  1. Nice pics! But what about some motion? You can watch many such vids from HAFU, cause they film the aircraft of THE VINTAGE AVIATOR.
  2. Is there anything you British would not touch and turn into something funny? Don't you have any respect for... - ah, bullsh*t! Damn, where is my *ss??? I must have laughed it off! ... Mmuahahahahaaa!!! I always liked the bizzarre cut-out sketches of Terry Giliam for Monty Python's - and I like these too. Thanks for sharing, Widow!
  3. ...exzept zatt vee don't speek no Inklish, mein Herr! Mmuahahahahaaa!!!
  4. Another example for something I truely believe: the rare good old prints and recordings may sooner or later find the yearning, cherishing searcher. You - and this old book - deserve so much that you found each other. Have a good time with it, Lou!
  5. Yeah, that is often better - god built it in to us, that we fortunately can't remember much after a certain point of celebrating - god's mercy on us! Mmuahahahaaa!!!
  6. Haha - would you buy a car from this man? Mmuahahahaaa!! Reminds me of David Caruso in CSI Miami! Your air force time sure got you travelling around, Lou - must have been quite adventureous. And you got a good chance to learn to know some of the good European beers, ales, stouts and bitters, I bet. I can't find the only pic I had from my army time (must dig deeper!), but simply imagine a tall beanstalk with a drab olive side cap on - that's me!
  7. The Air Force remained a dream for me; over general conscription only very few came to the Luftwaffe. I entered my service on 1 August 1974. First we had 6 weeks of fundamental training; then I came to the artillery, where I became a radio teletype operator. I lead a group of 4 men (lead operator (me), driver and 2 operators). We had our own UNIMOG radio truck, and it was fun sometimes. I regard the army time like this: I wouldn't miss it, but I'd never want to go through it again. Maybe you know what I mean.
  8. Not yet, Duke. I am very busy workwise these days. Maybe next week. Do you have a field in mind?
  9. I guess your lady still can't believe that you should be grown up? Mmuahahahahaaa!!!
  10. Just found this link posted at THE AERODROME (thank you, Froggy!). You can read the journals online or download as PDF files. You can zoom in, and then it is all there, in neat ink and feather handwriting! Enjoy! https://archive.org/details/EscadrilleN124j00
  11. Okay - good luck! Best you read and follow the FAQs, to save you some nerves and time?
  12. Many good points - and an interesting and very TOPIC thread! Thanks all!
  13. Wayfarer, before you go through a total new installation, give the button in "Workshop" a try: "Reset CFS3". Maybe it helps. If not, you can still re-install. If it helps, it will only delete your pilots - but that is a minor point compared to a new install.
  14. Scones! .... Hmmmm! In Cornwall I had them with cool clotted cream and raspberry conserve! I'll never forget! Yummie!!!
  15. What you wrote sounds most reasonable, Lou, and I don't know anything to add. So I just wrote this to keep the conversation rolling. Could anyone put the kettle on? I'd love to have a strong cup of tea.
  16. Sounds like a realgood history lesson - at least for the English-speaking ones. I don't have the time or patience right now due to real life stuff, but I'll bookmark the link. Thank you for sharing, Javito!
  17. Hauksbee, I missed the online flying back when it happened - I was totally into single player campaign then. Could you give me/us some impressions of how it worked? Did the community face problems? And if so, could they all be solved?
  18. Interesting info, Lou - never read much about those cannons. But didn't they all switch back to twin machine guns? I thought I read that somewhere.
  19. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LOU! I know your schedule of missions to be flown is tight, so it's always a pleasure when you can make a quick landing on our little airfield here!
  20. Not sure how successful these cannons were - French ace Guynemer experimented with a cannon on his SPAD, but he went back to twin machine guns.
  21. It is a cannon - Voisin experimented with the M1902 cannon, which had a calibre of 37 mm. Not sure though, if this is that same model. See more here: http://www.dieselpunks.org/profiles/blogs/knights-of-the-air-sky-cannons
  22. Great pics and info here about a Voisin 10 restauration! Make sure you also click on the link below the 4 colour pics about the restaurated nacelle. http://memorial.flight.free.fr/Voisin10uk.html There is even a colour chart for French aircraft, compiled after original samples. http://memorial.flight.free.fr/nuancier1418uk.html
  23. A website with an amazing collection of WW1 aircraft photos and postcards has gone - "Rosebud's Early Aviation" I went there often to check and double-check aircraft types and variations, and I always found what I was looking for, or even so much more. Now the domain name has expired, for whatever reason, and a great site is gone. Thank you for all the good information over a long time, Rosebud.
  24. Checked it and it seems you are right; at least for Le Prieur rockets, Jim. I always thought they had been explosive, but these weren't. They seem to have been used against balloons (successfully), and - unsuccessfully - against airships. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Prieur_rocket Pol said it repeatedly, that the way the rockets are in OFF is more a CFS3/WW2 rocket. But maybe they could change them for WOFF?
