  1. Mustn't be Guinness really - I used to drink that in the days of youth a lot. But now, I'd much prefer a beer, that's name I forgot; it was in Northern England, were I visited friends in Derby. Near the druid stones of Birchover, there was a nice pub, were we had Ploughman's Lunch (really good!), and that beer. Yorkshire Brown? Newcastle Brown? Perhaps Widowmaker knows, if he stumbles over this...
  2. I think, it's 100 MB, and 10 minutes. In Windows Movie Maker, you can make the choice of the size of final video with a slider (I think it was). But they kicked my music out, and so I had to swap it with music, they offered.
  3. Couldn't resist. Someone asked recently, if anyone had tried it yet. I did. Picked a Fokker Dr.1, and put 5 S.E. 5a in advantage, in a QC. 1. attempt: survived, but ammo was out after downing three 2. attempt: got badly hit twice, engine failed out 3. attempt: got badly hit, plane wasn't manoeuverable enough, gave up 4. attempt: as 3. 5. attempt: see video
  4. I've done that - sneaked over with a foreign identity, to be allowed to fly the famous Camel. And I must say, she didn't disappoint me. See my thread "Oh my god - I shot two Albatros!"
  5. THIS-CRATE-IS-FUN!!! I wonder, reading complains, she was tricky - after flying Albatros mostly, this babe is easy going! Like a butterfly with guns. Yes, at last I did it; David Marlowe joined RFC-65, La Lovie, October 1917. It was my first flight, for which I wasn't the leader. The British are a bit more hiratic about the lead role - I was just too new. Off course, I forgot quickly - right after takeoff, we spotted enemy fighters overhead, and I thought, I better climb towards them, before they come down and ruin everybody's day. They were three first, Albatros D V from Jasta 37 (I think it was - diagonal black and white stripes in the tail fins; yellow fuselage). But I was lucky - Flak took one out, before I reached them. The engine went down seperately and much faster - two trails of smoke. And then they came down! What a sight, to see Albatros attacking - I almost forgot to shoot! They came like hunting wolves, from two sides. But the Camel responded lightly on anything I did; I even used the Immelmann twice, and she does that nicely! When she stalled, she recovered quickly, after taking throttle back half. Only negative point is vision. How much better is vision on Halberstadt, Albatros, Pfalz or D VII! Here, you have an attic window - but better than nothing, I thought, and really managed to keep my eyes on the craft I followed. Shooting is child simple and easy on that crate. No vibrating; very calm directly into target. Those blokes had no chance against a man, who knew their planes. But when then the first got shot up terribly, and went down smoking, it turned my heart! Thanks to "warp", I managed to rejoin my flight. We approached 3 DFW two-seaters. My attack was honestly mad in such a light plane, but I collected relatively few hits. I made three attacks on the same plane, when I suddenly saw Albatros left and right! Oops! I managed to burn one's fur, but then ammo was out. Now they came for the kill; and I don't know how I managed to make an emergency landing right in a forrest road! She's very easy to land, too. Straight in line, and soft at touch down. Just as I stood still, safe and sound, a blue line appeared: "you destroyed an enemy DFW". Wonderful! Three kills! Only know I realised, I had neither noted time nor place. But I filled in the claim form anyway - hope, they will accept them! More reports will follow! Cheers! David Marlowe
  6. Exactly - thanks, Hauksbee.
  7. Wels - there is an explanation for why the Dr.1 flat turn doesn't work in most flight sims. Forgot, in which thread, but it was a newer one!
  8. I have mostly been in the same Jastas again; 2, 5, 6, 11, 12, 15. Not much more. So Jasta 40, you say - I'll check; thanks. Do we have the STROPP plane (Jasta 46, I think)? Must check that too.
  9. Well, we should much rather fight together - it's hard enough, as it is. I like your approach, to fly a plane you like, even when it is definitely NOT the best fighter plane around. And after some time, you find more of it's special strengths.
  10. Is this a 3D model, as they have to be built for flight sims? And which program do you use (a free one?) ?
  11. Could get complicated, when on a highway with full speed, and you give "full rudder left"...
  12. Rugbyfan, you may know it since long; but in case, you don't: Trimming your plane nose higher or lower, can be adjusted via two keys (see "controls"). If you put those on two keys like "up arrow" and "down arrow", and count and remember, how many ticks your plane needs to balance it, you can do it at the start, and everything should be fine then.
  13. You are, Hood. The British say, you're from down under. Well, and as that is pretty much on the opposite side of the earth, you are (from our point of view) headover. From your point of view though...
  14. Being a grafic designer and semi-artist, I'd hardly be able to force myself to shoot this one down.
  15. Hey, that's something different for a change - a two-seater! May give Widow a headache - now he must even think about doing two-seaters! Lol! But why a French name? and are you sure, it wasn't "L'Elephant volant"? It has British concordes - why not "The Flying Elephant"?
  16. You mean, "Bloody April" ?
  17. Yes! Go and peel the spuds in the cantine, pilot! But you might use the effect - and plaster any enemy plane on your spinning down! But seriously - I experienced two nasty spins myself today. Never had that before! on the first one, the plane broke up in mid air. But I had not even performed very tricky manoeuvers... Both on Albatros D Va - a plane I thought to know...
  18. Yes! Nice, Rooster! Now you tasted blood, eyh? Keep them coming!
  19. Vee know how too handl a beautiful lady, mein Herr Englander! But I may add a little oil smear and such - worked out some in Photoshop already. But it's true - if you look at the Albatros, it is a wooden plane with paint on; not like canvas. You first have to seal the wood with primer, and then paint it in two or three layers, until it appears like a shiny car. I'm pretty sure, German air crew were rather neat about the nicely painted craft. If you see nowadays, how the people treat their cars - it's insane! Even the bumper (that should be for bumping, no?) mustn't have a scratch or stain. Regarded that way, I must have rather French or British ancestors. If you saw my kitchen... (Lol!)
  20. Don't show the kids - they like the rabbits!
  21. No, not Pol - it's Winder! (Lol!) On my Dsherman side of ze trenches, I just sit in der sun ant vait, until she killed you all. British Wunderwaffe - enemy must do nothink - Mmmuahahahahaaaaa!!!!
  22. A happy Easter to all the OFF Forum community, the whole OFF dev team, and all from the Combat Ace Forum! Olham
  23. Nice catch of athmosphere - gave me a good feeling for the S.E.5a. And sorry, but it did me good, that you crumpets also suffer from severe Flak. I do my Ballon attacks now in steep curves - makes it difficult for the Archies and worked so far. But on leaving, you must zig zag like a hare, still. They get really mad about their ballons...
  24. Now I should defend my lady against that. You seem to be another pilot, who prefers a good looking plane to the lethal fighters, eyh? Now, may you become THE German pilot on Pfalz DIIIa, as I may be THE Albatros man. But please: do you never say that again - that an Albatros was ugly! Otherwise, it might come to the first incident of two German pilots duelling over the lines both in German fighter planes. And THAT, my friend, would definitely get us both into one of the Kaiser's prisons. So, let's better stick together - it's hard enough against the crumpets, the headovers, the yankees and the frogs.
  25. I'm not very good at computing, but try this: Make a Win.rar compressed file of it, then throw the file on the desktop, and try to upload it from there?
