  1. Fortiesboy, a computer freak said to me about this question: It may well be easier for your system to produce the visuals on settings lower, but don't forget: the system then has to reduce the full quality to less, which is again a process to be done. He recommended to me: run it full high first; and only if you get stutters or jaggies, move sliders down. The landscape (terrain) and the scenery do indeed look fine on 4; even on 3.
  2. Almost, Rickitycrate ! - Would be a good name for your German pilots, Widow! Frank Witwenmacher - or Simon Witwenmacher (we have that first name in Germany too, here it is spelled 'zeemon' ).
  3. Ahm - I have a pan on the fire... sorry, Pol...
  4. My system is similar to yours: Intel Core Duo E8300; 4 GB RAM, ATI RADEON 4870; Windows Vista It may be, that Windows Vista needs more knowledge to set up; a friend and computer expert of mine did it for me - no problems here.
  5. Update 04/04/10 23:54 Berlin wintertime (= GMT + 1) Wayfarer, England, added. All the maps are in post 1 of this thread
  6. Yep, the Eindecker has no timelike opponent here yet, so it is the toughest craft to survive in. That's why I would not recommend to insist in flying the war from beginning to end. Cause: 1. you won't ever get to 1917, and surely never to 1918 2. you would miss to learn flying an easier way
  7. Hasse Wind, I am just making a Jasta 18 skin for the D Va 1918. I had the same problem: the D III OAW are "not available". Winder, if there should be a simple line to be changed - perhaps you could tell us were?
  8. Oh, yeah, now he mentions it: the Albatros D.II and D.III are wonderful fighters ! And rather easy to fly!
  9. Yes, I won't go back either. TrackIR was my best investment after OFF! And version 5 is much smoother indeed.
  10. Not really. I use the TrackIR 4 hardware with TrackIR 5 software. Now I often have to start it twice, cause the red lights in the device don't come on the first time. But always after closing it and starting it again, it works properly.
  11. Welcome here, Klewer! The "around-the-campaign-flying" stuff is: 1. you get promoted; I think more quickly when you complete your mission tasks 2. you receive medals like the "Pour Le Merite (Blue Max)" 3. you can fill in claim reports, and they will be decided about by the high command 4. you can add some sign or whatever to a skin, or even make your own one (this needs additional, freeware programs) 5. you can choose from very many Squadrons / Jastas / Escadrilles You can set up the sim in the "Workshop" to your likes; actually you can make very individual settings to make it more or less difficult - much more can be done here than just to choose between easy, medium and hard. When you should get into it, you might later set it up very realistic. And then, believe me, it will be tough to survive 17 hours. So it is a sim for a long time player/flyer. But you must never go there, if you like it more easy.
  12. One easy thing to do and get: the free download of IrfanView. With that program installed, you click "open" in this directory: (your game folder) > campaigns > CampaignData > skins Once you have clicked one skin and see it full size, you can, as Sandbagger said, get to the next by just pressing the arrow-down-key.
  13. I am very careful with tabletts, Hasse Wind, so I only took a half first. And I am feeling very finnished already - ... or must it be Finnish ?
  14. To cut a long thinking short - here is that demo again. This guy demonstrated it very well. The only question that will remain after seeing this video, is: how to get the money together.
  15. This is a mad thread, rahahaaa!! Half the stuff needs to get decoded - gniiiihi!! - the second half is April jokes, gniiihihihiii!!! and the other half doesn't make sense at all! Upgrade! I will need to upgrade again!!! More power; faster, faster!!! Rahaha!!! P4 is at the door!!! I know I'm mad - I was born 1st of April - hihi!! Please don't think I was laughing - it's only my nerves; wuhuhuu!!
  16. 750 W - 1200 W - are you guys running real laser cannons in your ego shooters????!!!
  17. Not sure either, Pol. I have been flying in a motorised sailplane, and you don't see much of the prop in flight - it just turns so fast. Don't know, how fast the WW1 props turned, but if we get a "real" propellor, and then could really watch it turning, that would seem wrong to me.
  18. Amen to that!
  19. I wonder if it might depend on the zoom factor? I believe to see my prop, or rather "a darkish rotation haze", all the time. Try pressing Ctrl. and - (minus), to zoom out from your surrounding. You can repeat it, until it looks right. Perhaps you see it then?
  20. There is a "re-center" command you could put on a joystick thimb button; and a "precision" command too. The second makes sense in a very agile and twitchy beast like the Dr.1. When you press "precision" it is, as if you stiffen up your body and neck - you cannot check your six with it, but you can aim and hit much better.
  21. It is looking very realistic - great job! But again I also realise, what a piece of artwork our OFF landscape is; it is not as cold as reality, not so blue-green-grey as real life - it looks warmer, gentler in a way. Which gives me some comfort in a war like this, if you know what I mean.
  22. What is it all about - a sim or rather something like "Google Earth" ?
  23. Enjoy these incredible BBC camera views from the back of a Peregrine Falcon. When it's chasing through a forrest, you want to cover your eyes with your hand!
  24. UncleAl, I suppose you and I are far too small and unimportant, as that we should bother too much about some deals we don't understand completely anyway, nor could stop them. Tax money was always wasted in large amounts by any big power in history, even before the Romans. Health care should not be the worst project to "waste" money on. And that off-shore drilling: be sure, that the USA will have their interests saved before spending the money. They are no idiots.
  25. Well, as I had promised, I have started working on the Albatros. As there are several versions, it may take a couple of days more to check and compare them all. But half of the work is already done.
