Guns. Stay away from those three topics, and you can be almost anyone's friend!
  15. Well, I didn't vote as it would be unfair for me to state an opinion since I have only tried MP one time. Please note, however, that my lack of MP time is NOT because of lack of interest. Instead, it is because I rarely have any time after perusing this forum, playing SP, and working on my IDM. Maybe once I finish work on the IDM, I will be able to devote more time to MP. I will say that the one time I tried MP, it was lots of fun! We were testing the IDM and I had no mismatch problems after I installed Madmatt's MP Installer. There was a little bit of stutter, briefly, but I did not see any severe lag. Occasionally, someone got kicked out, but that was pretty rare. All in all, I give OFF MP a thumb's up!
  16. When you eventually decide, you MUST post your itinerary. Depending on where you arrive: NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, etc. there will probably be several OFF fans within a days drive or so. Many would love to have the chance to have a "meet and greet" with you and your family. We could assist in teaching you to drive on the "correct" side of the road and also to avoid the "popular" brands of domestic beer. You could teach us how to speak the Queen's English!
  17. I believe the only files you have to worry about are the xdp files, not the entire folder for each aircraft. At least, that is all I have had to worry about for my IDM. So this should cut down considerably on the work and storage space needed for alternate xdp's.
  18. Probably because there is no more left to add, after your posting of these wonderful primary sources!
  19. Mr. L, You can easily tell which version you are using by opening up the xdp file for the Alb_DIII_QC1 with a text editor and looking at the value for wing hit points. 104 is the hardcore DM, 78 is the Intermediate DM, and 52 is the Normal DM. Right now, there are no "enhanced damage effects" for the campaign. However, if you are flying QC only, you can see if you are using the original OFF settings by looking in the threshold values section of the xdp file, and noting the values for the "Left Wing Structure" or the "Right Wing Structure." If there are 3 values of 100, you are using the original OFF version. My version has a maximum value of 75 for either the left or right wing structure, and FB's are somewhat lower than that. An alternative to the above procedure is to simply look at the dates of the xdp file. Tell me the date and I can probably tell you which DM you are using.
  20. Gents and Gentleladies, Just a note to let anyone know who might have missed it that I have just finished work on a revision to my Intermediate damage model and that it is now available for download on the OFF 3rd party mods forum. Version 2.0 is contained in a zip file named IDM2_0.zip. Version 2.0 is a completely reworked version of my Intermediate Damage Model, intended for use in QC battles only. A version for the entire campaign may also become available sometime in the near future. Changes from 1.6 to 2.0 include a slight increase in hit points to the wings, aileron cables, and the oil reservoir; along with reductions in hit points to the rudder and elevators. However, the most significant change in v2.0 of the IDM is the addition of enhanced damage effects! Depending on the severity of the damage, aircraft will now display not only bullet holes, but also rips and tears, oil and coolant leaks, exposed wing spars, and broken wing tips. Entire wings may break off, and fires and engine explosions will also be seen on rare occasions! In addition to the enhanced graphics, damaged aircraft should also display more varied and realistic behavior. Aircraft that drift sedately into the ground after being hit are now hopefully a thing of the past. I have worked for a long time implementing and testing these changes and am very proud of the results. I hope you enjoy using the mod as much as I have enjoyed making it. A special thanks to OBD for their help and encouragement in the making of this mod. I also want to thank Fortiesboy for allowing me to bounce ideas off of him. This mod would not have been possible without their help and assistance. Salute!
  21. CJ, I followed the same advice and had the same problem. Turns out there are two wav files with Pol's voice. The one you want to replace is in the same folder, but is named "HanagerFadeMusic.wav". That will take care of Ringo!
  22. One word: Wyoming. Great wide open country, mountains, streams and rivers. Hardly a city for hundreds of miles! Go rent the movie, "A River Runs Through It." Although the movie takes place about 100 years ago, it shows off some of the beautiful scenery that hasn't changed very much at all. And if you are a fly fisherman.... Although I live in Ohio, I'm thinking I might join you!
  23. Is ground-level fog modeled? It is the only weather feature I don't think I have run across yet--thank God!
